Hi forumers,
Ive been going back and forth between these classes since I started the game. Before the April 15th patch, I mained thief because ele was trash tier. After April 15th, I dont know what class to play anymore. Im primarily a pvp player, I dont do pve. But recently I transferred to Maguuma because I want to do wvw. Im also getting more interested in fractals. What class overall is better for pvp, wvw, and pve. I find thief more fun in pvp, but in pve thief is HORRIBLY BORING. Ele is fun in all game modes, but in pvp its a bit lacking compared to thief IMO. Please dont say “play both”. I dont have the patience to get 2 classes to level 80.

Best Multiclass NA. RIP my beautiful Necromancer, such a shame. Retired, April 2015. GG Anet,
I’m not coming back, not that you care.

Have both at 80 I would say Ele. Thief is fun but I feel I offer more to the group as an ele and pvp/www is more rewarding as an ele in my opinion.

Ele is the only class I’ve tried and liked (though I do plan to give thief another try), so I’m pretty biased. But eles are really good for wvw (staff water fields are arguably the keystone to organized wvw groups) and dungeons/fractals. They are often a bit squishier than players are used to, but as a thief I think you should be fine.

The Random Number Gods are nothing if not predictable.
Crafting is designed for gear accessibility, not profit.

It depends. On PvE for most of the faceroll earlier dungeons, if you want to play a ‘metabuild’, eles are mostly extremely boring to play because you either just autoattack with a hammer 90% of the time (scepter) or only use one element and cycle through 3 attacks (staff). Think magical warrior GS camping, but with even less skills to use.

In FotM, harder content, or if you want to screw the metabuild, it gets a lot more interesting as you get a lot more use out of dagger/focus, one of the more interesting setups in the time where you cycle through all your elements and use everything based on what you and your team mates need.
