Guild Wars 2

Eliminate the “Guild Wars 2 discussion” section of these forums. They are approaching the lows that only Blizzard’s forums have reached.

This section of the forums is not helping anyone, save people who want to vent or post hundreds of times in order to stroke their own ego.

All of the complainers can post their complaints in the suggestions forum. All of the people who want to help the game can be active in the Players helping Players forum.

The “Guild Wars 2 Discussion” section just needs to be eliminated for everyone’s own good. Especially the staff at ArenaNet who probably have bad dreams because of this one section of their forums…

Thanks for reading and just think how much happier you would be if you weren’t squabbling, bickering or even casually reading this hole in the virtual world that sucks the life and anything good into a black cesspool of ill will.

Eh, general sections of forums are all about complaints. I just wish gw2 had an “Off topic” section. I read the market forums then get bored, and general is the only other section of interest :P Mainly ibtl.

There is more than one section of the forums all of us can use to express ourselves in but I cannot think of any section on this game’s site that is as full of vitriol, uneccessary rants, undeserved insults, and general utter lameness.

Removing this section is just moving it to other sections. Totally pointless. If they are all here, at least you can choose not to access this section.

I’m all for diluting this concentrated badness that is the Guild Wars 2 Discussion section of these forums.

you’re right- I should have worded that differently but the sentiment remains and I believe that it is accurate.

I did not insult any player by name and that is what I meant when I responded to Resonance’s comment about Vayne. My objection is not regarding Vayne or any specific forum poster. I honestly do not think Vayne is stroking his own ego, but rather I think he’s trying to help others most of the time…but I don’t know him nor do I have time to read all of his posts.

My objection is regarding the devolved state of this particular section of the forums and I believe it would be better to just eliminate this one section of the forums.

Understood that you did not insult any player by name, instead you insulted every player who has ever posted here. I am not sure that is the preferable option.

I don’t have an issue with your basic idea. I disagree with it, but you are entitled to your opinion. I do disagree with the basic idea of insulting everyone and complaining when they engage in the same sort of behavior.

Now, on topic.

What would be served by eliminating this forum ?

It would push the sort of posts/posters that seem to concern you into the specialty forums where people go for specific assistance, information, etc.

Concentrating all of the worst of things in one area where those who are offended by it can more readily avoid the negativity is likely to do more good than harm in my opinion.

In the end I do not see how anything would be gained by eliminating this forum.

So in other words your beef is with the lackluster moderating on the forums since anyone who has spent anytime on the internet knows that this is pretty much the natural state of a large population forum when not properly controlled.

I have seen nothing to support your implication that bad behavior would cease to exist with this forum. My counter to your position on that matter is that bad forum behavior existed before this forum came into being.

I do not consider a discussion to be bickering.

Ultimately if people are enjoying their, “debates,” then they are being entertained through this forum’s existence. None of us are forced to read the threads and posts here. So, your suggestion to remove this forum would not have any direct** impact those who prefer to not read it but would deprive those who do enjoy reading it of a source of entertainment.

**note that I said, “direct impact.” The indirect impact is the very likely result that the, “bickering,” would move to the forums where people who don’t want to see it have gone.

Suggestions forum. Because people there take criticism like an anvil to the face. :P

Do away with the official forums entirely. As paying customers we have a right to complain about legitimate issues. Forums only invite people to complain about kitten stuff such as mounts, raids, trinity and other nonsense. Complaining about such things is not legitimate.

I think the Discussion section should be more heavily moderated but not moved. New players normally come here first to learn about the game and community only to see the same topics in several threads (not the mention the insulting and name-calling). This hurts the game as it turns away new players which in turn hurts the players.

Make no mistake I am not against complaints and suggestions, but they should be more constructive and less bashing. Perhaps if some suspension and bans are initiated there will most probably be less trolls and unnecessary drama in the forums.

And I have been reading these forums for several weeks now and Vayne btw, is not “white knighting”, “an employee of ArenaNet”, etc. In my opinion, he is a person who cares about the game and have lived through life experiencing many things giving him a kind of perspective which you can only acquire through time and experience.
