I’m worried about Elli, the asuran holographic commentator/fighter from the Personal Story.

Since at least last Wintersday, maybe before, she’s just been standing in the Salma District of Divinity’s Reach starting at a wall. She doesn’t move or speak. If you speak to her she’ll turn to face you but that’s all.

I know she went through some pretty rough things during her time with the Pact and I’m worried that it’s affected her. As her superior officer at the time, not to mention a friend, I feel responsible, but I don’t really know what I can do to help.

I guess we lost her to madness…

There was a glitch in the Matrix. She’s caught in an endlessly repeating loop and can’t speak to you before the loop rests. Only you Danikat, The Choosen One, can break out of the Matrix and set her free.

Agent Zrii: She got out after Scarlet. Think she saw too much of that madwoman’s wild holomancy to keep going. She’s pursuing a new line of genius now, but even I don’t know the details. Hope to see her.

Elli sells her work to Lion’s Arch; Scarlet steals her work via Aetherblades from Lion’s Arch; Elli sees Scarlet turn her work into murdering machines; Elli falls into depression and changes line of work.

Not to mention this is after she lost her love interest to a risen’s arrow that was aimed at her – which happened immediately after a near death drowning experience.

Of course, in the home instance all NPCs are like the OP’s Elli. While they may not stare into a wall, they don’t have any response. I ‘love’ ArenaNet’s attempt at “customizing your home instance based on your story choices” that we got told about before release.

This post makes me miss that thread where someone went on a tour of GW2 while in toxic krait form, making posts in character about what he saw on his travels.

She got hit by a… Smooth Criminal.

Perhaps she has been the victim of some sort of criminal assault. Perhaps some very stealthy criminal struck her in the head, causing a permanent state of daze, while we were not looking. Abhorrent of course but very smooth to pull it off and get away with it in a city full of armed adventurers.

Yes, indeed, poor Ellie, it would appear likely that you’ve been hit by a smooth criminal.
