Perhaps this topic is only truly relevant to those of us who on occasion like to enjoy some good old roleplaying, however I feel that it must be addressed. Guild Wars 2 has a surprisingly small pool of emotes. In fact I believe it has less emotes than its predecessor. I would greatly appreciate it if, with this up coming expansion, anet would greatly expand that game’s emote pool. If anyone else agrees with this and/or has some specific emotes or other miscellaneous aesthetic actions/animations you feel should be added, please comment.

They sell emotes for 300 gems for a set of 3. The system was pretty weak…. glad they stopped showing up in the store.

I’d love a sit emote that didn’t look horribly uncomfortable and impractical.

I’m not even into roleplaying and I wish GW2 had more emotes.

This is relevant to everyone. The few emotes we have – i feel – only serve as an alibi to say “we have emotes”. We need at least some basic emotes from GW1 (like scratch for example).

But, in GW1 my emotes all have sparkle hands, why would I care about non sparkle hand emotes?

There are quite a few “unimplemented” ones ingame (many available in GW1), which don’t cause an error message when you type them. I wonder if we’ll ever see them in the future…

I agree on needing more. Hopefully HoT will introduce quite a few more than we have already.

I’m actually really surprised at how limited our emote pool is. GW1 was my first MMO, so I was used to a small pool. Now I’ve seen how many WoW and even ESO have compared to GW2, and I’m staggered at the lack of variety.

Please devs. I need a /leanbackcoin emote for gw2 so I can look like a true mercenary q_q

I’ve always wondered what was the reasoning for “Let’s have less emotes” was. I can only come up with two answers:

Laziness or greed (Oh you want more emotes? We have an emote package available in the gems store for cheap. Only 1200 gems, buy two sets today!)

Asura characters: Zerina | Myndee | Rissa | Jaxxi | Feyyt | Bekka | Sixx | Akee | Tylee | Nuumy
| Claara

Just in case you aren’t aware…

With the /me command in game you have the ability to role play any action you wish. More emotes would always be good, but you do have the ability to perform actions already.

/me waits expectantly to be trashed for speaking the obvious even though many people may not know about this feature.

While true, there are some ‘basic’ expressions and such that could be covered with emotes. Not just to get certain text, but animations, which I think is what the ‘more emote’ crowd is after.

Not to be all ‘that game’ on it, but FF14’s list is mind-bogglingly huge.

Many alts; handle it!

Well… ArenaNet is technically a subsidiary of a Korean MMO company(NCSOFT)… So one would likely expect Anet to adhere to at least some of the paradigms of Korean MMOs. THANK Dwayna they don’t adhere to all of them (most notably korean level grinding /shudder) but as the previous replier mentioned, Korean games generally have enormous emote pools, and it saddens me that gw2 does not retain this aspect of Korean style games.
