Does Arenanet have any restrictions on employees playing on the same worlds/servers as customers?

How does Arenanet insure employees do not provide unfair in game benefits to some customers for profit or simply out of favoritism?

HOD
Guardian / Ranger / Mesmer / Necro / Warrior
Played since 1st online ‘demo’ months before the BWEs.

The devs have always played on the servers just like the rest of us. I have played with several myself. They have said many times that there is not much they can do in game, either replacing items, giving players items, spawning mobs, etc. Pretty much, the only “advantage” or ability an employee has in game over any other player is the little logo that floats over their head.

Sometimes that’s even a disadvantage. I saw an ANetter in the LA bank on Tarnished Coast last week. S/he was being very good natured about the swarm of people mobbing him/her, but really just wanted to head out and play. Yet people kept lobbing guild invites, questions, squeezing in photo ops …

What if you were a famous master of disguise? No one would know you were you!

If the devs want to play undisturbed, why don’t they play without any dev-ine/dev-ilish (your choice) identifying identifications? Or at least put on some dark glasses or something.

The table is a fable.

That’s why they have secret handles. I am willing to bet that many guilds have ANET employees on their roster and don’t even know.

I think they only play with those logos when they’re actually playing on the job and testing/checking stuff. Otherwise they’re incognito. ;o
