Empty worlds
Merging Servers wont do anything.
Servers are only used to determine WvW points anyway.
I thought megaserver did this almost a year ago.
If you want to see lot of players go and do world bosses, hang out by seasonal event’s, go silverwastes etc. Anyway check if you dont have players rendering set to minimum. Last time I was doing 100% maps there was a lot of players everywhere and it was this month.
They are all in the new zones for the most part. This is just simply how MMORPG players act once something new comes out for a game they do mostly that new thing.
Ppl still show up in the older zones and you may just simply be in an OF that is newer then others. You would be surprised at how many ppl are on each map even if you do not see them simply because your not in the same OF.
So the population is there your simply missing them.
Guild : OBEY (The Legacy) I call it Obay , TLC (WvW) , UNIV (other)
Server : FA
Already has been done, maybe look again.
All maps I am in have people in them, doesn’t seem to matter where, someone will run past within seconds of my going to some out of the way area. Map chat is not full because people are either not interested in small talk or using something else to chat with other people.
I see people all the time, pretty much every where I go, so don’t know really where you are coming from OP as I don’t see what you are.
Are you by chance playing at odd hours for the server region? In NA, playing in the evenings for the server time, I see tons of people — too many, in some cases. I also see plenty of chat going on and it’s rare for me not to see at least one shard closure per session, even in zones that didn’t just have a meta event. Those times I play late at night, I see a lot fewer people, but that’s to be expected.
I can’t speak obviously for any other player…but LS is on break, expansion is on the horizon, no WvW tournament, and Dragon Ball is meh.
I login for Tequatl (and that fills a few shards full) two times a day and that’s it. Orr not much of a used zone anymore…Silverwastes instead.
Kind of a break period.

did you ever seen an unpopulated MMO? In Guild Wars 2 even at offpeak hours there’s players everywhere even when events aren’t on. Did you hit an overflow 4 times in a row?
Can’t say I’ve ever experienced a unpopulated map, especially not since megaserver. OP which region are you playing and at what times?

Seems like a reasonable enough explanation.
OP didn’t say when he stopped playing. Maybe it was shortly after launch when the maps were so full because everyone was still leveling their first char. If someone left then and came back now, then the current maps would seem empty.
I rarely see unpopulated maps these days. In fact it always suprises me how many ppl are in some of the traditionally quieter areas sometimes

actually from my perspective they’re fuller than ever. I don’t exactly remember like 20 people doing random (and I do mean completely random, no world boss, no daily) events in low level zones.
Seriously? I seem to tripping over others no matter what map I am playing on, except after a big event and the zerg leaves. Then games asks me if I want to move to a more populated map.

I remember the starter maps and the first maps after that being packed right after launch. If OP left then or shortly after, the maps now would seem empty.
Well, OP first started posting in June of 2013, and hasn’t since. I’m guessing it hasn’t been since launch.
I certainly don’t experience empty maps, and I play at all the off-hours. Right now, in DR, the Queen’s Pavilion area always has people around.
Don’t know what to say… /shrug
OP must be trolling or something. Every map is completely crowded now. I left just when megaservers hit (when they tested it in like one zone) and back then it was almost deserted compared to how it is now. Hell now I’m tripping over people just trying to get around. Every single world event have 10x the people – or more. Even low level zones have people everywhere for no apparent reasons. The PvE world is more alive than ever, I was actually quite shocked when I first logged on some weeks ago.

I don’t either. Lol.
I know before Megaservers the maps were pretty empty. Now there is always people running by or joining in to do events. I frequently see chatter on map chat also. I have no idea what he is comparing it to, but it’s not what I’m seeing.
Is there anything that can be done about this, besides waiting for anet to cut their losses and merge servers? GW2 does not seem to be growing- it’s getting smaller every time I see it.
They already merged servers. Except they called it “megaservers” in order to avoid the stigma of the words “server merge.”

That’s entertaining, but essentially just your personal theory. Because there is as much evidence of that as anything else.
The thing is, they didn’t want to introduce new zones without the megaserver in place and said so. Games like ESO launched with a megaserver.
Seems to me they don’t expect empty maps at launch.
There are lots of reasons to implement a megaserver that have nothing at all do with server mergers, including better efficiency.
I assume you have no proof for this comment.
oO ???
GW2 is probably the most populated mmorpg out of the 5 I play from now and then.
WoW is more populated, but only in new zones, gw2 have activity in all maps.
Have you even played since megaserver change? Cause what you are saying is simply not true.
I work swing shift so I play really late at night and I am surprised how navy other players I see doing events and world bosses at 2am.
The OP hasn’t responded all day to their own thread. I’m guessing this was just some sort of rant for some alternate reason and not so much looking for information into their “apparent” issue.

Plenty of people in Cursed Shore when I was doing map completion the other day.
Malchor’s Leap is mostly for gathering stuff.
Straits of Devastation is just an annoying zone.
Yeah, I thinks players just move past Straits of Devastation as fast as they can.

Gah, it’s one of my favorite zones! lol
