Q:

So, I’ve often seen the destroyed remains of the Energy Probes around Tyria, but never an active one. I’m assuming this was from a previous event… but the wiki doesn’t give much info. So, are they still interactable or just a leftover relic?

A:

Interacting with them doesn’t do anything now; they’re leftover relics from part of the Scarlet storyline.

They were an early part of LS 1. Mysterious probes showed up around Tyria and spawned things to fight (iirc) and knocked you on your butt if you fiddled with them. Players mapped them out and discovered they were along ley lines. They were part of Scarlet’s study of the ley so she could set up the burst to wake Mordremoth.

Now their shattered remains are still there, as no one seems to have felt like using them for scrap. Which is odd, I think one reason a lot of castles turned into ruins so fast in our world is later residents of the area going hey, free stone that’s already worked and I don’t have to carve it out of the ground and drag it for miles before shaping it into a block. Why wouldn’t engineers glom onto the scrap metal from the probes?
