This is based on my opinion, I have a warror charr and an asura engineer, having a tough time deciding, what class would you guys pick?

Warrior Charr:
Cons:
-Dull and plain skills which makes PVE a bit boring for me
-As a charr some of the armour looks funny but most of them looks pretty cool

Pros
-Straight forward and easy
-Heavy armour can look amazing compared to other type of armors which gives me motivation to keep leveling
-Weapons looks great compared to other professions

Engineer:
Cons:
-Some armour is pretty decent looking (COF/dungeon armours mostly) but some of it looks unattractive compared to heavy armour(Crafted armous/loot/etc)
-Asuras are small making them less noticable, people will most likely ignore you (let’s say you got a legendary on an Asura) they can look “adorable” though.
-No motivation to craft a lot/get gear besides a few couple of them, in a nutshell not the best armour.
-Engineer is a harder class to use which makes it chalenging which I like, but some people might hate it.

Pros:
-EXPLOTIONS EVERYWHERE, cool animations, etc. Love playing the engineer due to their skills
-Fun class to use skill wise, which kept me up playing the engi but at one point I stopped and created a warrior due to it being more “cool” gear wise.
-Challenging which I like (tool kits/etc)
-Small in PVP, less likely to be targeted first

I have a level 25 Warrior and a level 20 engineer, currently having a tough time which one to focus on to level 80. What class would you guys pick?

idk what im doing

Engineer are pretty good in dungeons too, they have higher dps than warriors. The only reason pugs love warriors is because they are easy to play so less likely to get dead weight on your team.

I’d say go engineer because the class has alot of depth, you can invest hundreds if not thousands of hours and still find cool things to do with the class.

I play an asura full zerk grenade / bomb kit + rifle engi in PVE. full ascended with medium t3 set. (the best looking set ingame for engie ! ) since head start.

no regrets.

the rotation is actually very simple. it just involves swapping from grenade kit -> using cool down. to bomb kit using cooldowns + blast finishers -> swapping to rifle using blunderbuss + jump shot and repeat.
I also have the rocket turret for the toolbelt skill as that crits 15k + at 25 stacks of might after the might nerf, its also good for using the rocket turret + overcharge ability b4 it fires a rocket to CC mobs / players with its knock down.

one of the big downsides of being an engineer is the common misconception that we are “bad dps” which is not true. esp when in full zerk gear using said kits + rifle. its like with rangers. a lot of engineers are bad at the class giving us skilled players a bad name.

as a result of this “misconception” I sometimes with in seconds of joining a party get kicked because “engineer” as a reason.

also as many have stated before in other posts like this warrior = great sword skill 2 -> swap to axe use skills + axe burst -> swap to great sword 2. pop down said banners and win.
due to warriors base health pool of 18k + a single low grade trait u can have 20k + hp in full zerk gear + any health increase from WvWvW health buff on the server you play on can easy hit 21k + which makes warrior extremely moron friendly and very forgiving.

anyway back on track engineer is a very fun and rewarding class once you learn to play it well and make the effort to do well. a lot of pugs are now coming to accept that engies can do a metric ton of dmg and provide usefull buffs like fire fields and moght stacking during combat with no downtime on rotation + provide perma 20+ stacks of vuln at all times thanks to grenade kit 3-4 + stacks of vuln per grenade skill + any other sources of vuln for average of 24 stacks for the duration of a fight.

Charr have notoriusly ugly looking armor and axe/maces have practically no good skins. So I would not focus on your warrior if you like barbiedoll wars 2. Now asura are not much better since you are using medium but at least there is less clipping.

Now for the actual class break downs!
Warrior: Great in pve, spvp and wvw! Reaching the ideal rotation in pve is very easy and you are not required to be very reactive. in spvp and wvw you have a lot of build vairty for your class so thats nice.

Engi: Also very good in pve, spvp and wvw. As far as ideal dps rotations in pve… well you’re screwed (even some of the best pve players find the rotation hard). Engi is by far one of the hardest to get down. When it comes to spvp you have a good build vairity and turret engi is ridiculously easy to play. In WvW engi is one of the most annoying classes to fight. Though in wvw the builds tend to require more skill than warrior ones.

Engineer and Warrior is the obvious answer. Level both to 80, then decide. If you are bored with one… play another. Most thats played the game since release have all classes at 80 in full exotic/ascended. You are not going to have fun for years by limiting yourself.

Why not both? Give em a try. It’s pointless to ask random people on the forum what they think if, you know what you enjoy to play. Ultimately you play this game for fun, right?

Engineer requires a higher APM to play properly, for some that’s a turn off for others that’s the part that makes it more fun.

There is one thing you need to consider greatly. Engineers are sorely lacking in cosmetics. Using kits is a must and when you do your equipped weapon(s) disappear and a standardized kit backpack replaces whatever you have equipped in your backslot.
As a result any cool weapons or back pieces you might gather and want to show off will most of the time, while actively playing, be invisible and you will look at standard skins. The same skins from lv1 to lv80, used by every Engineer.
Or no skins at all in case of the bomb kit and grenade kit, which lack a weapon animation and only have a backpack.

So if you are someone who likes to spend time on customizing a character to look cool and enjoy what you got and cobbled together, than I’d strongly recommend against Engineer.

Problem is warrior is pretty dull, I have to say the same goes for guardian however they got cool looking armours unlike us engineers. Engineers are pretty fun In terms of skills, kits, utilities, unlike warriors where most of the utilities are buffs that are not interesting. This is based on my opinion however, finally comes down to good looking gear and plain/straightforward skills or fun and challenging character that can be rewarding but in return a mediocre to poor looking gear.

Sounds like you made up your mind. Glad we could help Enjoy your new found purpose in burning dragons eyebrows off with various devices that never in a million years would pass safety standards.

I’d still suggest you give Warrior a try, its not as dull as it sounds. It’s a matter of finding a build you like to play.

So play Engineer then, seems like you already decided lol.

Personally I am one of those that have a strong hate for kits. I just cant work them. I know some are awesome, but I am more likely to accidentally put a grenade in my ear than I am tossing it towards the enemy. I will never fully play the Engineer. And thats make it less fun.

Go for engi.

After maining mesmer and sub-maining guardian and ele, I’ve tried playing warriors (got even 2 of them) and it just feels so braindead and boring that I can’t stick to it.

On the other hand, if you start as a warrior, you’ll have a whole new game to explore once you switch to other classes, so…

20 level 80s and counting.

Go with engineer, warrior gets really stale after a while and engineers are way more fun. Also charr have a lot of animation problems and clipping and most people dont like heavy armor because it gets boring after a while on charr. I find asura armor to be really cool, altho sometimes not noticeable. I really like medium t3 and a mix of carapce and some other stuff. also if u get a total makeover kit, which can give you some great hairstyles and cute faces for asuras, make him/her as tall as possible and your legendary will be seen
