Engineers End Game?
No, make some other profession. Try a warrior or a mesmer.
treadmill, of being in that obvious pattern of every time I catch up you are going to
put another carrot in front of me” – Mike O’Brien right before Ascended weapons
really? i thought they were some what good?
Engineers are fun. Only at level 35 but I can already tell that grenades and elixir gun will be heaps helpful in all dungeons.
Engineers are considered bad by many people, sometimes even you’ll get rejected from dungeon/fractal groups. You’ll be fully support and won’t do nearly as much damage as a warrior/thief…any profession really.
If you like playing them, go ahead and play them. Meet good people, join a good guild. If you have a good guild they won’t care what profession you are even if you are considered the weakest.

They are fun but basically anything you can do in a dungeon another class can do better with more damage.
well that’s depressing, you think they will be buffed?
Only reason I stopped playing my engy was I had a nade build and your hand will start hurting after a while because you have to keep spamming the 1 button just to attack

New skill updates this month (I think?) As for them getting buffed, I doubt it. It’ll probably be more of skill nerfs for other professions to level the playing field. That being said, I’ve seen some kitten engineers in pvp that are hard as hell to kill. They aren’t all bad…

You are aware you can select one of your attacks and allow it to auto-attack? It’s not limited to your guns, shield or rifle.

Obviously someone who has never played an engi.

Doesn’t work for grenades.
OP, roll an engineer. Support is important, which I found out quickly by playing my shout heal hammer control warrior.
I maxed my Charr Engineer. I do hope you are talking about RoRo.

The problem is engi support isn’t any better than your warrior or an ele for example but brings way less dmg.

Tell me how then

So you have grenades on autoattack often then?
No, but I do it with the flame thrower.

Go try to turn on autoattack for grenades. I’ll wait.
Actually, go try to turn on autoattack for any ground target skill.
It’s called Ctrl + Mouse 2.
Edit: Are you so kitten to expect an auto attack from an AOE kit?
Edit2: It works perfectly underwater though.

I must be getting trolled right now. No one could be this stupid legitimately.
It’s easy to call someone a troll when it is you who does not understand.

Did you even read what I wrote the first time before you quoted me? Please go re-read it

Kit Refinement + Elixir Gun is obscene amounts of healing. It can total for over 18k and it’s AoE. Not to mention it packs in some AoE Condition removal.
Grenade Kit + Static Discharge + Kit Refinement is obscene amounts of damage. Defense is still great with medkit, and you can mix it with Utility Goggles, which are not only anti-blind, but a stun breaker and 10 stacks of vulnerability.
Engineers are easily the best class for stacking vulnerability to 25 and keeping it there. One Grenade kit kit refinement spike and they’ve hit max.
Anyone who says Engineers are sup par have not fully explored the class. They are certainly not as easy, but there are a couple great builds. Does the class need work? Of course, but it’s far from useless.
Message me any time in game.
No, roll a thief or a warrior will grant you waay more fun.
I play an Engineer.
I’m full of exotics, mastered 2 diciplines, and I’m slowlly oncovering the whole world.
They are fun, but not good.
- The elixir gun becomes a joke at later levels.
- Every boon skill you use is a gamble. Even some other skills have gamble effects.
- If you are playing with kits, then your Legendary weapons won’t even be visible.
- Your Turrets don’t scale with your gear stats.
- The only elite that it’s usefull is the supply drop, and whatever racial.
- Whether you use pistols, rifles, or kits, you damage output is pathetic.
- Their downed state skills is also pathetic.
- Grenade kit and toolbelt kits are very tricky to use without the aid of a Razor Naga (I love this mouse).
- They still have some bugs. Kit’s are unequiping whenever you lift an enviromental item, your auto Elixir S trait kicks in and also at randomly.
- Toolbelt skills have big cooldowns for small results.
- Using underwater speargung skills is like asking to die.
- They don’t weapon swap, so all weapon swaping abilities from sigils are useless.
- Their usable weapon list is even smaller than an elementalist’s.
- The tool kit (wrench) turns you into a melee, yet it is supposed to be used to repair turrets that are supposed to be on the back, and it does little there as well!
- It doesn’t help that it is considered the second most complicated to use class.
Engineers are only good for support, and they aren’t anything special there ether because of the randomness. The best builds out there are based on elixirs and no kits, and they carefully choose their skills so they won’t involve random results.
I’ve tried some other classes and I almost regret having this one as my main. My only hope is that they’ll buff it up in some patch, and perhaps add one or two extra usable weapons (the mace for example).

I enjoy playing my Grenade Engineer. Then again, I also do more than spam 1. Almost always, my other skills are generally on cooldown meaning that something is getting a ton of bleeds, blinded, chilled, poisoned, and/or barraged by a crap ton of grenades.
However, it’s one of the more trickier professions to play because it takes a lot more to make the best out of your Engineer compared to say a Warrior, which is rather simple to play. For the most part, I have enjoyed every moment of it. That’s not say its a perfect, bug-free profession— it isn’t, but I’ve been stubborn enough to deal with the changes and adapt to them. In a personal note, someone can wave to me a bunch of DPS spreadsheets like dollar bills to a hooker, but my take is that if you got the skill and knowledge to know your profession and how they work, then it shouldn’t matter much. I know my usual group doesn’t complain about my performance when we do dungeons, and we clear the content on a timely matter.

I agree with this so far.
I’m in early leveling and am liking eng so far, though I am picking up these gaping holes and wondering whether they get filled in.
Currently running P/P with grenade kit and find the synergy amazing.
Whenever I’m out of endurance I always have a blind, glue, or chill to kite with.
I’d like to see better condition damage, though, because what is “just at par” in early leveling on conditions will quickly fall behind as cond damage becomes more gear dependent.
