Environment effects in PVE
No more in base game, but I’m sure there’ll be something like this in HoT.
But I agree with Paulytnz. Slower is not more fun. A massive AoE of damage that you cannot avoid is in no way fun at all.

In the most situations, ofc. It’s not fun, but it could give more realistic feelings. What if add to slow move on ice —> sliding (if you have swiftness) with 30% chance to fall (for 1sec)
I don’t think realism is what the go is. I think balance is. If things were implemented for every type of environment like you’re suggesting, honestly I would quit the game. How would one stay out of combat with those affects constantly lingering? There’d be no more use of waypoints at all, among many other issues.
If you want realism then go camping. I’m not looking for that in my living room.
Please don’t try to change the game just for the sake of changing it. Try to change it because it would improve the QoL for players. If you dislike it the way it is then I suggest finding another game to play.

The only time slow is fun or cool is in “bullet time” situations. Now if Anet could pull something off like that somehow in combat, then wow just wow I will eat my hat and say “yes please!”. I’m not sure if that could work in conjunction with environment effects however.
I could imagine a new Elite Specialisation for some class to become like a drunken boxer, again – cool. But again probably nothing to do with environment effects.
If you could come up with some cool/interesting examples of how slow (and any other effect for that matter) could work or be cool/fun then I could be swayed.
Minor effects like this could be interesting, if it didn’t stick you in combat and
make
you

There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon
Some of the environmental effects from GW1 say like, “The Deep” were fun do deal with. Also the Realm of Torment. They added a persistent kind of excitement where you had to keep pressing on before your toon simply gave out.
I don’t like the idea for this in open world maps, but for dungeons and other instanced content (raids, fractals, etc) this would be very cool.
