What sort of responses are you expecting when you post a whine thread that gets brought up like once a week?

I think its fine, PvP happens on PvP map.
It’s by design I’m afraid. There are PvP relevant loot in the puzzles and even your own side can activate traps on allies. I know it’s upsetting but it’s a part of wvw
Trolling? I guess you are new here and in EB. To be able to get to the chest in EB once a week is already considered lucky.

Don’t be too harsh. The OP probably doesn’t ever PvP and is not used to such hostile tactics in PvP. OP I suggest you try not to presume jumping puzzles a PvE domain activity. Might help you get some perspective. It certainly sucks to be at the business end of it.

I can see that. I don’t mind getting killed by someone, I just don’t understand the siege being in a puzzle. Then again I guess from the perspective of the winning side it is a way to keep the puzzle so that they can get their badges all week.
Seeing an AC is not uncommon. Although FA tends to put up 3 or 4 AC’s and a few ballistas. Partly for the annoying factor, and partly to help limit the siege on the rest of the map I’d assume. Expect a few people to bow and be nice, but the rest will gank you for sure. As was hinted at above though, you do tend to find the last place team camping the puzzle. (and the second place team, and the first place team)

If you don’t mind getting killed by someone in the jp then you understand that there is a motive for invaders to kill you in the puzzle. Siege is simply a way to help them kill you faster and more effectively. Therefore you should understand why siege is placed in the jp.
Just out of curiosity does anybody else have opponent servers who actually put up arrow carts and ballistas in the eternal JP? I understand people camping it but having siege in it seems a little ridiculous to me. I think that siege deployment should be blocked in the jumping puzzle as well but that’s just my opinion. What does everyone else think? I do believe that it is more than a LITTLE annoying when you get camped by people with siege in the JP after you just spend 20 minutes getting that far…
It’s a PVP map, it’s not surprising that PVP ends up being part of doing the jumping puzzle xD
I think it’s hilarious.
As I understand, the OP doesn’t have a problem with the PvP in the JP, but with the siege equipment.
And that part I understand, it’s kinda like bringing a gun to a knife fight. A bit overkill, and thus kills the fun.
I would certainly agree to make the JP siege free, there are already enough tools provided to make your opponents miserable. And as a nice side effect it doesn’t block siege equipment in the “real” battlefield.
Problem is that those sieges are more PvP inhibitors than anything else. I’d rather have the JP stay some place for small scale PvP where people come and go and there’s often some activity than this camping.
- Spawn camping with mesmers to pull people down from the entrance as soon as they get in, sometimes as soon as they finish loading
- Camping in the trap spots that are extremely difficult to pass by like the log
- Forcing putting people in combat from high away positions that are very hard to reach without speed and with people pelting you and no real alternate routes
- And of course, the siege engine camping that happens
Our server is winning big time, which have made the losing server, the Germans, crazy, and they have taken over the whole jumping puzzle, so you can’t even take drink from the invisibility well because they are shooting randomly at platforms.
Still funny though.
There are mystic fountains in the puzzle. Use them.

But it’s not a knife fight in the first place. It’s a gun fight. You can put up your siege equipment too.
I have a solution – remove the jumping puzzles from WvW.
yeah there are siges on my server also hahaha lots of sige things from each side ::P
I have a solution – remove the jumping puzzles from WvW.
The chests gives you WvW items so no.
Is the jumping puzzle optional? Yes.
Is it in a pvp zone? Yes.
Do players attack other players in a pvp zone? Yes.
Should you expect to be attacked while doing the jumping puzzle? Yes.
There are other jumping puzzles throughout the game so why focus on this one? If you need the badges then you should realize that they are part of WvW which is pvp. If you don’t want to pvp in the puzzle then use the mystic fountains.

Because other jumping puzzles are do-able… for all the people saying it’s fine the way it is, I encourage you to do it then to shut all the complainers up. And no, a strategy involving running the JP at some absurd off-peak time is not a strategy; that’s merely finding a point where the flaws of the puzzle’s design are less apparent… It’s also not skill-based strategy as much as a luck-based one; which defeats the purpose of the JP and PvP.
I have done it numerous times. If you read the post you quoted then you would see I recommended using mystic fountains. I rarely have issues.
You can also grab those in the puzzle and coordinate an attack.

They don’t work when you get camped at the entrance and pulled down and killed from the door.

Coordinate an attack. We’ve done this many times and have freed up the entrance.

Which misses the point about the whole thing really.
Also, the dark room and the room after with the cages is very hostile to pass even with the invisibility fountains. And even with a coordinated attack.

I agree 100%! I am a casual PvPer and generally I prefer PvE however there are these things called legendary weapons that force non-PvP players into a PvP situation where they don’t really want to be. If it weren’t for legendary weapons I don’t think anyone would complain about this.
That being said, I think that their should be a non-competitive mode for PvE players where as long as they are not attacking or doing things to impact WvW they cannot be attacked. If PvP players are camping and killing other PvP players, no harm no foul. And those that just want their tokens can stay out of the way! Easy!

So a jumping puzzle is supposed to be easy? It’s in a pvp zone so it’s going to be different from the others. Pvp is part of the jumping puzzle.
There really should be no issue getting through the dark room and the dome while cloaked. You don’t need a torch if you have the Halloween back piece. The only issue would be if people are spamming siege or laying traps but that’s on rare occasions.
I think the problem is as a pve player, that they need to make pve and pvp completely separate things, they didn’t do that in Aion and they lost their behinds in the end with people leaving en masse because of the lack of progression in pve zones.
They need to remove the requirement for wvw for 100% map completion, remove the requirement for wvw jump puzzles to complete the jump puzzle achiev, and take out a few things in the monthly and everything should be fine.

No it’s not supposed to be easy. But I don’t like the kind of PvP you promote. All I see is skill less trap camping, spawn camping, using siege weapons against lone and small group players and the need to outzerg the campers to remove them. TBH, I don’t even care for finishing the JP in the first place! I go there to PvP and when I find I’m zerg camped, stuck with impassable traps between me and the other players or I see my team zerg camping itself, it just defeats the point of going there to have some fun.
Also, the dark room part shouldn’t be doable only for players that got the Halloween book or have the fire sword from HoM. Note that I have both and use them but it’s still something that feels broken and unfair for every new player that didn’t farm GW1. The ability to pass the dark room unmolested shouldn’t be dependent on one of those unattainable in normal gameplay equipment pieces.

where is the EB jumping puzzle? i have been scrubbing for 2 weeks exploring around for completion, and it’s tough.

They’re reached by going through a portal at one of the keeps.
At the SW keep, if you start at the waypoint and go north towards the repair npc, head out through the door. Go down the stair and immediately go left (west). You’ll see it on the left.
For the north keep, it’s right below the big statue of the Minotaur what also has a vista. Go down the stairs at the base.
I can’t remember exactly where it is at the SE keep since my server rarely starts on that side. I believe it’s in the NW courtyard underground by the vista.

I never use a torch or the backpiece. equip an aoe skill and have the green circle active to guide you through the dark area. It’s much easier than using a small torch.
Though if you have to use a fire item than grab a torch from just outside the dark area.

You cannot use your two options while under the stealth effect of the Mystic Fountains though.
I’ve seen several trebuchets on another server’s starting balcony. unmanned, but funny that they were there. Guess we were up against friendly enemies.
I’ve also seen youtube videos of several siege golems PvPing people in the jumping puzzle. One of the funniest things I’ve seen.
There are numerous points in this puzzle where you can make life hard for people behind you. I know 100% that it’s designed into it that it’s still a PvP area, even if I won’t attack anyone who hasn’t attacked me

Yesterday I saw people with arrow carts and ballistas, eating chili and weenies out of a can waiting for people get kitteny enough to try and take their puzzle. Such a waste of time just to troll people looking to get badges/puzzle achievement.
After 3 weeks of daily tries to get the EB puzzle done “I?” did it. How? I finally spotted a small group of allies huddled under the finish area standing in the water. So I investigated and they were waiting for a portal. A minute later the Mesmer dropped a portal and I was at the chest! Now I’ve done it I don’t think I’ll go back, the BL puzzle is so easy to complete in comparison.
IMO the EB puzzle is luck based if you don’t have a zurg to protect you or zap you to the top…
My advice is don’t solo the puzzle.

I also like the trolls/spies on your own server who place siege on the chest so it is harder to click to open it. Now that is an interesting use of siege in the EB jp.
I often take my mesmer into the puzzle and then troll the campers. I’ve knocked their mesmers off the platforms numerous times so they can’t port anyone up.
