Events: Can be tracked, worth it as solo?

Starting the games, and events are starting to really really annoy me.

If I am alone where an event is taking place – should I even bother?

I work and struggle so hard to get it done, and then if 2-3 people join, it’s so so easy.

But it’s so rare now that I actually have other people there doing the event with me, that it’s becoming more frustration than anything. We’re not even talking the ones labelled group events. Things were I need to destroy 8 things while keeping an onslaught back – I can’t help but think these weren’t designed to be soloed.

I don’t mind other people btw, there is just no one around.

At the very least, is there a way to track which events I have completed, and which remain to be done? Kinda like how I can see I’ve completed all hearts. These events have a lot of lore and story, and missing a bunch = not really knowing the story of the zone. I want to ensure I obtain the lore at least.

There’s no way to track which ones you’ve done, because unlike hearts, they’re meant to be repeated. But after a while, you learn which types of events you enjoy and which you don’t. For example, I enjoy escort quests (and this is this first game that’s true for). So I do escort quests when I come across them.

Just do the ones you enjoy, skip the ones you don’t.

No, no way to ensure the event was completed before other than remembering you did.

A couple of tips.. if you find an event that’s hard to do, sometimes making a map call helps, just type in map “XXX event starting near YYY waypoint” (if you don’t know, shift+click on waypoint on minimap links it on chat) and, at least in my experience, most of the times one or two people will show up to help.

And even if you feel you can’t do the event, try to stick around a bit (unless it’s one of those that won’t fail, like some escorts), event failures, while it won’t count towards achievements or dailies/monthlies, will still award you with karma and XP, and lots of them do have follow ups you can try (for example, fail to defend an outpost, chances are you’ll either get to defend another one from attack soon enough, or an event to try to retake it).

It’s a pile of Elonian protection magic, mixed with a little monk training,
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
