Evolved Kabuto Wars 2
Evolved kabuto is a kabutops right. Seriously what I thought of first. No idea what this other kabuto thing you talk about is, no clue at all.
So trying to read what you said again… humhum.. so you want players to be able to turn into monsters? Some npc monsters for players to hunt? I’m not sure I understand it.

Think Evolve. It’s the latest in asymmetrical pvp matches. A group vs a single monster. Imagine a pvpish match where a player pilots a champion monster against you.
Citizen Kabuto is an old, cult classic game that’s one of the first to introduce asymmetrical pvp with three factions fighting eachother. And it was done right. You should really check it out on google or YT just to grasp the concepts of it.
Evolve was released not that long ago and was heavily inspired by Citizen Kabuto. You get 5 hunter players and 1 player that plays as a huge monster that evolves throughout the game and becomes more powerful as it feeds on wildlife on the map.
With this concept you get to fight the best “AI” possible, player driven monster
So like a siegemachine, only it is a monster you control instead?
Maybe it could work for a PvP mode. Don’t see how this could be added to PvE in any way…. maybe a few special events or something.
Kabuto is actually the name of a type of helmet used in ancient Japan. I think the pokémon was called that because they’re based on horseshoe crabs, which are sometimes also called helmet crabs. But the name appears in numerous other places in games and pop-culture generally, especially stuff made in Japan.
But the OP is referring to Giants:Citizen Kabuto and Evolve, which are both shooters where some players are humans/humanoids and other players are giant monsters fighting with or against them.
So basically the OP is suggesting a new PvP mode where 1 player takes control of a monster attacking players, with unique skills rather than their normal ones, and a team of other players tries to defeat them. (And just made the, fairly common, mistake of assuming everyone was equally familiar with the two games used as an example.)
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”

Well we already have costume brawls in pve world which is basically the most watered down version of pvp you can get without ppl completely flipping out, and we often fight champions in open world and sometimes even die to their powerful attacks. These would be next level of difficulty since they would be player driven. That would completely eliminate auto-attack-afk crowd and would require much better player coordination to defeat the monster.
I mainly suggested them being in open world as it would cut the need for making new maps and are far more expansive than pvp maps ie more space to maneuver, more monster chasing and more places to hide.
Kabutops is one of my favorite pokemon, guiz.

OT. I think I at least get it now, but sorry… I can’t really get behind this idea… doesn’t really seem that great to me.

no reward just a mini game?
so or so I like the idea its like a next level of gaming

Well yeah that could be possible too since, when it comes to designing content sky is the limit. That goes twice in cases where pretty much all the mechanics are in place. You can probably put same content in any game mode (open world, spvp, and guild fun activity).

I believe elaboration of it is in order. First you misunderstood the suggestion. Then derailed it with pokemons. And then you don’t like it without giving any explanation. I mean we all fight champion monsters on daily basis. Is it because it’s player driven?

I was not the only one mentioning pokemon though, I do know it was offtopic, hense the OT meaning on topic afterwards. Not my fault I did not know the games you were talking about and when you don’t know those games the suggestion at first is hard to understand and obviously not able to make a stand without understanding. Actually I am fine with the concept as a PvP format of some kind, might actually be fun. But I really really want for PvP and PvE to be seperate. I get that part of the idea is to make champions more difficult, but I don’t think they have to be that.
So as a minigame of sorts, instanced or PvP format, might be really fun. But in the open PvE world… not really… sorry.
