I just wanna know if I read this correctly and am left to assume this accurately.

Under Glint’s instructions, roughly 300 years ago the Forgotten sought out human volunteers who shared their reverence for Glint’s dream of securing a peaceful future. After a rigorous set of tests and trials, the most worthy of these volunteers underwent a ritual that converted their bodies into pure magical energy which were then encased in golden metal armor. From this point forward, they were known as the Exalted.

Does this mean that the Exalted, in their once original form, were human?

Also, she said this was addressed on the Exalted introduction page, I like read it twice, maybe I need to wake up more:

Someone in FB said that the Exalted reminded them of the Mursaat. RB said this was addressed here: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-exalted-pure-dedication/

Heck if I could find it… but I just woke up too, so… more coffee is needed, no doubt.

Now from what I did read, the Exalted, MAYBE once human who became transformed tells me there are in no way related to the Mursaat. Mursaat were another entity all their own who didn’t even come from Tyria?

P.S., Humans undergoing that kind of transformation? That had to hurt…

I use to be a Ritualist and a Paragon in my former life…

There are some threads about this topic over in the HoT sub-forum.

Basically, Exalted were once human and Exalted are not Mursaat. (Though there are some interesting speculations concerning the Exalted and the Mursaat.) There is confirmation on the GW Wiki, way back when, that the Enchanted Armors (which are now thought to be early (cousins of?) Exalted were not Mursaat.

Good luck.

Not maybe. The exalted were all once human.

They share some very vague similarities with the jade constructs of the mursaat, at best. They share almost nothing with the mursaat directly.

The mursaat were a powerful race of magic users, they were fleshy.

They’re all dead at this point, the very last one being a very damaged being (Lazerous the Dire). From hundreds of years ago.

He’s probably dead and if he isn’t, he’s a lone broken specimen forever stuck wandering about in the folds of dimensions lest he materialize and die.

By comparison, the exalted are beings of pure eldritch energy. They’re even more trippy than the mursaat at this point. The mursaat were mortals.

As beings of pure eldritch energy, the Exalted have a much more advanced facility with magic than their former fleshy selves ever did. They are also effectively immortal—they do not age and are extremely durable, though they can still be killed by violence or by draining their essential magic. Exalted retain their names, personalities, and memories of the past, but they no longer eat or require sleep, allowing them to devote their attention and energy entirely to their duties.

A more apt comparison might be the animated armors the forgotten once used in the Crystal Desert from GW1.

Though, I don’t believe those specifically were actually people so much as magical constructs without sentience.

The exalted are like a hardcore version of those that utilize a willing worthy human.

Maybe that’s where we get some of the human stories about the original maguuma druids, hmm?

Well, the Exalted need not sleep, nor… eat? I think I read… that would otherwise make them immortal, one would speculate, but… in this game it was already proven that magic/energy is a limited resource.

So, one could argue that if they neither sleep or eat, yet fully function, that may mean that they live off their own energy source. However, if magic/energy is a limited resource, one could say that are not immortal and their time in existence is limited?

(And yes, I know they can be killed)

They’re ‘biologically immortal’. Or, as much sense as that can make magically speaking. They’re not biological in the strictest sense, but you get my meaning I’m sure.

The jist being that they don’t tire or need rest, food, etc. They can go on forever undisturbed.

They can still be killed with sufficient violence or say, a dragon eating the specific magical energy that they are.
