Decided to buy the witch and mad king outfit among a million other things to add to the fun of the upcoming Halloween events. Can’t wait to take my guild and go have tons of fun like I always do every year.

Maybe I will even be able to complete that darn jumping puzzle this year if it come back!

I hope others are as excited as I am!

All the nasty stuff aside – I’m excited as well.
I’ve been preparing for the last week or so and have myself a full set of Arah armor that goes nicely with the theme to wear for this Halloween.

If here they fall they shall live on when ever you cry “For Ascalon!”

Yes, some Halloween is better than no Halloween. And I do love me some Halloween. I’ve got my toons decked out in homemade Halloween gear too. The necro starting masks look fantastic for this – the skull mask on my pale green sylvari looks very creepy.

Plus with the guild bank mergers, I will finally be able to clear the 3k candy corn that was sitting forgotten in a personal guild bank I forgot to empty before switching servers way back when.

I really think Halloween is the most magical time of the year. I mean, the most magical time of the year in the game. Yeah, yeah, that’s what I meant.

The new rewards look good, the event is always fun, and it’s a great way to reconnect with guildies and friends. Hope to see y’all in the game!

Oh yes! Check this: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/tyrias-point-of-no-return/ sort of near the bottom.

“Refreshed rewards” seems to suggest something new or something much loved that is returning. In either case, it sounds good to me!

Chalk another one excited for halloween… and this year I AM going to finish that clocktower!!!…

It’s a pile of Elonian protection magic, mixed with a little monk training,
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.

they won’t bring that back…..too valuable and desired (i feel the same way about my 2012 scythe skin…not that its valuable, but that so few use it it feels genuinely unique).

they will simply bring back last years skins, with new ways to get them (some form of token collection and/or rng bag.
if we were getting “new” ones, they would have said “new”. “refresh” was carefully chosen.

the whole sentence was " these releases will feature the same content as last year but with refreshed rewards, giving you fun new festival-themed items to earn." which actually made me think it would be new items.

but with Gaile saying that it could suggest “something much loved is returning”,
i dunno, people have been asking repeatedly for the 2012 halloween skins to lose all of their prestige and value! (aka for them to be re-added) XD

i think it’ll be new items though “same content with refreshed rewards” sounds like new items, lets hope!

as for the main point of the thread…..“excited” would be a bit too strong given its the same content (and likely same rewards), but i’m definitely looking forward to a few of the returning events (especially that survivalist pvp “hide-and-go-seek” game from last year….just a really fun and cool change of pace).

I was getting so enthusiastic that halloween was getting closer, because I was looking forward to seeing how the story of Mad King Thorn and Edrick would continue.

Personally I’ve got no problem with them keeping the traditional events like the labyrinth and the mini games and just adding new rewards. Foundation events are part of what gives holidays their theme and their charm. But to hear that they’re doing nothing to the story, after all the enthusiasm shown by the devs in last years halloween stream, after the excited hints that they introduced Edrick last year, to set up the story for future years… Well, I can only imagine the devs are as disappointed as I am.

The thought that NCsoft may have influenced this turn of events and enforced the radio silence to do with any questions about halloween had occured to me.

So instead of being drawn into a magical story with hilarious, witty dialogue and tantalising lore snippets, we get to watch as it stagnates and pretend that our characters never encountered the Bloody Prince last year. Grinding candycorn for new shinies is fun I guess but it’s always been the story that made GW2 a fun, immersive world for me, and nowhere do I feel that more strongly than with Halloween

And why do you believe, are so many people asking for those 2012 skins hmmm?? Think about it just for once..

Not because of the year 2012 being the so great and most awesome year ever of the dragon.. no sure not.

But because 2012 was basically the year of the hacker!!

Extremely alot of peopel got exactly when Halloween was occuring their accounts hacked (me wering 2 years ago part of that too sadly) and which are sad about it, that we hads for 2 years no no simple chance to get such nice little things, like the mad memoires…

Stuff like the scythe staff/great saw ect are way too overprices, this stuff has currently the worth of legendaries and thats way over the top for just some silly holiday skins.
Only because some older skins might get reintroduced doesnt automatically mean, that anet has to flood the marked with them so that these skins will be just some copper coins worth after the events..

thats pure nonsense, so stay real guys!! This wont happen.

I seriously hope a new form of scacenger hunt for mad memoires comes back and what I also wont forget, the pumplings have to return together with their title!!!

That stupid hack left me even not enough time to get those pumpkins done before the event got removed >.< Seriousl,y it cant be frcking wished too much to bring more of the original 2012 holiday stuff back…

Why are peopel so god darn entitled about it, that these things should never return, how can people just be so god darn selfish!
What would you think, if you would have been just 2 years ago one of those reallly alot of people, who got their accounts hacked and wouldnt have been able to complete anything from the very first halloween, what isn’t your fault, due to the game having started with some serious security problems that the game had like the first half year long after release…

I think, if more people could just imagine, how it was for all those hacked people to miss/lose the content thanks to some idiots with too much free time, more people could maybe understand by now , why the demand especially for the 2012 holiday stuff is so high as it has been for the last two years now and it would be extremely diappointed to see nothing of 2012 returning this time, when last year absolutely nothign of it returned at all.
But last year, there existed also no wardrobe and no chinese servers full of millions of players, which also couldn’t get those things cause they simply couldnt play the game at all at that time.
So suich these 2 reasons are big enough of an incentive to let something of 2012 return this time to give people, who had no chance to get those thigns this time their chance.

Repeat it and say it out LOUD – CHANCE.

You know, it means, that you don’t have to get it guaranteed, which is a simple method to control a market to not let something overflood it, so that an item totally devalues to toilet paper niveau you know???

Gaile, I don’t suppose you could confirm whether or not some loved favourites like Reaper’s Rumble or Ascent to Madness will be coming back this year? We would also love a way to reacquire stuff like the Mad Memoires backpiece; I have the burning version, but I dumped the basic version way back before the Wardrobe was introduced as I didn’t have the bank space to keep it at the time. I was really surprised that the higher version didn’t auto-unlock the basic version in the Wardrobe.

I personally wouldn’t mind if the 2012 Halloween skins came back either, although there’s none that I’m particularly interested in.

I posted this in another topic, but here seems appropriate as well. I only have a few concerned about using last year’s Halloween:

1) I really miss the short dungeon for fighting the Mad King from 2012, don’t know why that couldn’t simply be added in so that we can help fight his return every year along with his son the Bloody Prince

2) The story line last year was the DISCOVERY of the Bloody Prince. If it is exactly the same this year it is rather silly because the NPC will be acting like last year never happened and we are discovering him all over again.

Beyond that I’m great with Halloween event. If they could simply add a portal to Thorn’s dungeon and rewrite the script a bit so that we aren’t pretending that the previous year never happened, I’d be extremely happy.

It’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

i consider it the best time i’ve ever spent for the best item on my account.
because if you actually wanted it thats what you’d do to.
it’s still obtainable for those who really want it.

i know right…
“i want what you have, but i don’t want to work for it.”

You know, there is a really big difference in between working for something skill based and grind farming just plain dumb like a bot hundreds of thousands of gold just to be able to buy an item from a selling platform, which is no achievement, but just plain stupid.

Sure, everyone is free to decide what to do with all of their free time, but I have better things to do than to farm and grind my butt off months over months just for 1 single item skin.
I rather do something challenging thats limited to do in those holiday events (where I can also try next year again, if I wasn’t successful the last time directly) and feel REWARDED by having done something meaningful, that requires SKILL and not njust only plain dumb patience to grind gold day for day for day for day until I have just enough of it to buy the wish item from the TP.
Thats simply said no good game design to me. Such high priced items are the reasons, why some idiots use stuff, like gold selling sites or try to scam people to get somehow, regardless what it means faster on their needed gold, just so that they get get what they want with basically 0 effort that required anyhow player skills at all

If its ok for you to grind your butt off for months for like 1200 gold for a single item skin.
Good for you. Not my beer, its your decision.
But also accept that there are people, which would love to earn their thigns in a different kind of way (which currently doesns’t exist and even if it would exist, it would naturally mean then that the prices would fall down for that skin to a normal humanous level of maybe around the 500-750ish gold for a rare item, that can be obtained just only every year for just a few weeks)

Theres like only a hand few of those skins existing at all, so saying something like this

it’s still obtainable for those who really want it.

Is just plain wrong, when all what is needed is just some ultra rich people having to buyy them all off, before you could get all the gold that you need to buy one of those very less skins that exist at all (which is also the reason why the price is so insane high, because of the skin being too rare)

This game is all about fashion, so the fashion shouldn’t get locked behind ridiculous gold grind in my opinion.
If you want to get really a specific skin, each skin should have in this game somehow/where a kind of skill based permanent unlock method for it. Just my opinion

But I know that this is unlikely to happen, because of a handful of crybabies with those skins which would make a mega scene about it, if ANet would just do anything that would “devalue” their personal “wealth ensurers” that rot now since 2 years in the TP waiting for some crazy rich people to buy them off there, which is just like only less than 1% maybe of the whole playerbase, that would be able to just buy this skin fro mthere without regret cause of haviogn more than enough gold in the game and making fast enough gold in the game, that those 1200 gold would be quickly back in their pocket again.

If you would get Skin X for like doing the Clocktower JP in under x minutes , that would feel alot more rewarding, than to grind 1200 gold in this game buying it off from the TP.
Thats my honest opinion!.

Being someone who was here since beta, I’m a bit nostalgic when it comes to holiday celebrations. When we get together with family, for example, we usually practice the same traditions: egg hunts for Easter, the topping of the tree for Christmas, the carving of the Jack-o-lantern for Halloween. There is nothing wrong with wanting to build the same kind of environment in the game, it helps to build a sense of community and togetherness. Yes, the events of 2012 had their problems, but that’s not a justifiable reason to bar them from ever returning. I’m pretty sure that family get togethers aren’t always peaceful either, now are they?

I have better things to do than to farm and grind my butt off months over months just for 1 single item skin.

and that is why you won’t be one of the people who get one, and you’re here asking for it to be devalued.

if you really wanted the “silly holiday skin” as much as the few of us who have it then you’d do the grind and get the reward, like i said, it was the most worthwhile time i’ve spent in gw2 for my favourite item, i’ve only ever seen a small handful of other people with the greatsaw so it was a grind i’d gladly do again, thats how much it is worth,
to some of us.
