Your comparison with the Bonus Mission Pack is a bit lame…

Since my wife’s Trilogy copy of GW1 came with the BMP, M.O.X. and EotN.

I’m just going to throw this in here that EotN and BMP were likely purchased separately unless it was a special sale. As far as M.O.X. goes, he was a hero unlocked by having all 3 of the main campaigns so buying the trilogy set automatically unlocked him. The comparison isn’t all that lame.

For lore hunters, even a little bonus mission that all you got at the end was a token reward (as in a small thing not a token for exchange) but a tidbit into this story or that story. I mean, wouldn’t anyone want to know more about
- how the Sons of Svanir developed into a cult following Jora’s brother?
- what did Jora do after the events in EOTN?
- how did Scarlet convince the dredge and charr to form the molten alliance?

and the big one for me

- Just who is that colossus in Cliffside fractal?

I’ve got a couple too, come to think of it.

- What happened to Zinn and his golems?
- Where is the Scepter of Orr?
- Where are the other Firstborn Sylvari not met so far?
- What happened to Glint’s progeny?
- Can I make asura travel farther with a trebuchet than with a catapult?

Zinn – I think that may be LS2…. (or part)

Sceptre of Orr was taken by Glint – didn’t you remember at the end of Prophecies? Kralkatorrik may have it now.

One died – Riannoc was the one with Caladbolg – who died. Caithe and her lover (Faolain) are First Borns. Trahearne is also. There are a total of 12 First Borns. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Firstborn

We didn’t see Glint’s (Glaust) progeny – we saw eggs but that was all in GW1. They may have been corrupted by Kralkatorrik (the Crystal Dragon) – we may see more since there is a gate in Fields of Ruin to the Crystal Desert.

As far as the last – not sure – you can try the Cowtapult though….

Livia was last seen with it.

I’m ok with everything but the last bit of the op, AS LONG as it allows them to produce more and/or better content than they did before

as for the last part, no. I don’t feel like buying something just to have a chance at winning in wvw, it’s practically (or literally) p2w, which generally makes me die off a game really quickly (and that’s coming from someone who has put in over $100 in gw2 because I’ve enjoyed some of the content they’ve produced)

and @some other people

just because it’s technically free to get gems doesn’t mean people don’t have a right to complain. If it takes me 100 hours to get something that someone else can get by paying $10, I’m going to consider that pretty dumb on the companies part.

Druid main, 80 on all, Legendary ranked, Eternal and all that jazz (I go by Feyris in game)

For a game that has had an established system of occasional paid expansions, where it’s understood there is a standard of content associated with each release, this would likely be acceptable for most people. Even in GW2, if ANet wanted to put out the occasional traditional expansion that was clearly a large-scale campaign that brought a lot of new features and environments to the game, it could feel justified.

But to inject the game with smaller, more regular paid episodes and missions, it would start to feel like a scam. With every release, players will be asking: “Didn’t this used to be free? Why can’t this be part of the Living World or Living Story? How much are they cutting out of the free gameplay, to add value to paid content? Are they delaying or cutting corners on free stuff, to make time for more paid episodes? How much am I missing out on, if I don’t pay?”

I am against paying a monthly subscription for my MMOs these days, but I can almost understand the people who say they would rather just pay $15/month up front than be told a game is “free” to play but then find out premium content is blocked behind a pay wall. And unless ANet hires a bunch more people and spends additional time/money on these “optional” missions — no, they would not be producing more content, they would simply be dividing up the same amount they would have created.
