Hi forum gods, my question is if the Spearmarshal’s Presence and Lily of the Elon Permanent Pass items in the Deluxe and Ultimate edition are exclusive to those bundles or will they be purchaseable separately in the Gem Store after release? Thank you.

That would be helpful information too. I want to preorder right now but feel like if all the items in the Del Ed. are later attainable ingame I would want to pick and choose rather than buying an included makeover kit and character slot I don’t want.

I imagine the sunspear and potentially outfit are locked to the special editions, with the exception of both being most likely eligible for the guaranteed wardrobe unlock.

But the pass will most definitely be available in the store as it isn’t even usable for those that prepurchased until release.

I wasn’t really sold on any of the weapons except the lamp torch, and the outfit you can get pretty close to with basic items in the game. But it does look surprisingly good on charr.

All in all, if you know you’re going to spend the money on gems eventually it is probably a better value to just go ahead and get the ultimate since it comes with a boost, identity repair kit which are surprisingly expensive, outfit, pass, and quite a few gems.

Generally speaking, I’ve found little use for pre-order bonuses after the first few months. However, during those few months, they can be very useful.

For example, early on, there were very few glider skins, so those who invested in a deluxe game got a chance to to reskin sooner. I imagine we’ll see something similar: newer (perhaps even more useful) exclusive crafting/banking areas, more convenient to the new stuff, but… not when the game launches. Sunspear skins will probably be available as part of the story meta, but… it will take most people a while to get them.

In short, I’m assuming that there will be a short-term benefit to have the deluxe items.

And as someone else said, go Ultimate if you have ever bought gems for the game — might as well get them now & get the deluxe goodies, too.

Considering that you can get the deluxe edition bonus items of the Base game and HoT in the gem store, and have been able to since the days they launched… Yes, they will be available in the gem store…

Will they be available as separate items? of course not. They will be available as a PoF Deluxe Upgrade pack just like the other two were.

Note: the only difference between Deluxe and Ultimate is that Ultimate includes 4000 gems. So there is Zero reason for an “Ultimate Upgrade” pack to exist, nor would such an option even be a good financial decision on ANet’s part.

The only things that won’t be made available via the gem store are the Preorder bonus items… The Sunspear weapon skins from the preorder bonus will almost certainly be obtainable in game by the end of the expansion. The title is a vanity that quite honestly, very few people will make a fuss about missing out on. And the miniature, will probably end up added to the Deluxe edition bonuses eventually due to complaints, since both the original and the HoT deluxe packs included a miniature and the preorders for both were only vanity titles.

That is a good point, Panda. It’s likely they will be available in an upgrade bundle in the GS, at which point they can be purchased with ingame gold.
For a financial layman like myself this does look like a loss for ArenaNet: I buy the basic game for 30 euros, get the upgrade for the 25 euro valued 2000 gems, which is only 570 gold atm and which one can make rather quickly.
Selling 50 euros of gems for 25 is insane. Personally I would bundle the 4000 gems full price but put a super exclusive cool mount in there as well, as an incentive! I don’t even want to buy the Ultimate edition now just because I feel like I’m ripping them off…

I’m considering – to my own surprise – the Ultimate Edition as well this time. On the one hand, there are some convenience items I’d like to have after I’ve become a bit more open-minded to the in-game store. On the other hand, I’m only really playing for the story and LS Episodes. Thus I’m not interested in timesink à la farming maps, metas, gold or doing group stuff etc, which may amke the convenience items redundant <lol>.

Of course, Mahou, for you “filthy casuals” the 4k gems are a great deal. I’m actually starting to change my mind as well, since I have never in the last 2 years paid cash for anything but the initial HoT release. And I feel kind of bad for playing their game almost daily without paying one cent extra. It’s about time I gave back a little.
