Hy, recently i hit 80 with my thief character and i am now wondering what gear should i go for. I prefer going for pistol/pistol & dagger/dagger build with traits – 10/30/0/0/30. Is there any point spending money on TP to get exotic sets(like assassin’s or berserkers)? Right now it seems that i can’t get my group convinced to go dungeoning, so that way of getting gear is off and my crafting(leatherworking & weaponsmithing) is rather low. Also – what rune sets should i go for? What can you suggest me? Thanks in advance.

If you can’t get your group to go dungeoning, then there is the LFG tool where you can find random people to do the same dungeon you want to do.

If you haven’t done so already, buy some rare armor to wear in the meantime, and do Citadel of Flame with the LFG tool to earn tokens for berserker gear. It will take a short while as you can only do each path once a day for maximum tokens, but you can buy each piece with the tokens bit by bit.

Once you have your exotic gear, your rare armor which you bought off the TP can be salvaged for ectos.

Get rares and start farming mats for ascended. Weapons are already in, and armors will likely be either in next patch, or the patch after it. There’s no point in investing too much in a stuff that is no longer BiS.

1. Level 78 exotic Duelist set is better than level 80 rare. Each piece costs roughly 1g, unless it happens to have a pricey rune in it (Traveler or something).

2. Named level 80 exotic sets (dropped) is generally 1g cheaper than crafted, especially true for Berserker. The level 80 named berserker medium set is Nika’s. Search for “Nika’s”.

3. Berserker’s is better than Assassin’s, Power scales better than Precision and thieve’s crit more as an apparent class trait (My Thieves crit more with less Precision than my Ranger).

4. When buying weapons look for named weapons with berserker stats, this will typically save you money (avoid overpriced Destroyer’s though). Remember, dropped exotics are generally cheaper than crafted.

There is also Karma and WvW gear. No berserker available in Karma, but Berserker’s set WvW gear is available.
