I’ve been playing since beta and I typically take a hiatus due to seeing the same stuff over and over. My question is, why can’t we have more of the map and less of the living story? OOOORRRR why can’t the living story take place outside the zones we have and be a way to map uncharted territory so to speak? Everytime I open the map and see that only 50% or less of the map shown is actually explorable, the guild wars 1 fan in me dies a little. I want Ring of Fire, I want to explore Maguuma, Crystal Desert, Elona, and Cantha. And out of all the races you woulda thought would be made playable, instead of adding ninja birds we got plant people and gremlins…….questions asked, rant finished…

They just announced LS2 today with a picture that pretty much confirms we are getting a new map on July 1st.

Edit: Inculpatus cedo.9234 beat me to it.

one zone every couple months is not what im talking about, im talking about living story for the tengu that opens up the left side of the map with all of magumma, then living story for crystal desert as they rediscover the altars in crystal desert allowing for more ascended gear or ascended dungeon with a throw back to the ascending in guild wars 1, or living story that puts you back in cantha and adds guild vs guild 12v12 and guild halls

You want it released via the Living Story, but you don’t want it released over time?

We don’t even know, exactly, what the new story will encompass. But, if you have suggestions for the Living Story arcs, you might consider posting them over in the Living Story sub-forum. =)

Wrong, over time is fine, and I only said through living story cause of their massive kitten for it. Even if they wanted to make the zones accessible after you play through the story or open them all up for everyone regardless after that chapter has closed would be fine. From past releases of Living story we got what 1 or 2 new zones, everything else was cosmetic, Lions Arch for example.

I posted here first to see who agreed with me before I posted there but hey if you want to just read my post and not think about it or shoot it down with no real thought in mind then be my guest.

I think it’s unlikely the maguuma will have anything to do with the Tengu. Lorewise the maguuma had things like the white mantle, shining blade, bloodstone, mursaat, and the beginnings of the pale tree (sylvari).

Anet (Colin in particular) has repeatedly stated that they would like to release more of the map one zone at a time through the living story. Today’s announcement shows a picture of a zone portal in the jungle somewhere. This is after the end of LS1 clearly showing Mordremoth in the maguuma area. This is how we are getting the maguuma jungle. One zone at a time, every month or so.

I’m with you though, I would pay for an expansion that gives us an entire new continent of new zones with new dungeons and real GvG. That’s just not what we are getting in the foreseeable future.

You stated you wanted more zones from the Living Story outside what we have now. You were shown it seems likely that will happen in about a month. It’s also been stated that most, if not all, of LS S2 content will be permanent. Then, you stated that wasn’t what you were talking about, and went on to describe some different possible story arcs.

I’m not sure what it is you are asking for, or why you feel threatened.

Good luck, though. =)

Mhh, could also be a dungeon?

“Whose Kitten is this?” – “It’s a Charr baby.”
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

I understand that and all but its just that the Tengu seem to be all over the borders with Maguuma so I just threw that out as a suggestion to get us there, I just think they need to do more then trinkle in the pain meds when we are in agony for fresh sights and solid permanent content. I like the idea of Living World because it has potential to add so much to the game but not when you use whats already there and offer no real content with it besides cut scenes that every wants you to skip. Take us on an adventure with the story don’t tuck us in and tell us a bed time tale. I’ve recently bought another MMO that just released (will not name) but I’m a big fan of their story too and I think they could of taken more ques from ANET and GW2 to deliver the lore that they have built and its just nothing stands up to the sheer potential that’s just sitting there in front of us when we log into GW2.

The Tengu were in South Maguuma Jungle. They are around were the Pale Tree was found by Ventari. So, yes the Tengu may be involved at where the Tengu are found in GW2 now…..

from GW2 WIKI – The Tengu are in integral part.

“Great Tsunami

Old Lion’s Arch is swept away by the Great Tsunami.
When Zhaitan awoke in 1219 AE, in an event the tengu call the Great Tsunami, the tengu of the world saw it as a sign to return to Tyria. It was a descendant of Talon Silverwing that led the charge through Zhaitan’s risen forces, and when the tengu reached land, they built their Dominion atop the island once known as Sanctum Cay, and unified their clans into the four modern houses, one for each of the winds. Out of fear of a repeated past, they constructed a great wall to encircle their city, and non-tengu are not permitted to enter.1

Recently, as small groups of destroyers have begun surfacing on the inside of the Dominion, some of the tengu have made tentative ventures into establishing contact with the outside world. Soar Goldbeak has commissioned the asura to build an asura gate at the Hanto Trading Post (although the asura have yet to uphold their end of the bargain), and Izu Steelshrike, an old friend of Pactmarshal Trahearne, has joined the upper ranks of the Pact as a weaponsmith. After the defeat of Zhaitan, Steelshrike mentioned that the death of an Elder Dragon may spark renewed tengu interest into joining the other races in their fight against the dragons.

Battle for Lion’s Arch

During her preparations to assault Lion’s Arch, Scarlet Briar considered forging an alliance between the tengu and largos, but for one reason or another this did not come to pass. In 1327 AE, when Scarlet’s forces attacked Lion’s Arch, the tengu stationed at the Shuttered Gate retreated to within its boundaries. During the battle, any creature that attempted to approach the gate was met with a storm of arrows, regardless of allegiance.’

I think the above really shows that the Tengu and Maguuma are the next step in LS2. Whether it be a new playable race or not, we shall see. They did say this will be permanent content.

Inculpatus, I don’t feel threatened or anything and I’m not saying I want all that from Living Story, I was saying there is potential for Living Story to do more then what it is. That’s pretty much what it comes down too, sorry my posts were confusing, i’m just ranting really cause I hate to see one of my favorite franchises slowly drift across the water instead of make that ocean its biotch.
