Expansion Suggestions
Number 3 is happening regardless of the expansion. They have confirmed they are working on more fractals – who knows, we may even see one next episode. We seem to be in the middle of a fractals storyline, so plenty more will be coming.
Balancing should not wait for an expac, although with new elites likely, some balancing will need to happen. I suspect lessons have been learned from the previous round.
As for the new weapon of land spear, I would never rule it out. For starters we at least have a small supply of skins from the underwater version and there has always been those loading scenes since launch with that mysterious guy holding a spear or halberd. Considering they took staff and altered it for a new use, I think spears make sense for an adaptation.
I know the expansion is a long time away, however, it never hurts to make early suggestions.
The expansion has been in development for a long time, and you are probably six to twelve months past the latest date your suggestions could get rolled into it. Planning work and early tooling probably started before the HoT release.

Or to rephrase my esteemed colleague,
- It’s too late to make suggestions for Expac #2
- It’s probably too soon to make suggestions for Expac #3.
Nah, never too soon for the xpac following. Mostly just … it seems like suggestions for the next xpac are on an upswing right now, and I fear people are gonna be super disappointed because they are asking for core changes when it’s polish time.
xpac three, that’s likely already story-complete at this point, at a high level, I’d guess, and starting to flesh out the detail story, figure out what voicing will be needed, etc. That’s certainly the general way these things go — kind of like a series of overlapping stages, where the “get it out the door” and “very earliest design and build” work end up overlapping somewhat.
I really don’t understand why people are so obsessed with using spears

It puzzled me. Every time I poke at it, the answer is more or less “I want different weapon skills on land, please”, plus a bit of “look and feel”. Both of which are also landing with the elite specs, just … not with spears.
I’m sympathetic to the polearm desires, though, after hunting through all the staves to find one that look “hit with it” enough for my DD thief.

“I really don’t understand why people are so obsessed with [mounts] [SAB] [player housing] [fishing] [GW1] [bacon] [waffles] …”
People like what they like. There’s no accounting for taste.
(I just hope that more of us eventually realize that just because we like something doesn’t mean it’s a good fit for any particular game.)
Did i read spears?
both for wammo and guards spear+shield combo^^ but offcourse warrior will receive traps and dagger or another aoe skills bow… Beasthhunter :| oh and stealth+100b will be possible.

I mean yea, I’m not trying to bash the idea or anything, but its just something that I will never understand. I don’t personally believe it will bring anything new to the game, as at its core there isn’t a difference between bringing an entirely new weapon type to the game and just giving each class access to another weapon type. In the end, some classes end up with more weapon skills.
I like the idea of spears for land use because of the aesthetics of spear and shield, and the hope that work done on them for water use would make them easier to bring into play than an entirely new weapon type.
