Guild Wars 2

It just crossed my mind, when the new expansion is released, will it include the HoT contents upon purchase? or will it be like the HoT release wherein only the Core game is included, therefore you have to buy each expansion individually?

I vaguely remember that they said that every expansion would include the old one retroactively, like HoT contained Core, but I’m not 100% sure, so I’m guessing with Exp 2 you’ll get core and HoT.

Actually they did say that, I do believe it was during the HoT expansion announcement.

Most MMO’s are going that route actually. But the new expansion and get the rest with it. Makes it easier for new players coming in.

If nothing has changed since they said it in 2015:

• Every expansion will always include the core game and past expansions.
• Veterans will always need to purchase the expansion (since that’s “future content” relative to what has been paid for).

I really would dislike if a new player would pay the same amount as current players for a new expansion.. who already payed a lot for the previous versions. They should reward their community for still being there.

So if they would sell the new expansion, make it 10-20 euro cheaper then a complete total package (with Core, Hot and exp2)

That seems more than likely to cause people to just leave the game for a few expacs then come back and buy say 3 – 4 for the price of one.

It could make it so that they rely on whales to keep them going between each expac more and more but just one possibility at any rate.

Most MMO’s are going the same route. All expansions in with the new one and at only one price. Why the players in this game but not the others think it’s bad I have no idea. When they announce the expansion I already know that I and my wife will buy the ultimate version. We play GW2 and we will continue to play GW2. We even sometimes play GW1 just because. When they come out with each expansions I buy each one. The only time I won’t is if (and that’s a huge if) we find a different game to play. Nothing out has tempted us away from GW2. Too many things we like about GW2 to stop playing.

I prefer the batched version, and I do not find it unfair…

I played gw2 for 3 years, then bought an expansion and played it for 2 years, I have a very large main account and am pretty happy with how it’s going,

If the complete package is released again I hope to have many new players and many returning players either from the Vanilla or HoT era’s, whiich will be a boost to the overall population and allow this game to live and thrive for at least another set of years…

I also hope to see ppl who considered HoT a bad bargain at the time (,still in doubt why as it catered to my needs up till now,) returning to buy a “double expansion” for 1 price…. and I will have HoT legendary weapons and armor, masteries maxed out, HoT elite specialisations and collections done, allowing me to move ahead without any restrictions…

Next expansion is coming up, now, since we don’t get a new class this time, the obligatory character slot won’t be there, but veterans got a second free character slot, so maybe this time again, we get one free character slot as well, or something. I’m guessing there will be some veteran reward or pre-order bonus

Not that in all probability it makes any difference to me given the state of WvW that I am extremely unlikely to buy the next GW2 expansion, but the MMO I am currently playing (ESO) bundles the core game with their expansion for new players, but also gives an upgrade option at a lower price for existing players who have already paid for the core game.

Reward veterans like what? another Royal Guard Outfit? Nuh uh, they can keep their expansion all they wanted.

Technically you can get those right now, all for free ! Just have to play the game “a bit”.

As a veteran who does not own HoT™ still and will probably never will be as i recently converted in Structured player versus player, No way i could spend a bit of my time doing those boring stuff.

If you only sPvP then you don’t really need a legendary weapon either. Nor mastery points. Well perhaps the weapon skin could be of some use.

It seems pointless for Anet to offer the content just for you to ignore it anyway as it’s boring to play.

You should be asking for a Specialization-only PvP package or something instead, that would actually make some sense.

Though, I doubt the new expansion will be called ‘Crystal Dessert Online’, it might be called ‘Guild Wars 2: Crystal Desert’. Maybe that’s what he/she will be giving some ‘real coin’ to. /shrug

Most? Actually I thought GW2 is the only mmorpg doing that. In other games you need to buy everything separately – they can maybe include base game or sold a few dlcs in a discounted bundle.
