I looked on the wiki and the formula is some kind of uninterpretable “thing”. What I got from it is at level 80, each stack of bleed does 42.5 damage per tick and each point of condition damage increases it by 0.005, is this right? if not can somebody explain it in laymans terms please:)

Uninterpretable Thing? Do you not know basic mathematics?

(0.05 * Condition Damage) + (0.5 * Level) + 2.5 per stack per second
(0.05 * Condition Damage) + 42.5 per stack per second at level 80

Just plug in your Condition Damage and there you have it.

You did absolutely nothing to help me there, you just quoted the wiki page which I’ve already seen. What are the * for? do they take the form of a mathematic symbol? I’m quite new to MMO’s so I need some constructive help here, not slandering me off synically, asking me if I know basic mathematics. What do you mean by “plug in my condition damage”?

Ok then, simply put, " * " is a multiplication mark (in some countries, like mine, we use " x " for that), and the words “condition damage” means the amount of condition damage stat you have.

Is it clear now?

For example, my ranger has 100 condition damage. This means his bleeds do:

(0.05*100) + 42.5
5 + 42.5
47.5
47
Each stack of bleeding causes 47 damage per tick.
———————————————————————————————————————
My necro on the other hand has 1519 condition damage and gets another 250 with full stacks of corruption. This means his bleeds do:

(0.05*1769) + 42.5
88.45 + 42.5
130.95
130
Each stack of bleeding causes 130 damage per tick.
———————————————————————————————————————
Each stack of might adds 35 to your condition damage stat ( at level 80), so lets assume I have an Elementalist in the party and he’s throwing out 25 Might stacks like bacon at BBQ:

(((0.05*(1769+(35*25))) + 42.5
((0.05*(1769+875)) + 42.5
(0.05*2644) + 42.5
132.2 + 42.5
174.7
174
Each stack of bleeding causes 174 damage per tick.

Using the quote from the wiki, with my 736 cond dmg, make sure im doing this right for sure:P so…

0.05×736=36.8 + 42.5 = 79.3

So 79.3 is the amount of damage done at 1 stack of bleeds is 79.3 per tick? That seems a little lack luster for a level 80:P Is this correct? Sorry but I really want to get this right so I can fine tune my build.

Yes, it’s correct, it looks lackluster, because the bleed can tick up to 25x per second, which makes the possibility of 1982.5 dmg/sec.
But that’s theorethical, I doubt you can hold 25 bleed stacks at the target, except the solo PvE scenario, where this is possible.

And even then, the dmg is lackluster compared to direct damage capabilities.

Also a condition remover removes the whole stack. Also the most important information about conditions:

New conditions override old ones, they don’t care if the older lasts longer or deals more damage.

Theory: If you cause 25 Stacks bleeding with 2k condition damage for 10 sec, and right after you another one uses a 5 stack bleed with 0 condition damage for 5 sec, the enemy has 25 stacks bleeding, ticking 20 for you and 5 for the other guy. After 5 sec there are just 20 stacks ticking for you.

Thank you all for explaining. I kind of understood, but this thread makes so much more sense to me.

A question:
Does the condition dmg tick the same for everyone’s bleeds no matter who “causes” them? It’s something I have been curious about, but haven’t really been clear.

To clarify your damage: this is per stack. I’m sure you can easily stack 10 bleeds on a target with almost no effort, giving you a sustained 793 damage per tick on top of whatever else you’re doing to that target.

Also, 736 is not a very high number for a condition build. If you’re striving for 100% conditions you’ll want to get that higher and/or supplement with might stacks. If you’re running a hybrid of power & condition damage, then I’d say that’s quite good actually.

The formula above indicates what each stack of bleeding will tick based on the caster’s condition damage stat. This damage is unaffected by armor so it will tick for the same amount no matter who it’s cast on. All professions are the same in this regard; a ranger and an ele with the exact same condition damage stat will have identical damage dealt per bleed stack.

Yes I’m running power and condition damage, with a little vitality and toughness thrown in there for survivability:) I got about 1200 Power. Playing as a necro

Because of the bleed cap the question is largely moot, though I suppose there is a single-player theoretical discussion to be had. If you have more than one condition build in a group, you will likely be doing only white damage, as will any other condition builds. In terms of group play it is impossible to calculate the actual damage you are doing.

That’s understandable, but it didn’t really answe the question I was asking. That said, I may have asked incorrectly…

What I meant to ask was that if a warrior and a thief casued bleeding on a mob, does my necro’s condi dmg affect it the same way as if my necro had applied the stacks of bleeding, or do the bleeds tick the same regardless of whether I applied them or someone else?

Each stack of bleed tick with the caster condition damage, in your scenario, only the bleeding caused by you will be affected, the warrior and thief bleeding will be calculated apart.
BTW, if you get any boon during the fight, like might for example, the bleeding you already caused will get buffed too.

What I meant to ask was that if a warrior and a thief casued bleeding on a mob, does my necro’s condi dmg affect it the same way as if my necro had applied the stacks of bleeding, or do the bleeds tick the same regardless of whether I applied them or someone else?

Everyone has their conditions calculated separately. If you apply 10 bleeds they will all tick using your condition damage as the number. If a thief then applies another 10 bleeds they will tick for his condition amount while your still tick for your condition amount.

It gets more complicated after 25 because that is the cap. After you hit 25, any new bleeds will not register. So if the thief (with 0 condition damage) applies 10 stacks of bleed to the target, then you (with 700 condition damage) applied 25 stacks of bleed to the target (after the thief) then end result will be 15 stacks of bleed ticking with 700 condition damage and 10 stacks of bleed ticking with 0 condition damage. Most of your damage will simply be ignored.

This is why people don’t usually use condition builds because their damage is literally overwritten and since many power builds apply conditions even though they don’t have condition damage they will still override your conditions and make you do almost 0 damage to the target.

Well, there is a condition damage priority for the highest ones when there are multiple sources but most of the time the majority of your stacks will be ignored.
