Exploiting dailies
Bought custom arenas may be an exception to the rule.
Considering how very simple and easy dailies are.. Very sad..

A lot of people do it for the reward tracks too.
People doing this in Random Arenas- this certainly is a problem. It means that players who actually want to play PvP end up losing out because of a couple are selfish enough to do such a thing.
However, personally, I have no problems with people doing this in Custom Arenas designed for the tasks. Rank Farming/Win Farming, Kill Farming and Objective Farming have been around for a very long time. This is no different and isn’t really hurting anybody.
Not that I condone or participate in those, I prefer waiting on ques to pop, get more rank point that way, but simple solution to this, don’t go in those servers if you want acutal pvp
It’s discussed in the wiki with no mention that it’s against the rules.

I very much doubt that rank/daily farmers go into regular PvP areas. They stay in their own custom arenas, get the daily and leave.
ANet may give it to you.
Oh. So, could ArenaNet please start taking action to make PvP a better place for players who actually want to PvP?
Yeah, taking action against custom arenas designated specifically in the name as being a place for people who don’t want to PvP seems like a great way to make actual PvP matches a better place for players who want to PvP.
Because shoving people who hate PvP and don’t want to be doing it in with people who actually want to PvP, that’s bound to make things better.
Or maybe having those specifically designated custom arenas is putting people who don’t want to PvP in their own arenas so that people who actually want to PvP … I dunno, can.

Because we can’t be angry about both?
Found a red post commenting on it. PvP “Farm Servers”
Rewards are time-based now. These players must be in their match for the same amount of time as any other server. We cannot necessarily stop people from ‘playing’ oddly for their fixed amount of rewards unless it’s an actual exploit.
I read it as, they aren’t really happy about it but it’s not a bannable offense.
ANet may give it to you.
I confess I use the farm servers – mostly because I am lazy and not very found of true pvp.
These farming servers have been in game almost since launch of Gw2 and Anet has done some changes to the game that made the farm servers less profitable. I am sure they could have hit farm servers harder had they wanted.
That said, going into true pvp fights does pump up the adrenaline and even a bad pvp’er as my self does get a few kills and, when ranking works, usually fight against other bad pvp’ers – so getting those daily wins isn’t extremely hard, just takes some more concentration – but with much higher rank rewards / track rewards than the farm servers…
Now, what really makes me confused are those people repeatedly targetting farm servers and picking fights in there. I know of several players just going in there with the aim to make a mess. I mean – if you want true pvp why go to the farm server were people will, at best, have a farm-pvp-build?
Btw, pvp-farming isn’t really a new concept… Remember Red-Resign days in original gw? :-)
It’s harmless and has a daily cap so people can do whatever they want in custom matches. Hotjoin is barely different and considered practice so whatever they’re doing still counts as practice. If you want to do a serious match join ranked/unranked.
Well, which do you prefer?
A) People grinding wins in private servers that you don’t have to go into, 500 points per win, capped at two tiers for reward tracks. This can be “fixed” by banning such maps.
B) People leeching wins/losses in unranked/ranked matches that you have no control over, 500 points per loss, 1500 per win, no cap on reward tracks. This can never be fixed because it’s impossible to differentiate between people playing badly to throw games and people playing badly simply because they’re bad.
Right now those rank/reward track servers you’re complaining about are reducing the number of people doing B. As unhappy as you are about the situation, it’s actually making your PvP experience better overall by funneling some of the people who don’t want to participate away from your regular games.
If you get rid of A, expect to see more people leeching in your games.
I have a question. Are dailies working as intended?
To get the 10 daily achievement points, players have to complete 3 objectives, which can be in PvE, PvP or WvW. Apparently, PvP is by far the easiest, and the fastest.
Why? Because players exploit the hell out of this game.
Players join Practice Mode, and when their team is losing, they go in spectate mode to trigger auto-balance, then join the winning team as soon as someone gets switched. This way, they’re guaranteed to have their winning daily, and now that they’re in the outnumbering team, they get all the free kills, free rewards, and boom, daily done.
But it gets better. “Daily servers” are getting more and more popular. Players go there to literally let each other get the daily objectives. There is no absolutely no PvP involved. They just let themselves get killed three times, then kill the other AFK player three times. They let one team win, then let the other team win the next match.
Of course it’s working as intended. GW2 is promoted as a “play the way you want” game. If a person’s idea of fun PvP is to enter an empty map with a friend and get all their dailies done and no one joins them, then that’s their prerogative. No harm. No foul.
This is much, much better than having people get their dailies in actual PvP games.
I’m not a very big WvW player (though, there was a time a few years back where I did get into it a little bit, but was never very good at it), but I’ll do those sometimes instead of PvE ones because they are either fract-holes (which I like much less than WvW), or even some of the “4 events” ones are kinda a pain, and take longer than some of the WvW ones. Pretty easy to kill 5 guards or a caravan or a sentinel.
But I had a really funny experience today. Again, 4 events in Brisban. Blech. If it were Wayfarer, no problem. I did the mining one, that left Brisban, and something else, maybe today was a fractal day? At any rate, caravan and sentinel were there – perfect!
Head into EB, there is an opposing sentinel position just up the way. Ran up, engage the sentinel. Just then, 3 opposing players come and kill me. Oh well, happens. Not a big deal, find another flag, try again. As I was dusting myself off…shhpling!…completed! I got credit for killing for securing the position which I didn’t secure. You don’t normally get it until you stand in the circle for a bit, but since, apparently, I contributed to the ‘other’ team now getting the flag (they weren’t the same faction as it either, it was green, they were blue, I am red), I got it.
So there’s that.
Found a dolly around a corner, killed it, left.
