Guild Wars 2

In the achievements panel, under General and then Explorer, there’s, for example Maguuma Explorer with the description “Explore all areas in Maguuma”. It’s clear enough, although I’m not certain what an area is. Is it the little piece of the map that becomes clear as I walk over it, giving me a little xp? The basic uncovering of the map as you go along, where before it’s just like painted over and after discovery there is detail?

If so, I’ve beem 2 areas short of completing that (and other) explorer achievement and set out to find the little patches of the map I haden’t uncovered yet. I found more than the ones it told me I was missing but the number hasn’t changed.

What’s going on here? What am I doing wrong?

For Kryta, I had missed the Chantry of Secrets. I went to ole’ faithful ( GW2Wiki ) to look at what areas are linked together.

The areas that count towards the achievement are specifically areas that when uncovered have a little bit of text on the map.

If you go to the wiki and look at any zone the map will be divided into sections, these are the sections you need to uncover.

Nope. I uncovered those named sections (some of the were in fact new to me) but the number remains unchanged.

Jump puzzle areas and mini dungeons can be a bit difficult to find. You might want to look through those.

If you’ve got 100% in all of the specific areas, you’re probably missing some random cave. It sucks, but if you’re 100%, and the normally missed places are already explored, you might have to go back and do some cave-diving.

The problem is that I HAVE found some caves that were new (on this character at least). Both places with names on the map, and smaller places with no names. And the completion number on the achievement remains unchanged.

Keep in mind its tracked across your whole account, not a single character, so if you ‘discover’ and area one of your alts already walked into, it doesn’t increment.

A LOT of the easy to miss regions are jump puzzles.

Nike, that would explain why some new areas on this character didn’t count. I went on to follow a list of jumping puzzles in the Maguuma region that I was sure I never found and one of them raised the counter. I guess this is the way to go.

Good luck. I’m an avid explorer since about a month after launch and I only finished the Magumma and Shiverpeaks explorer achievements about 2 weeks ago. 2 nooks with nothing in them and about 5 jump puzzles were the missing ingredients .

To track down those pesky last ones:

Go to the wiki page on the overall region, e.g. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Kryta

Open the pages on all of the explorable zones within that region, e.g. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Queensdale and http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Kessex_Hills

The list of Locations is what you need to visit. They show as names on your map. I recommend paying particular attention to the locations that do not contain any hearts, vistas, waypoints etc., since you could have missed one of these and still had 100% map completion on that zone.
