Exploring the Sky
I’d much rather them open up new lands. Once they run out of land to open, then they can go to the sky.
Ever play The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker?
You sail on an ocean for a lot of that game, and it shows the problem that you’d run into with the sky idea. The ocean was big and vast, with only a few interesting spots scattered around. You’d spend a lot of time just sailing to get from Interesting Point A to Interesting Point B, with nothing to do in between.
It got old, fast.
Now, I have no objections to them opening up sky “realms”, places that float high above the landscape of the world. But opening up the entire sky is overkill.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
it would be brilliant. Of course, before implementing flight, there should be “content” in the sky (continents, regions, stuff to do ecc).
@Nat
I’m sure they’ll open new lands at some point, this an idea for a game play I think would be awesome. And rather amazing for a game that takes so much pride in its beauty!
@Palador
I’ve never played that game, but you do have a point. Maybe if first they opened up only som selected areas to see how it goes?
@Grevender
I agree, there would need to be stuff to do. However this game is already heavy on flying stuff (airships, airpirates and what even look like an air drill), so i think this would be a rather nice next step.
Before ANet implements any sky combat, I suggest Anet should first massively improve first the whole Underwater Combat, give it a real good Rebalance and add seperate Underwater Traits so that we have with out characters our complete own different Land as like Water Traits seperatively working.
Once NAet has improved the underwater Gameplay, they should go also for thex Sky.. but Sky content should be instanced. it doesn’t work for persistent, because perssitent gamepaly for the sky would require to completely redesign the whole game and change the whole game into a seamless pessitent game world and not one, that is full of instanced zones that just give you in these zones the illusion of playing in a persistent world, where every map world you find will be blocked off by unpasable mountains, unpassable lake,s unpassable just invisible walls ect. pp
Just look onto the world map! Does it really look to you like a realistical worl map, that is full of ring like mountain areas everywhere???
SO the only way how I see sky content in GW2 to work is by instances like playing Drakengard/Panzer Dragoon Games where you fly around on your flying mount/airship and battle off against various creatures and enemies in the sky.
I’d love to see such kind of gameplay in GW2 as a kind of new Minigame. It would fit this way very good into the game, if its handled as a new Minigame.
So…you mean Flyff?
