F.A.O DEVS can we get what we paid for
F.A.O? Food and Agriculture Organisation?
Also you could preview them in the store, so you could very much see what you were buying and thus reasonably got what you paid for.
It’s possible to also preview the item from the bank wardrobe. You can preview from the empty slots. Another possibility, look for someone in game who is wearing it and look it over before buying.
ANet may give it to you.
I think the reason why these wings are not a true “pitch black” (i.e. abyss instead of shadow abyss) is because a lot of the detailing would be lost if they were any darker. If they were darker, players could complain about poor quality texture and how simple/flat they’d look.
Moreover, colour is represented differently on different screens. Screen settings (contrast, brightness etc) have a big role to play in this, as well as the ambient lighting that you have around your screen.
I’ve also found that the wings look slightly different (perhaps darker) with in-game shaders on their highest setting. It seems to really help pick out the darkest depths of the finer detail, which to me gives the wings an overall darker appearance. It’s not a huge difference though (there are other things that change more dramatically according to shader settings, Wintersbark/Wintersbite is an example that springs to mind!).
You payed for the wings you saw previewed in the gemstore. If you didn’t preview then you payed for your own stupidity.
I don’t want pitch black wings thx.
The problem is, if they fix it for you, they break it for others. Do you really want the color of the wings to go back and forth between where it is and where you want it?
You have seen all of the uproars that happen when ANet alters gem store items after they’ve been released, right?
I have to agree with these folks OP.
If you don’t like them, try contacting CS for a refund. Be honest and polite- explain to them you felt mislead by the advertising image.
If they changed it, it’s quite possible other people will feel cheated as they were mislead- they bought something that then later changed (to something they dislike). A-net would have to issue refunds to many more people than just you in this scenario. People were annoyed enough when they changed the “bugged” wing animation, to the less stiff (floppier) version it currently is.
