One of the things that has stuck me recently and wondering why ANet sold themselves short was in regards to the scale of some areas.
Historically, if I saw an area that looked impressive I’d make for a vista or try angle myself on top of a high structure so that I could get a nicer vantage point. I suppose some of this hasn’t really changed however, I get this sense of ‘scale’ as I wander environments now doing my daily activities.
As an example, previously as I went on my adventures I’d typically only be aware of my more immediate areas. Perhaps the grass in front on me, the house in the distance with trees to the side encompassed by ‘slopes’ heading up.
Now I see these ‘slopes’ as mountainous areas that lead up to higher areas. It’s a more awe inspired feel. That feeling of seeing some nice scenery without having to traverse to certain places to appreciate it, but just by doing your normal activities.
As a result in general play I’ve come to appreciate the areas that ANet let us travel around in more and find areas more beautiful in general.
Suppose I’m just wondered why they hesitated for so long to implement the new feature.
A warrior, a guardian, and an elementalist walk into an open field…
The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”
