Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
Frost gorge train ruined
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
No, your comment is LOL on so many levels:) I think you should at least read this post. Come back here when T6 mats for your ascended/precursor/legendary crafting double in price.
Most people already quit FGS train, which probably contribute to price spiking of T5,T6, and precursor. So having a few more train farmer quitting probably wont’ change much.
Beside they nerfing the coin you get from champ bag too.
I will be honest, the change in champ train doesn’t really bother me. I would only use it as a last resort if I had absolutely nothing to do, and honestly it bored me. Am I happy that it is “nerfed”? No, not necessarily. Am I mad? No, not really. You guys can still do all of the same bosses, and multi-map like others said. It may also peak your interest into exploring other avenues that you may end up enjoying more or gaining more profit.
I am not trying to say that this is a good or bad thing, I’m just trying to say that you shouldn’t give up/blow up on Anet just yet. It’s only the second day. Give the multi-map train, dungeons, FotM, Orr, or even WvW & PvP a chance.
Personally, I’m kinda sad… Crossing paths with one of the trains is one of things I enjoy most in my play time. Seeing them teleport off to waypoints I haven’t unlocked yet is one of the things that motivates me to keep leveling and unlocking new map areas. :-(
Here’s a great example: I play this game with my GF. Typically we do the daily, she logs off, I PvP or WvW or dungeon or something. Anyway— with this new patch, the dailies changed. Daily Gatherer and Activity Participation are no longer static. She literally quit mid-daily yesterday because it was different and she said she didn’t like how they changed her routine. In the end, instead of Gatherer and Participation, she would have had to do Daily Skill Points and Daily Events. I played the world’s smallest violin for her last night, and I’ll play it for you guys today.
You guys just need to get into a new routine. This game has so many things you can do. Get out of your comfort zones.
It’s awesome that your GF threw a fit at not having the Daily Gatherer any more. Priceless.
You’re right, we need to adapt.
She likes her routine I guess lol. I’m in the process of breaking her from such outbursts in the future. By fit it was really just her saying she didn’t feel like playing anymore because it was different than what she was used to. Which is how a lot of people seem to be reacting on the forums.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I don’t understand how this is much of a “nerf” at all. Yes they reduced the amount of money in champ bags. But they turned them into events, which do give money, and karma and EXP. They changed the lower level “champs” into elite or vetern accordingly. The way I see it for FG champ train, they will still be champs, and with larger trains, will be harder to take out. So I little bit of extra time, plus the addition of Karma, Daily/monthy event completion, more EXP, and (I am estimating the same amount of money as pre patch with the addition of the event). This doesn’t seem like much of a “nerf” as a balance…
Maybe its just me though

It’s hardly good to remove a source of income when prices keep rising making it ever more difficult to make higher level items (ascended/legendaries).
Prices keep rising because of the champ farms. People would get high amounts of money relatively fast. The market only answered
absolute bull kitten. The most money is farmed in dungeons and that was left untouched.
Ouch so much hatred. I hope your mothers never find out how much you despise the other children playing in the sandpit, they’d be ashamed.
In other news, the train cannot be stopped. Nobody quite knows the new form it will take yet but the train always endures and your spite is pointless.
The Champ Trains were a exploiting a flaw in the game, period. A.Net could ban people because it is against the EULA to knowingly exploit a flaw and not report it. Rather than do the that, they closed that flaw.
No loss at all!
Please let me know what this exploit was and what in champ farming was/is against EULA, TOO LUDICROUS.
He’s talking out of his you know what. There was no exploit. It just wasn’t what Anet intended for champions, as in, they didn’t want them to be mindlessly farmed. That’s my opinion at least.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
WHY ANET? My only source of income is gone. Life is not worth living anymore. But seriously, this was not even clear in the patch notes. This patch went ahead without the approval of the community. I’m sure this is devastating to everyone! How can anet change something so drastic and not ask the community how they would feel about the train being removed. This change is so drastic, it needs democracy and opinions of others.
We want the train back.
I’m going to assume the OP was meant as a joke.
If not, then I’m sad for you. You have a huge, beautifully crafted game to explore which got a little bigger last night, and all you’re worried about is farming gold in one zone? Open your eyes.
Anet doesn’t need anybody’s approval for anything, it’s their product.
About this.
Champ train was an activity that could be done in 20min, 30min, or an 1 hour with no hassle depending on the user, which was what was so great about it. When speaking of champ farmers, many people come with the opinion of, “If person A is a champ farmer, Person A does nothing but champ farm.” Just because someone was a champ farmer does not mean they didn’t have other in game activities. So to tell people “Oh, now you can do other stuff” does not always make sense.
Guild Wars 2 has a wide variety of players, and among these players there is also a group that doesn’t particularly care about bone crushing difficulty, their main in game interest may be just to collect skins to have their character all shiny looking, while running around killing stuff.
Of course, some may go to greater lengths to get the skins they want if they wanted a skin from arah or something, but most are perfectly fine doing simple activities in open world to work toward their goal.
Anet did not change the champ train because of “anti-champ whiners”. They did it because the saw their game turning into a bunch of people zerging a path over and over and over again. If I had created a game with a specific vision and saw people were just sticking to one specific spot running the same path over and over, I’d change it too.
Except that getting all your grandmaster traits if you have alts is exactly zerging the same paths over and over.
As for changing things to force customers into your vision: that’s how businesses fail.
Anet doesn’t want us doing Champ trains cuz they want us to spend real world money to buy gems to exchange for gold. They have to make their money somehow. And the champ train in Queensdale sucks at drops compared to Frostgorge so it’s not a big deal there. It’s an inconvenience to those that can’t use real world money for gold but whatever.
My biggest issue is taking out the champs I used to solo to test builds or just for something to do and changing them to vets. In areas where there is no possible train. How lame.

Mission accomplished ArenanNet. :-)
It’s true that champ farming is by a wide margin not the best way to make gold
For the haters of the champ trains, that raise their pitch forks thinking they ruin the economy, I give you this quote. It’s from the games own economist.
Then nothing of value was lost.
If it wasn’t of value, people wouldn’t be complaining. A champ train was far more than the silver generated from it. People still don’t understand that for some it was a fun, lighthearted, social aspect of the game.

I just thought is was a mindless zerg running around – who knew. I tried doing one and all I found it WAS mindless and nothing social at all.

So you did it once and found it mindless and not social, therefore it’s always mindless and not social for everyone else as well. Got it.

You say that like it is a bad thing :-). In seriousness, it is a bit of both. I like to run around with other people taking down things I couldn’t do solo, but I also want to be able to come ,or go, or screw up, and not have it really matter to anyone else. In a dungeon, or WvW, or PvP, I actually matter, and me screwing up hurts my group, so I tend not to participate in those aspects of the game, but I also prefer not to just sit and farm solo all day.
guys there is a way to farm champ! let’s try to make new route. let’s do like Kill all champ at frostgorge. teleport to Cursed Shore kill all champ there and than come back to Frostogorge!
1 run in Frostgorge = 7 min 1 run in Cursed Shore = 8 min = 15 min total. Group event Spawn time is 15 min. So WE Can do that. we will spend a bit more for waypoints, but we will get more silver as a reward for complete group event!
You could use two characters and avoid the extra WP cost.
Good to see ANet doing the right thing instead of the popular thing for once.
LOL, the popular thing is what keeps the populous logging in.
I don’t want the train back. There are better ways to get gold anyway.
The champ train was just a rush to get your tag in and get super bored.
For those of you who’re gloating keep this in mind, you too Anet. Ruining things in a MMO that players like to do (Pent/Shelt anyone?) is NOT the way to retain a solid playerbase. So for those of you who’re gloating, I have no doubt that you’ll be the same ones who’re sniveling because the game is dead. And I have no doubt that will happen to GW2 if Anet insists on continually ruining what players like to do.
Conclusion: The rules changed, play how you want within the new rule set. Just like you played how you wanted within the old rule set. It’s that simple.
Or, we can ask Anet to change the rules. Anti-champ train whiners did so succesfully, so obviously it works, we just need to shout louder, right?
(Info: i don’t even take part in the train. I just get annoyed that everytime there is an option to earn something in the game, people whine until it gets nerfed. And in that time TP barons get wealthier and wealthier).Anet did not change the champ train because of “anti-champ whiners”. They did it because the saw their game turning into a bunch of people zerging a path over and over and over again. If I had created a game with a specific vision and saw people were just sticking to one specific spot running the same path over and over, I’d change it too. Like me, they figured those people would find some other way to make money.
And they will. Most of these complaint threads right now are knee-jerk reactions to people suddenly having to do things different.

Wouldn’t a better way to encourage people to “get into a new routine” be to change the reward system and loot tables, and increase the quality of loot drops so people can make money or have a shot at decent items without resorting to dungeon runs, EotM, Champ trains or TP flipping?
I also play with my gf who likely won’t log in for awhile when she heard that the champ train was nerfed, the one that she liked to do every now and then to try and sell some items to get enough gold to buy a new dye to customize her characters with (or some new skins). She was also kittened that dyes no longer drop from loot.
Instead, she now tells me she sees a game that constantly makes it harder and harder to get gold or items a player may want and that the grind is boring and makes it less fun to play.
I’ve said it a million times in the past that farming doesn’t hurt an online community, players do. The reason there are inflation issues are because ANET makes it very difficult for players to get items they want and force them to head to the TP where lucky/wealthy individuals themselves are looking to make more and more money by getting as much gold as they can out of their new shinies. Half the economy is geared towards people earning money for a Legendary or Ascended gear. If both were soulbound/account bound on acquire and only gotten through crafting, only materials would be pricey and every player would at least have decent options to get them and thus it would look like there were no inflation issues, at least in my opinion.
The train is now international, it has only become stronger

I just thought is was a mindless zerg running around – who knew. I tried doing one and all I found it WAS mindless and nothing social at all.
I think that about sports fans. Mindless horde doing something stupid.
And yet…
Some people have a blast doing it. Being a sports fan is an EVENT to them. It’s a social gathering of people they suddenly have that one thing in common with. They don’t talk to all of them, they don’t even talk to most of them. But they’re there. Being part of a large crowd of people, doing something easy for silly fun. For some people… no, for LOTS of people, that’s an outstanding way to spend some time. Doing a champ train touched on a lot of those same points, being part of a big silly horde having fun. Cheering for a win, picking themselves up after a loss/derailment.
ANet says they want to make this game an E-Sport. They keep trying to make the teams and games work. And when they stumble upon the other part of it, the fans and fun, they don’t realize it.
We all know that sports fan that’s WAY too serious about his sport, whatever it may be. Don’t be that person in GW2. Relax, enjoy it if you can, and when you see someone dropping banners or a box of fun at Boar Hill, just remember that you’ve seen GW2’s tailgate party.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.

Exactly… being part of a large crowd of people doing something easy for silly fun, is… well, having silly fun being part of a big silly hoard. Yes, I could make more money and mats running dungeons I’m sure, but then I’d need to find 4 other people who are skilled enough to get it done or I can’t finish it because of them, and if I kitten it up then the other 4 people can’t finish it because of me , and it screws them up if I don’t stay to the finish… and who needs all that hassle and stress in their gameplay time?

Wait! I got this one..
1. get a real job
2. wait for wages to come in end of the month
3. pay your bills
4. with he remaining money, buy gems and revert those to gold (if the remaining money is not sufficient, repeat step 1 to 3)
Done!
XD
So let me get this straight, folks are applauding the fact that there isn’t a train anymore?
Hmm, champs go from worthless to players actually wanting to kill them back to “no one is going to be hunting these things”.
Champion mobs with long spawn timers just equates to another forgettable mob that no one wants to wait around for and kill. Make any of them vets/elites and they will never get killed.
This game really is all over the place. I am highly confused on what anet wants this game to be. I would like to know how Anet sees the player base playing their game. Because I see a mess here. Think I’m going to go play Marvel Heroes or Diablo or something. Maybe fire up WoW after being gone for 5yrs. Every other game seems to know who they are, even Guild Wars seemed to know what it was. This game is beginning to be one of those things I am ashamed to talk about.
There is a wide world of other events that can be done out there.
They nerfed those as well, remember?
Anet did not change the champ train because of “anti-champ whiners”. They did it because the saw their game turning into a bunch of people zerging a path over and over and over again.
Have you seen how the world bosses look now, after the timer changes? I haven’t seen zergs like that in ages.
And farmers will still zerg – they will just do so in a different place. Until, of course, the last farm gets nerfed (and then they will leave the game. and then we’ll need to go out and farm all the stuff on our own – but by that time everything will probably require multiple stacks of mats, or thousands of gold).
Get out of your comfort zones.
Why? Getting pushed out of my comfort zone is definitely not the reason why i play this game – and this is, by the way, true of most casuals (which is why they are casuals). And casuals, if you haven’t noticed, make up a significant majority of this game’s population. So, be careful what you wish for, because if you keep pushing people, they will just eventually leave.

Since me, my brother (New player) and his friends (New Players) got totally hated for killing the Bandit before the Train got there (We was going to take the vista and one of the friends accidently pulled the bandit). I am very happy to hear this.
