Fact vs. Fiction for New Players
Although I’ve found three broken skill point thingys and I only have about 25% of the map complete on my current character.
I could agree with most of what you have said, except this part:
Fact: This might have been partially true, but Anet doesn’t make you grind dungeons. And even now, they’re adding more tokens to dungeon runs to making getting gear easier. At level 80, there is much to do. I play for hours on the weekends and 2-3 during the weekdays since headstart, and I’m not even 80 yet!
You arent 80, but yet profess to know there is much to do at lvl 80.
Fact: There are no heart quests in the Orr zones.
Fact: DEs in the Orr zones are usually either bugged, or always completed which reduces the DEs down to “defend X base (Cursed Shore),” or join the zerg train until DRs kick in (Straits of Devastation / Malchor’s Leap)
Fact: Choices are rather limited at 80 from a progression stand point. You can grind DEs, run dungeons, Pvp, finish out explorer, attempt to grind crafting mats, back track to help friends, or just out right reroll. Other than that there really isnt much to do, and what is available to you doesnt have much longevity.
Oh good, I give this about an hour before it smells like a farm in here.
Much love Tradewind
I know, I know…opinions are great and all but threads like this and the opposite ones like “zomg no endgame” “dungeon grinds durr”…it’s like bringing Bacon to a Bar Mitzvah. It’s just going to rile people up.
This is also more of a PvP game with PvE tossed in. Good post OP!
One thing to add, forums rarely make up the majority. Most of the people playing do not even post, they are playing the game and having fun. This is mostly true for many game forums.
My main is only 56 right now. But I have only seen 2 bugged events and 1 bugged skill challenge. The skill challenge was fixed the next day as well.
What areas have you completed and on what server, because I’ve actually lagged by how many bots there are on the screen. Events get done because they happen near where bots farm and their AI just guides them over to the event. Every map I have been in thus far has had one broken skill point at least at some point. I may have been lucky and collected them before they broke, but chances are they broke soon after. You’re stating opinions, not facts.
Lol…. Just because you haven’t seen what others are talking about, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

“There’s nothing to do at 80, so here’s a list of things you can do at 80.”
Priceless.
Hey look, those things match 1 for 1 to the activities in other MMOs

In WoW (for example):
- Grind Heroics for JP/VP (for beginner/offset raid gear) (Explorer mode dungeons)
- 1 (current tier) Raid once a week. (Boss Events, obviously more than once a week.)
- Grind Dailies for Reputation. (DE karma farming)
- Grind BGs for PvP gear. (SPvP hot-join)
- Arenas for Srs Bsns Rating (Tourny PvP)
- Crafting (Crafting)
- Re-Roll (Re-roll)
- Explorer (Explorer)

It’s not the game, it’s the players.
Edit: Forgot WvW, oops.
WoW doesn’t have a analog to it. (yet)
I just wanted a AAA MMO with no sub made by ArenaNet. And it’s awesome.”

Fiction: OMG THERE ARE BOTS EVERYWHERE! THE GAME IS BEING OVERRUN! THEY MAKE UP MORE THAN HALF THE PLAYERBASE.
Fact: I’ve completed 72% of the entire map and have yet to see one.
In my 30 years, I have never experience such mind blowing reasoning as this.
Personally, I’ve never seen Mexico, so that must mean it doesn’t exist either!!
or… just maybe… it does exist and you haven’t yet seen it? Nahhhh!

Was it really necessary to post that three times?
And then, a Mike Lewis out of nowhere…
Seriously, these criticisms are valid, but before you go “Henny Penny, the sky is falling”, might I suggest you take a deep breath, relax, and then proceed to hold ANet to their word.

Main Character: Dathius Eventide | Say “hi” to the Tribulation Clouds for me. :)
Counterpose:
Fact: You probably wouldn’t notice a bot cause you spent to much time zerging with tunnel vision.
Fact: I see bots all the time. I report them all the time. I know what to look for that differentiates between a bot and an afk-auto-attacker.
Fact: I see characters with auto-attacked mashed down by an object on their keyboard and they are afk, in the middle of where a dynamic event occurs frequently.
Fact: I run across broken skill point challenges and at least 1 Dynamic Event bugged up on every map I enter up through the level 60 maps. Haven’t ventured beyond that just yet, get back to you on how bad >60 is later.
Fact: Many who complain or mention how the activity levels have dropped are pretty much discussing the pre-60 maps where it has indeed thinned out. Full servers do not indicate map coverage, they indicate population which is now more skewed to max levels since the game is over a month old.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
Your points are mostly valid but you really need to get to 80 before makign any statements about end game.
1-80 is mostly fun. 80 can be fun but by in large, it’s quite different from what you are describing. If we’re being honest to players who haven;t hit 80 yet, apart from finishing the one-time activities (like exploring), be prepared for a massive grind and time sink even if all you want to do is just make your toon look better.
If you’re perfectly happy to be wearing the same items with the same look as you been wearing since level 30+, you don’t have to engage in the grind though.
This thread is bad and you should feel bad.
I can honestly say I’ve never seen a player doing that teleporting around thing. I know there are skills that let you teleport but they have cd’s. If I hadn’t seen it on the video, I wouldn’t have believed it was possible.
My biggest issue are the broken skill challenges.
This is extremely annoying coz when u are trying to complete an area in time so that the 100% rewards are actually useful… and a skill point thingy is broken for days/weeks, u end up having to go back there when it is finally fixed and yr character is over leveled and the rewards remain lvl 14 for example in the starting areas.
