I started making GIFs for GW2 with funny things I have encountered in the game.

I am just wondering why fall damage still acts the way it does? I get the whole tumbling effect they were going for but with the way it works, stairs and tiny slopes can be the most terrifying things in Tyria. Anyone else think so?

Tripped, faceplanted, and broke your neck.

Working as intended.

Must be a clumsy group of heroes then if a small slope like that is a constant threat.

Yea I wonder too, it’s pretty baffling to think that obvious bugs that have been in since beta are still glaring issues and ignored. The fall damage one and the immobilize bug are the most annoying.

Particle effect slider would be ‘too confusing’

I always thought that tripping should cause cripple instead of death but that’s just me I guess.

We’re immortal. I can fall from the top of Mt. Maelstrom, smack into lava and be rubbed awake by random strangers or use the Asura waypoint network in my sleep. We’re never dead, just unconscious.
I can drop 100feet and barely take damage, but trip on a snowball and a cascading damage effect takes hold and I find myself requiring a masseuse to continue down the path.

Did ANet actually say this is cuz of tripping? lol

Nobody gets “downed”, they just develop sudden leg cramps.

. . . people here take things far more literally than I anticipated. Too used to the WoT forums, I guess. :P

This “bug”, if it is one, irks me to no end. I really don’t understand why this kind of stuff never gets fixed.

Broken as intended.

Fixed. LA is the worst place to be for tripping/falling, esp. down the steep stairs and the long steep boardwalk from the Vigil Centrehouse to Bloodcoast Ward Waypoint.

Don’t look for a fix on this – obviously Anet thinks it’s amusing.

That’s not a fall. It happens to me all the time at one particular spot in FGS. Not every time, of course, but enough, and not just to me, that everyone dodges down or jumps or skirts around the hill as much as possible. Anyone who’s done the champ train there knows what I’m talking about. You just die in 2 secs while running down a slight hill path.

It is actually something that triggers once you fall high enough to take damage. Once that first hit triggers, any slope you are on that is steep enough will continually damage you if you continue to move. It reacts as if you are still falling at the same speed as when you first made contact with the ground, and it will continue until you stop, or the time gap between each impact is too large to register.

It is like the game thinks that every step is you hitting the ground for the first time.
