So Im a little bit concerned about an experience I had last night. I was at the risen abomination event in Orr right after plinx. There was the usual zerg there. But there was one guy on the wall near the waypoint shooting from there. A couple of times he pulled aggro and as you know the abomination tries to go around to get him but then resets (invulnerable but doesn’t reset health) until he goes back to his area. It delays the process. Someone comments, “lets report this guy for botting and hopefully he will be banned”. A few people reply “I already have”. More come in saying “done” etc. If he was new to the area he probably didn’t even know he was slowing down the event and I had done this a couple of times when the event first started without knowing about the reset problem.

Thing is it is obvious he was not botting. He slowed down the progress of the event, sure. But he really hasn’t done anything wrong that would warrant a ban. Yet dozens of people have reported him for something so serious as “botting”. Then we get people in here complaining they have been banned for botting and wonder why.

Bans aren’t handled on a purely report-based system. Even if attention is called to him through a number of reports, his play activity should be analysed and bots play very differently than humans. He’s in no danger of being banned.

As for why people report him… People are simple and willing to go along with the group.

Wow, that is really messed up. Some people are just straight out dirtbags.

That being said, they review the player in question, and after seeing that he wasn’t botting, all would be right in the world again.

But still, that doesn’t change the fact about what the low-lifes were up to. What a shame.

I agree. Lots of people are selfish and arrogant. I doubt he’ll be banned, though. I’ve been reported repeatedly for being a bot and I haven’t got banned yet. If I do get banned, it doesn’t matter because this is just a game and there are lots of other entertainment options out there.
