Q:

I don’t wanna get all boo hoo wah about farming because I’m sure it’s been done to infinity and beyond. But what I do wanna mention is that farming can be so much fun. I’m at a point now that I still play the game more than most people but I find myself getting discouraged frequently.
If I run a few dungeons, kill a few dragons and play a bit in the forge, it would be so awesome to be able to farm a bit to make back some of the money I flushed in the forge. Plus you’d always have farming to go to when you’re just plain burnt out on everything else.
Maybe it’s just me but farming for two hours can be loads of fun if you actually have “a chance” at getting something nice to look at (or drops worth selling so you can purchase something nice to look at). Farming just never gets old to me when things drop. Even if I don’t need the items but they hold value. Maybe it’s the whole fruit for the labor thing I don’t know.. And maybe I’m just ranting because I know this post won’t make a difference whatsoever.

I love this game so much but I feel like I’m running out of gas here.. If there were only another way to fix the issues at hand that didn’t include back stabbing farming.

You can farm for two hours, just not in one place. Switch it up a bit. Farm for part of the time in say Orr and part of the time in Frost Gorge.

I play this game all day sometimes, and I’m killing stuff and getting drops all day. But because I’m moving around so much, DR doesn’t seem to kick in.

Your doing it right
I love farming too, I just wish there were more places to do it in an enjoyable way. And different rewards, not necessarily epic lodestones, just different. If you make an area where farming is super fun for people who spend 20 minutes there, those of us who farm for hours will have a blast ^^

I’m also with Vayne, I don’t stay too long so i don’t deal with DR. In fact I make more by not staying, as I end up catching other events anyway that bring just as much fun even at the slight cost of profit.

Just travel all over tyria. Killing stuff, helping people with champions and role playing as a kitten wandering knight/swordsman/pedo

I find it entertaining every once in a while, I’m kinda against the whole “farm at one spot idea” on gw2. It just doesnt feel right.

What would be awesome though is more random occurring contents that rewards world exploration.

But so far I am having tons of fun.

The Lost Dr. Seuss Book: I Love My Job

I love my job, I love the pay.
I love it more and more each day.
I love my boss; he/she is the best.
I love his boss and all the rest.

I love my office and its location.
I hate to have to go on vacation.
I love my furniture, drab and gray,
And the paper that piles up every day.

I love my chair in my padded cell.
There’s nothing else I love so well.
I love to work among my peers.
I love their leers and jeers and sneers.

I love my computer and its software;
I hug it often though it don’t care.
I love each program and every file,
I try to understand once in a while.

I’m happy to be here, I am, I am;
I’m the happiest slave of my Uncle Sam.
I love this work; I love these chores.
I love the meetings with deadly bores.

I love my job-I’ll say it again.
I even love these friendly men,
These men who’ve come to visit today
In lovely white coats to take me away.

Sorry, but your post about loving the grind reminded me of this poem.

Sorry, but your post about loving the grind reminded me of this poem.

Only a grind if you make it a grind. It isn’t a grind if you enjoy doing it, a grind is something you have to do to get something you have to get. ie work can be a grind, as you have to do it to get paid. And you have to get paid to live irl.

I also enjoy farming, but I have to move around when I do it, not farm one event chain like Penitent Path for hours, that would drive me crazy. I have been playing since launch and I will go farm aimlessly in Orr or Frostgorge when I’m not in the mood for a dungeon, but I’ve never gotten an exotic or a lodestone. Not once. At first it was like a playing a free lottery. Every mob I killed was like “Is this the one that’s gonna drop something exciting?” But it never happens, and I agree with the OP, despite the fact that I really want to keep farming in my play cycle, I’m running on fumes here.
