Farming Soft Wood
Softwood is the second type of wood in the game. It should be found in every single 15-25 zone. I seem to find it there. Fields of Ruin would seem a bit high for soft wood, if you ask me. Try Kessex hills and Briban Wildlands. Also, Diessa Plateau.
off the top of my head.
Snowden drifts, dissea plateau, kessex hills, brisban wildlands.
Also seen it in lorners pass.
Zones can have a mix of node tiers. Look around at the surrounding mobs or heart levels to get a better idea of whether you are in the right place. 15-25 is the optimal range but the intro areas of a slightly higher zone would also have it.
Insert fiber joke here.
Soft Wood is harvested from Gummo Saplings (Kryta and Ascalon), Mimosa Saplings (Maguuma) and Snow Cherry Saplings (Shiverpeaks). These are mostly found in level 15 – 20 zones, although in some cases you may still find T1 wood nodes in the early sections of these zones. (Snowden Drifts still has Aspen Saplings near the portal leading to Wayfarer Foothills, for example.)

OMG. Fields of Ruins is a 30-40 area it will have both soft and seasoned wood; nothing changed. Just harvest everything you come across and sell them to buy soft wood. Seasoned is the rarest (outside ancient) anyways so you should be happy.
Yeah, I was sleep deprived and fussy. Thank you for the good info.
OTOH, here’s the wiki page where I got some of my bad info:

That’s an unofficial guide site….nothing to do with the gw2 wiki at all.
