Is there a way to “farm” for dark matter? This is the main limiter in my ability to craft ascended item, but the only way can see to get it is to by cheap exotics (which I don’t like doing). I can’t get anywhere close to fitting out my characters with normal playing, even though I have plenty of (most of) the other mats.

You can buy the cheapest level 80 exotic armor and jewelry and go to town on them with a black lion salvage kit. I’d buy maybe two or three for three full sets of ascended and maybe have enough leftover for a weapon or two.

Fractals drops me quite alot. Around 1 exotic every 2-3 runs (sometimes almost every run) Other than that, buying exotics and salvaging would be fastest. If you’ve got the gold.

Run dungeons and buy the cheapest possible exotics with dungeon tokens. If you get the right ones you can get inscriptions to sell from salvaging them.

There are certain exotic armors and weapons that you can salvage for profit and in the process you will get a lot of dark matter too. Those exotics are profitable because they have a chance to also drop exotic insignias/inscriptions (the chance is around 40% if you use Mystic salvage kit…equivalent is probably Master’s salvage kit…not sure right now). You have to do some research on wiki for statcombinations of armor/weapons that also give you those insignias/inscriptions. To help you out you can buy any piece of Reyna’s armor and you should make some money on that (on avarage of course, sometimes you might get unlucky with runes, ectoes and so on).
