Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
Lately, I’ve had trouble finding fun farming spots. I’m kinda tired of CoF and running to specific events for the chest. I want something like how Cursed Shore use to be.
I was hoping that Southsun would be that, but it’s barren. Cursed Shore has few people in it after the plinx, shelters and penitent nerf, except with grenth is going.
I still have fun doing the type of events where you kill tons of mobs up to the boss, like the melandru escort. But most are just kill a boss, get a chest.
I know I’m being a bit picky, because the game has those cool world bosses to kill, but it’s not like how I pictured farming would be like. Soloing in lower level zones is slow for gold because t6 mats don’t drop anywhere but 70+ zones.
I use to farm fractals up to level 30 something, but after the WvW infusions came out, I don’t have the AR to do that again. Idk! if someone has any cool ideas for me, let me know.
You can technically do Fractals with little to no AR. I just finished a 38 with 25 AR (5 below par) and the only problem I had was when the Jade Maw auto-agony on me since it was a guarantee down (albeit slow).
However, I don’t see your complaint. If you want to farm, you’re going to end up grinding. That’s just how it works. If you want more methods, you can always try working with the TP, so that your gameplay won’t affect it and you can do whatever you want.
All I can get from this thread is a giant spooooonfeeeed meeeeeeee from the OP.

Not really. Since the early game a lot of changes have been made that led to open-world play taking a hit compared to certain types of farming. I wish you were right, but unfortunately, that type of gameplay doesn’t hold a candle when compared to things like endlessly running CoF or world-boss hoping, which ironically are more farming-like than trying to get certain mats to drop in specific areas.
Events in Cursed Shore are still one of the better ways to obtain loot without pre-made group events or similar, and there has been a lot of talk about improving Southsun/Orr’s loot to match the events. It might be a bit in a bit of a dry-spell right now, but give it a few weeks/months and I think that’s your best bet
They lied to us saying they loved legit farmers and then absolutely nothing to fix DR or to fix the problems with the loot system that gives 1 guy everything while giving another guy nothing doing the same events weekly. (a kind of Wi Flag situation). They still haven’t fixed either one, nor have they fixed the retro they still haven’t given people for their achievements they loaded into the game (I for one made thousands of salvages since the time they promised to revamp the system up till now, does the new achievement system show that? no) They still haven’t fixed that the mobs temporarily created for defend events actually ADD to your DR rating and cut you off from loot even from events!
It’s basic psychology. People like to feel rewarded when they do something and this game is so lacking in that regard it’s not funny anymore.

While the information I linked is about the original Guild Wars, it has already been confirmed that there is such a code, with similar conditions, implemented into Guild Wars 2. If nothing else it is illustrates that Arena Net’s stance against farming is nothing new.

They don’t have to release a statement to actually say they are against it. Merely by their actions due they hate open-world farming.
-The introduction of DR to handle bots. After the great bot ban wave of November, DR is still here.
-The nerf to Plinx
-The countless nerfs to shelt/pen through the introduction of gating Champions, loot-less spiders and the increase in event respawn timers threefold.
-The nerf to grub farm
-The nerf to malchor farm
