Q:
Fastest/Easiest Profession to level?
A:
Guardian is an all rounder. Even though he’s a guardian, don’t expect him to be noticeably tougher until he hits 60. Altruistic Healing, hint hint.
Warrior. In the PVE context where dps is concerned, I endlessly mutter to myself (in my mind), OP(overpowered). This class…. for the most part of his pre 80s, is able to pretty much hit above 80% crit rate. 90 very often. Due to the fixed bonuses which do not scale. There’ll be a trait where each unused signet gives you a bonus of +40 prec. (and perma fury uptime)
Things die very fast with this profession. Exceptionally fast I stress. Thus the easiest by a Hulk leap.
A mesmer’s sound effects would drive you into delirium. ie GS auto attacks.
Engineer is fun but…. Flame thrower frontal cone feels buggy and doesn’t always hit as intended. Grenade is one of the highest dpsing skills in the game. But it also leads to carpal tunnel as the grenade doesn’t have auto attack. (Other builds exist, but I haven’t fiddled with those)
Easiest to level? I only have 3 80s. Thief, ranger and warrior. Out of my 3 I would say warrior was without a doubt the easiest to level.
I’m not saying warriors are easy at 80 but the leveling content is basically so easy you can 100B through the entire game.

I have 4 lvl 80s and 1 level 50. To me the fastest to level was the warrior.
from 1-35 the first things that you want to unlock are signets and trait pts in the precision line and equip trait that gives u +40 precision for each unused signet, at one point u’ll have 100% critical chance eventually this will be less effective on higher levels. Signet of healing is pretty good and will fully heal you pretty fast on low levels.
35-80 – when u reach 35 and every 10 levels or so you’ll be able to buy strong gear, power/precision which will help out a lot to kill things fast and level fast. you want to get the elite signet and use it every 60 seconds along with whirling blade and Rush (turn auto target off) for faster movement across maps. Killing will be easier to complete the objective than any other options.
Eventually you’ll want to switch to healing on adrenaline, for great justice, shake it off, and another one I used frenzy to kill stuff fast but up to you. remember to keep upgrading equipment (blue power/prec equip is fine you don’t have to go fancy)
I used greatsword and rifle for when im in trouble and need to back up. first build up on traits which are power/precision and burst line, the end build I was getting at was 20/30/0/0/20 but others could work just as well or better, build on adrenaline and greatsword traits.
Ofc do story line until lvl 50(after 50 they start taking long to complete)

The easiest to level would have to be the Warrior.
This is because the Warrior has the highest base defense (high toughness and high vitality) of all the professions
- Meaning you can build glass-cannon with the lowest amount of risk.
Other professions have varying combinations of low/med/high toughness/vitality, making it easier for them to die where the warrior would not.
The Warrior also has the most simple play style, designed to be very easy to pick up, while having lots of room for skill-depth with all the weapon combinations.
However, this may make the Warrior a bit boring for some, since “straight-forward” can feel flat.
If the Warrior isn’t your thing, I’d recommend Thief or Guardian.
The Thief is very strong with lots of sneaky tricks while the Guardian is really durable with lots of supportive power. Depends on what you enjoy.
Lv80s: Guard, Thief, Necro. Renewed my Altaholic’s card on the HoT Hype-Train. Choo choo~

of my characters, this is my list in order of level friendliness
1. Warrior.
2. Guardian
3. Thief
4. Ranger
5. Mesmer.
Thief and ranger might be swapped. Mesmer was definetely not leveling friendly. they dont shine until 60-80 ish

Warrior.
Considering my Main is an elementalist (700+ hours on it) I found warrior easy to level.

So far I’ve leveled Warrior, Thief and Ele to 80.
Warrior, hands down. Go glass, and once you have Forceful Greatsword, all sub-80 PvE becomes a total joke.
Resident Thief

I wouldn’t say warrior is simple to play at 80. Sure we don’t have any ez mode stealth, clones or spammable AOE circles but that just means we’re harder to play. =P

Warrior, by a huge margin.

Warrior is HANDS DOWN the simplest class to play. Skills require little to no timing, high tough and vit means easy to just stand still and spam attack skills. A warrior comes down to “spam skills on recharge”.
I leveled my Mesmer to 80 in a week and a half, and they’re meant to be fairly slow, so I can only imagine how quickly you could get a Warrior to the cap.

Hehe I just started leveling a mesmer friday night and got done today. Though I played one in beta a lot im not too fond of it anymore so I’m just gonna shelf it for now.

Warrior, very closely followed by my ranger. Very close.
We are sworn together by our blood…
Warriors are the class for folks that just want to play and not think. That is not a bad thing, but admit you are putting very little effort into playing if you are running a warrior as a main.
They are just a filler class and offer zip , but if you want to watch something on the DvR with the wife while playing, they fit the bill.
If it’s speed your after choose any class and level up artificer and Jeweler.
I’m on my way to my 6th lv80 and IMO a Greatsword Guardian is by far the easiest and fastest profession to level. You can pull as many mobs as possible all the time and faceroll them without dying thanks to http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Justice_is_Blind and http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Renewed_Justice .
Thief with Shortbow is awesome, but you aren’t always able to pull a bunch of mobs and it’s easy to die if you don’t pay attention. Warrior is fast, too, and doesn’t die quickly.

How did you level to 80 in 2/3 days if I may ask=?
Thank you for the replies, folks. Think I’ll work on my guardian some more and see if I can fast track her. Might roll a sb thief too, just for spits and giggles.

30 levels of crafting, 50 thru normal play and dungeon speed running.
BTW OP you picked a biased answer, from all the replies we can conclude that Warrior is the easiest/fastest profession.

I have 8 at 80 and my latest, a guardian, was the fastest to 80. I completed it before the starter bank golem ran out of time. I think a lot of that had to do more with knowing the game and maps (and judicious crafting) than the profession itself. Profession-wise warriors tear through fights especially with the 5 signet/greatsword leveling build. But, bottom line, I don’t think profession is the major factor in getting to 80 quickly. That said, I wouldn’t pick, say, a necro in a race as it takes so long to kill anything.

lol necro d/d and staff for alt set (for events) rips thru content. I can give you a screenshot of my new 80 that did it in like 29 hours ..
That was with only three tradeskills to about 350ish (cooking was 400).. so basically 55 levels in that time..
They fly
I’d say warrior is the fastest, but ranger is the easiest with the least chance to ever die while leveling.
