Favorite Map and Why
I love Timberline Falls as it just feels like home to me
(edited by Kyrie Dark.3628)
Timberline Falls for me. I think that’s the most beautiful map in the game, bar none.
Frostgorge Sound. I love wandering through the Koden Cities. That and I used to spend alot of time there.
Malchior’s Leap and Cursed Shore. Tied really.
I love the sense of a blasted wasteland to explore. The idea of being a hero to pioneers seeking to reclaim this blighted region for civilization. The diea of wresting ancient treasures and mysteries of an almost forgotten age from the cyclopean ruins that are all that is left of a once proud, tragically too prideful, race.
Those zones capture the essence of this perfectly for me.
Awesome answers, everyone!
As with others, timberline falls is my favourite because I love the balance of mountains and water. The vistas are spectacular.
I’d have to say Queensdale. It has the most “home town” feel to it of all the maps and local chat is pretty clean and nice now that the train is gone. There are even a few RP’ers that you can converse/interact with for good fun there. Lots of inns and such to wander around in too.

Agreed, that’d be my second choice.
Peace.
I like most of the Human green area,I hate the deserts, the Harathi Hinterlands centaur area, the centaur camps, etc…
Also I like snow landscapes,so the Norn area is very relaxing to me.
I hate the Asura starting area,I think it feels like a swamp,it’s so dark and the hi tech stuff just don’t fit.
I KINDA like the Charr starting area because it’s Ascalon and all,but I kitten hate Black Citadel…It’s a freakin city made of IRON,sometimes I can actually feel the heat of it from my monitor lol
Timberline Falls for me; it reminds me so much of the NE Washington area I was stationed in years ago. Mountains, snow, water, dark green foliage. I’ve been craving to go back for school next year. Timberline will do for now.
Skyhammer obvs.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
Cursed Shore.
Level 80, no hearts, double frequency events. Pity it’s almost all undead, more variety would be good. But ultimately it’s the gameplay winner for now, and that’s what matters to me over cosmetics.
Dry Top also has a lot going for it, but we’ll see what it’s like 3 months after the LS finishes.
That would be Plains of Ashford.
I’ve been around since beta, when I was super psyched about this game and finally doing the Charr intro where you fight Barradin in the rain, then walking up to THIS MUSIC, then everyone working towards fixing up the ghost mess and with the living world events. The beta was indeed beautiful.
I swear, when the piano and violin start playing at 0:46 I still get goosebumps.
All of Ascalon. Being a Guild Wars 1 veteran, Ebon Hawke feels like home way more that Divinitys reach ever did. I like wandering through the land and seeing little things that remind me of Gukld Wars and bring back a lot of good memory’s.
Queens Dale is nice too. The ruins of ToA reminds me of all the fun I had there doing FoW/UW. I use to like to to see the ruins of Old Lion Arch, but it’s mostly gone now. My only hope is that when LA is rebuilt it will look more like it did in Guild Wars, I was probably one of the few people who where happy to see it burn.

Timberline Falls are beautiful. Dry Top is amazing, but then I just love deserts. Frostgorge is as cold as it gets – ice deserts are cool too :P. Edge of the Mists is mystical.
Yeah, those.
William S. Burroughs
Any Shiverpeaks. If I had to make a league ladder then Dredgehaunt and Wayfarer would be tied for first and Frostgorge last, but with only a few points separating all of them. I’m an absolute sucker for snow covered mountains.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
Straits of Devestation, Mt Maelstrom annnnnd.. It’s either Iron Marches or Blazeridge.
Straits of Devestation really contrasts well, and has an awesome name. Maelstrom is nice because of how expansive and flavoursome the region is, plus the volcano. And the other one (I don’t recall which I like more, but it’s one of those two) I simply like because of the overall design with the brand ripping stuff up there.
I don’t usually like to go with the majority, but Timberline Falls is hands down my favorite map. Second for me is Iron Marches.

Because we can’t be angry about both?
How about the least liked maps and why?
For me, Fireheart Rise. Not sure why, except maybe the difficulty of parts of it seem to be harder than other maps, but not in a good way. Mostly because of corridor type places with a hostile mob every two feet. And the brown, seared looking landscape. (Just what do the Charr do to wreck every land they own?)

EOTM, it’s a shame that it’s just some karma train map. However I still love it. It’s so unique, beautiful, and well made.
Heavens Rage
Favorite: Bloodtide coast. I grew up in a Florida beach town and really like the way it looks there.
Yarr! I be keeping me pirate runes, Matey. Yarr! You’re welcome. Yarr!
My least favorite map is Lornar’s Pass, followed closely by Plains of Ashford. Lornar’s Pass is just really tedious, to me.

Reminds me of vanquishing Lornar’s Pass in the past.
My favorite probably is Brisban.
