Hey guys, just out of curiosity i was wondering on peoples opinions on their favorite starting zone, Im in the process of making ANOTHER alt which i love to do because every profession tickles my fancy anyway i already have a asura, charr, and play a bit of norn, but i really like the charr . very wide open and vast . Anyway let me know your favorite

I liked the Sylvari starting zone.

I love the human starting zone. I always go there first and then the Charr.

Ok i might check out the sylvari, never been. But i did enjoy the charr.

favorite is Charr by far. then norns, asura, human and sylvari. its funny, before this game came out i thought i would have liked the sylvari the most because i enjoy lots of green nature-y stuff and charr the least because theyre more mechanical. but for whatever reason i cant stand caledon forest.

The Sylvari and Norn starting zones are my favorites.

Haha its great hearing everyones personal opinoins i love it, but it is making my decision quite difficult. i think i might stick with my norn :P

Either Queensdale or the Charr startin’ zones are me favorite. The Norn zone is pretty nifty, too, what with it’s shape shiftin’ heart missions.

I enjoyed the human and charr starting zones.

I’m a fan of Wayfarer Foothills the most, for leveling and visuals, particularly everything in the valley. I always seem to send my alts there to level.

I love Kryta and Ascalon zones for nostalgia and looks, as pre-searing ascalon (or post post-searing as it is now) and Kryta were some of my favorite places to be in GW1.

I will give Metrica Province its dues for mining though. It seems to be the place where I can gather the most copper the easiest.

Honestly all my characters are human, but I want to roll a Charr just because they seem so bad kitten I like the Norn area too though because I just love snow area’s. Sylvari zone is pretty chill as well. Asura I don’t care to much about honestly.

I love Metrica Province the most.

But to be honest, that’s only because of the Skritt IQ Test and the Asura Rabbit Researcher. Apart from those, I’d have to go with the Norn area as well. Snow ftw!

Favorite is Wayfarer Foothills because I love snowy and mountainous areas, and norn. After that Metrica Province, Caledon Forest, Plains of Ashford. Haven’t played Queensdale much.

Aesthetically:
I love norn and I love the look of a snowy mountainous area (but I never want to live in one again). I thus definitely prefer Wayfarer’s Foothills to anywhere else. Second would be Caledon Forest, then Metrica Province (would be higher without those obnoxious asura “infesting” the place).

Queensdale is fine, but seems a bit more plain, and far too close in look and feel to the other “human” areas. Plains of Ashford is too industrialized and polluted for my tastes.

Gameplay:
Wayfarer’s Foothills has a huge number of events, not as many chains but still it’s hard to go for very long without running into an event. The other starting areas feel a bit more “thin”.

The 15-25 zones are in a slightly different order. Snowden Drifts, Brisban Wildlands, Diessa Plateau, then Kessex Hills. Kessex and the rest of the Kryta lands all end up being mostly rehashes of Queensdale, without as much variation in environments, monsters, or events as the other areas.

For the mid levels, I prefer the far east Ascalon zones. Fields of Ruin, Blazeridge Steppes, Iron Marches. While they all have the constant threat and danger of the Dragonbrand, there is enough variety in the surrounding lands to keep them interesting.
