Feature Pack - Existing Players?
Resident Thief
Feature Packs aren’t supposed to add content, just features. The last one wouldn’t be bringing any players back either.
You already bought the box, you don’t matter. They need to sell more boxes.
Surely they get much more from gem sales by now.
Not retroactively rewarding players for playing their game is a big mistake. I have leveled 13 characters to 80, mapped 100% 5 times, and beaten Zhaitan 8 times.
Now that the game has an update to what was crappy rewards, I am left out of the loop. How is this ok? Why can’t the game see what story steps I’ve finished and reward my characters for doing so? After 13 characters I don’t see any reason to make more…
Sep Feature Patch = New Players > Old Players
What I’m most interested in at this point are the particulars about the balance/gameplay tweaks for each profession. Those moreso than the announced leveling changes will determine which mothballed alts I decide to finally finish leveling, or play more regularly.
Well it seems, that they have put the changes, they have made for the new players in china, back in the EU/NA Client to have a similar code base. It is not a bad thing by itself that the clients/game have the same functions. I am just wondering how much new players there are with the NA/EU client, that would benefit from this changes.
So, being not a new player, I am really not excited about these new “features”.
Greetings.
I dont care it its called a feature pack, living story update or random patch 9852XYZ, the things I care about seeing at some point in the near future are:
- guild missions
- dungeons
- new traits and utlity skills
I know dungeons are not features, but they have clearly indicated the other two are. My biggest worry, now that weve seen the meat of the pve changes, is that we wont see any new traits, utility skills or even guild missions for at least another 4 months after this update (if not longer).
I still very much enjoy the game and have faith in the developers to make a compelling and fun game, but there are some things they really need to be working on, imo – and the pace of this update makes we worry that those things are still a long way away.
This is really disappointing. While I can appreciate porting over changes that have been made for the Chinese release, this feels like the same thing we have been complaining about for the past few months.
ArenaNet has been working on features we don’t want and haven’t asked for to break into a new market, all the while telling us they are too busy to work on the changes we have requested.
And the likely response will be “just wait for the CDI”
Another disappointing feature that does nothing to answer the questions of why there is no endgame.
Feature patch = New players we love you
Living World = 1 play through and then never go back
Yet the actual content and features that people want to play gets ignored as always. I really hope they have something huge planned for next week …
Does anyone know what else does China have ? Seems like whatever they put in China they will bring in europe and america.
Does China have precursor crafting ? Or anything cool ?
existing players?…..judging by the feature pack, are not a priority right now.
MARA (EU) Gunnar’s Hold
I would have no problem with that if we did get new permanent endgame content like a new WvW map instead of 3 just tag colors and a trick.
I’m trying to understand why the focus on content for new players when the forum has been filled for the last year with threads of dedicated players asking for new endgame content.
existing players? whats that
Honestly, I wouldn’t mind the focus on new players instead of existing players except for the fact that the PR surrounding this pack should have been more clear. I play mostly PvE. So far I’ve seen not one exciting thing in the feature pack for PvE players, despite the fact that the release is promoted as “exciting additions!”
Feature packs aren’t content packs, but really nice quality of life changes really can invigorate players who have been around for awhile (e.g. the wardrobe system for unlocking skins).
One more thing. It would have been really nice to have some kind okittennowledgement that today is the second anniversary of launch. I’m not saying give us free stuff or a massive Queen’s Jubilee-like event, but you know, something would have been nice.
This forum is a wretched hive of scum and villainy. ~DevilLordLaser

Considering that you would be rewarded with items that are worthless for a lvl 80 and probably would have a sum worth of something less than 5 gold…yeah it’s not worth it to retroactively reward players.
In my opinion, this feature pack should be renamed to “Recycling and maintance update” since most of them are coming from China. There goes “we give you free update every 2 week”
I’m playing GW2 from headstart and was very committed to the game (missed playing only when I couldn’t get online, daily cap achieved and so on) and to the company (turned blind eye on many problems GW2 had/still has, recommended this game to many friends, even though most of them don’t even play anymore), but today’s post was a real wake up call to me. I’m not going to log in each and every day now. I’m not going to recommend it to anyone else. I’m still going to log in when some actual meaningful update will be released, but I’m afraid this negligence of veteran players will make my love to this game fade away.
But hey, at least ANet stopped their silent treatment and that’s most likely the only positive thing since LS break.
Blog post confuses me…
It makes you seem extremely out of touch.
That’s because they ARE extremely out of touch.
Anyone who has played the game for 5 minutes knows what we need.
Precursor crafting
New dungeons
New guild missions
New features
New zones
New skills
New professions
New traits
The latest Anet interview expressly stated that they are currently not working on and have no plans to develop any of those things, they are instead focusing on LW and esports.

I agree. And when I do start a new character (currently have 23, 20 of which are lvl 80) then I will get direct benefit from these changes.
Oh, and it is my feeling that attracting new players and getting them to stay with the game does benefit us old timers.
we have no raids dont know why ,raid can be content for 8 players like in dc universe with 1 week loot timegate but anyway
-no raids
-no new dungs
-no new skills or maybe finally let us take utility to elite slot
-no build templates
-no pvp,www patches (rainbow cmd tag pls we really need that ?! where is new squad system , www updates nothing )
-no gvg
-no perma content(or maybe empty dry tops where pugs running from one event to another one can get to tier 4,5 or even higher )
-no new weapons
And all we need is NEW LVLING SYTEM hell yh I only have 5lvl20 scrolls,221 tomes and already have 4 chars on lvl 80 . People who starts playing dont care about it and they will level to 80 without your updates but they will stop playing like rest because there is no new content .
I really never heard anyone complain about the old leveling process. The people I knew loved leveling and hated the end game (or lack thereof)
I don’t think it needed to change. And I really don’t think any of these changes are a good idea.
They’ve been giving you “endgame” content. It’s called Living World.
You all are dissatisfied with it, and just complain more.
Not enough new stuff not enough stuff to do. Gimme gimme gimme.
I have an idea!
Sit back and enjoy the game a bit, instead of rushing through for achievement points and bragging rights.
If it has no replay value to you, why are you playing in the first place? There’s got to be something keeping you here, other than complaints and pessimism about this game.
So what, people who’ve busted kitten get passed over this time. They’re making the game easier to grasp and less overwhelming. rewarding people who are just starting their journeys. Call me crazy, but all the fancy black lion weapon skins, ascended weapons and armor, and Living Story parts aren’t for new players, they’re for vets. For people who’ve been around the block and around the world. Sure, I’m right there with you. My wife was reading the newest news to me, and I got disappointed by the no retroactive rewards. But I understand. Doing That many missed rewards for that many people would take months, years even to trace out and catch up on. And the majority of you would be whining that there’s no new content while they’re busy sorting though the mess of this one.
I don’t know. Maybe I’m just wierd. Maybe I’m old. Maybe I was just grown differently, but there’s this little thing called respect. And complaining at every little thing that does not appease you doesn’t show a whole lot of it. The men and women at A-net are busting their kitten for the players, both now and future. Just because they can’t do it all, all at once, is no reason to kitten on their heads.
I don’t raid, I barely fractal, and I suck beyond words at PvP and WvW.
But I try, and that’s what counts.
Blog post confuses me…
- What new player is going to read the changes in this blog post? A new player is going to just pick up the game and start learning it by playing it.
- Existing players will read the blog post and be disappointed because the only changes will affect a new player’s experience of the game much more than a veteran one.
- So why even drip-feed this to us – the veteran players – in blog posts, under the false pretense that it’s something we should be excited about? It makes you seem extremely out of touch.
1. That’s true, though when compared to other players, I could imagine the experience would be a bit more streamlined than before.
2. Being an existing player, I think this would work okay with me as I do plan on levelling my 3rd character.
3. I don’t think that announcement is meant for just us. Keep in mind that it’s shown on the main site, meaning people who are curious about GW2 yet want to know about the game in detail, then they’d at least skim it over. At least that’s what I did when I read about the Festival of the Four Winds before I bought the game myself months ago.
It’s good to update the game for new players but this part of the “feature” patch was more about moving China updates to the rest of us under the guise of “features” & kill key farming in 1 go.
I guess I’d be ok with killing key farming if the weapon prices were remotely sane.
The only thing that will be of any use to exsisting players, and that’s if the have bought the commander tomb is that it will be account wide. Other than that I’ve seen nothing to get exsited about personally. The changes to the crafting UI will be nice also.

Agreed. I understand it’s a ‘feature pack’ and not a ‘content pack’, but some expansion like content would be more then welcome by now.
In an interview they said they aren’t working on dungeon related stuff, don’t have any plans to bring SAB back (and I fail to see why they can’t just enable the existing SAB stuff for the month(s) that they will be on ‘break’ AGAIN)
After 2 years the only thing we are getting is: a big middle finger to WvW (really? 2 years and all we got is a date, account bound commander tags, OP siege blockers and making already OP golems even more OP), a bunch of stuff created at least 6 months ago for china (yes, that’s how much anet seems to care about us), more boring low level grind (unlocking personal story and weapon skills through level up and all because it’s so very hard to figure out how to click on that weapon skills you just unlocked)
Thankfully we don’t have to grind buggy events or solo group events (because nobody else is interested in that event) anymore for a trait… oh wait…)
I have a lvl80 for every class and even have world completion, I have done the dungeons, seen the fracals, the only thing getting me back in this game is the
wvw-guild-raids and that’s it. The living world is very little content with a bad story telling (filled with plot holes, inconsistencies, etc…) .
So, there is literately nothing for me to do in this game (done this, seen that, bored there too) and with no expansion in sight and wvw not getting updates (not even gem story skins for rams, ac, etc… ?) and not even new REAL features… Why keep playing?
All we are getting is what china got 6 months ago. .
At this point they could just announce it like this ‘GW2 china update – more grind coming soon to a continent near you’)
