With the new wardrobe system that’s coming, we can pretty much make our characters look however we want them to look without sacrificing stats…almost. Suppose someone—an RPer, maybe—makes a Warrior who is effectively a berserker, and likes to charge into battle with no chest armor? Or perhaps another RPer’s character goes on a bender, and finds himself in battle with no pants?

My suggestion is to be able to hide ANY armor piece, not just headpieces and gloves. I know this will probably cause a lot of people to run around fighting in nothing but underwear, but considering that, even without such a feature, people in the original Guild Wars taking off all their armor and dancing in town was not an uncommon sight…

Watching everyone fighting in nothing but underwear would do more to harm my immersion as an RPer than what we have now. Contrary to what a lot of uneducated people think, no one goes to battle in underwear.

You HAVE seen female light armor, right?

If you’re doing combat in pants or bare chest mostly for RP, that sounds like a one-time situation to me! Seems a big request for " ‘Charge!’ /em gets stabbed in the bare back by a Centaur. The End." to me!

Sounds like something that would happen even with light armor. :-P And I wouldn’t think it such a big request to be able to hide chest, leg, and foot armor just as you can with headgear, gloves, and back armor.

Actually specifically had male characters in mind, but it could work for females, too. :P I don’t doubt that, as long as female characters are wearing bras, it wouldn’t be a problem for females to walk around with hidden chest armor, as well.

I approve of this idea. It’s already possible to unequip all your armor and run around naked if you really want to do that anyway, you just have to pay the cost of being weaker than normal. And when your armor breaks it’s removed from the character model, so it can also already happen as part of normal gameplay.

I guess the deciding factor would be how many players really want to run around naked all the time. I suspect that some gamers (straight male teens mostly) would be giddy at the prospect of having their human female mesmer run around barely clothed with no penalty to their stats, but if the GW2 demographic overall is older than that, then it probably wouldn’t be too big of an issue.

I was mostly just posting a compromise solution that avoids some of the possible “lawl every1 iz nekkid! xD”, “lolz look @ all teh sexxy bikini ladys O_O” and “Oh my goodness! The ESRB rating did not warn me about all these scantly-clad players! Surely this game is some kind of cesspool for the shameless and depraved!” results that might be holding such a feature up.

Joking aside (and thanks for the little edutainment), I think topless (as they appear now) would be ok – and I would definitely love that for my charr. I often don’t wear a helmet so I can see at least a little bit of fur (heavy).

I would love to be able to hide my chestplate, especially since the armour parts we get for achievement points look really good(imo) on some naked characters. I’m not even joking.

You know…with an idea like that, it might give a little incentive for them to add customization for undergarments (though “no undergarments” would definitely NOT be an option—it would mostly be choosing patterns). Plus, maybe add the ability to dye the undergarments?

Alternatively, perhaps an armor skin that looks like non-default undergarments?
