I’ve seen so many topic titles being so negative about the Monthly. I’ve been playing since headstart access, played in all the betas, have 13 characters and I love this game. I have not, to date, completed a monthly because I don’t want to go to WvW. I just don’t like PVP type things so I just haven’t done it. Ya, I’m out whatever karma/exp I may have gotten, but whatever right? It’s my game and I played how I wanted to.

I’m just excited to see a Monthly that does not have any WvW or PVP type things at all in it.

Thank you Anet for mixing it up a little bit. Variety is the spice of life.

This monthly is awesome. I love it!

You only cant enjoy those changes, if you concentrate on only one aspect of the game. If you only do spvp, or wvw, you deny many wonderfull parts of the game.

I agree. Thank you for the new monthly and the updated UI. I can’t wait to try aspects of the game I don’t normally venture in to. Love it.

50 kills in WvW is hardly a challenge, and takes probably 30 minutes tops. Stop acting like it was so hard.

Nobody said it was hard. They said they have no interest in WvW. There’s a difference.

I haven’t seen the items on the monthly list yet. I’m curious, are dungeon runs part of the requirements? I ask because on the flipside of the WVW complaints would be people who have no interest in fractals or dungeons in general.

Typical elitist response.

“It’s hardly a challenge for me and because I like doing it, means YOU should, not only do it, but LOVE IT too.”

I’m not a fan of WvW either. Probably because I’m terrible at PvP no matter how hard I try. lol It’s like insta-death for me.

Give me coffee or give me…. Screw it. Just give me coffee.

Oh please, you don’t see WvWers making 10 different posts every time a dungeon or fractal is required for monthly, which is pretty much every month btw.

BS.

If you aren’t experienced with PvP, perhaps because you don’t kitten like it (imagine that), there’s no way in hell you’re getting 50 kills in 30 minutes unless the servers are so totally mismatched that your world absolutely dominates the others, and the whole game becomes a turkey shoot.

In a fair fight, non-PvPers who are just there for the achievement are either going to take ages to get their kills by playing it safe, and therefore have few opportunities to tag opponents, or they take risks they aren’t experienced enough to pull off, and end up padding someone else’s monthly tally. Normally, they will just find a zerg due to safety in numbers, follow it, and get a rare tag that qualifies as a kill within the chaos of zerg v. zerg.

So, sell that crack some place else, m’kay sport?

I’d also like to add my appreciation that WvW kills aren’t on the monthly.

@Dredlockrasta
The monthly is designed to try to get people to explore parts of the game they might otherwise avoid by way of a pretty decent reward, so it makes sense for things like WvW, Dungeons, Fractals, and so on to appear on the monthly requirements.
And since there are four reqs there will always be people who don’t like some of the reqs because it’s outside what they already do anyway (which is the point), there was even someone complaining about the Event req…

The rest of us understand that sometimes the monthly will have things we don’t like, and we simply write those months off and move on.
Except, month after month they kept putting the WvW req on the list, and many of us really don’t like PvP. So we asked for an occasional monthly without it, not for it to be removed forever, just sometimes.
And the hilarious thing is the arguments people would make against ever having a month without it. They were always going on about how the monthly was designed to get us into other parts of the game, and we should just suck it up and play WvW, and they could get the 50 kills in 30 minutes and we shouldn’t ask for the monthly on a silver platter and blah blah blah.
While those same people would complain about reqs they didn’t want to do.
In the end what it came down to is that they didn’t want to lose the freebie monthly req.
One guy even said he hoped WvW and Fractals would always be there because they meant getting half the monthly on a silver platter (his words), since he did those all the time.

This monthly represents all we were asking for. Some variety on the monthly requirements.

I for one am excited about the monthly, about trying out the dungeons. Because up till this point I’ve avoided them, as they’ve always been on a monthly with WvW, which I knew I wouldn’t complete, so doing the dungeon req towards the monthly would end up being wasted effort. And I hate wasted effort.
So not only is this a chance at completing the monthly, it’s a chance to try out the dungeons as well.

There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon

I was so happy when I logged on today and saw finally a monthly that did not require me to spend COUNTLESS hours doing something I have absolutely no intrest in doing atm.

WvW stuff never belonged in the normal Monthly in my opinion, there is already a pvp monthly achivement it belongs in there.

I will say though if I ever see any Pvp related stuff in the monthlies or dailies in the future ones i will be sorely disapointed.

One of the problems with WvW is that its designed in such a way that for some players it is completly unreasonable to expect them to do it, the toll WvW takes on the average computer is mind blowing.

And yes there should be nothing stopping or hindering a player from having a fair chance at doing the monthly, especially now that it is a important part of the fractal progression.

Kilrain, there is no monthly for people that WvW. There is a daily sPvP, is that what you are thinking about?

It also seems a bit hypocritical, to say that WvW kills do not ‘belong’ in the monthly. The monthly is not just for PvE players, it is supposed to be for everyone. You having to get WvW kills is EXACTLY the same as a WvW player having to run dungeons or fractals. Yet you don’t hear the PvP/WvW crowd whining about having to run dungeons, why is that?

The monthlys aren’t mandatory. As mush as I would love to finish one, I’m not looking forward to dungeon running. It isn’t my playstyle. But if I want the monthly, I need to dive in and try something outside of my comfort zone.

And I don’t care how bad you think you are at PvP, or WvW. You can get 50 kills in the same or less time than it takes to run 7 dungeons, so the time investment isn’t an arguement. You don’t want to spend time in WvW and I don’t want to spend time in dungeons. ANET can’t win, can they?

And my computer is eight years old, it runs WvW just fine.

More dungeons sorry not happy. 3 months straight about dungeons or no reward.
Nice to see people are happy but some hate dungeons and fractals and that is all we have been told to do for well over 3 months straight. No not fun and not nice. play their way or dont play at all.
If you want the best in slot gear they are mandatory in a relatively quick fashion.

Dungeons is even worse than it sounds for those who dislike dungeons. Fractals don’t count it seems.

I like this monthly (not sure about the 500 items salvaged but hey) because I absolutely despise WvW. The problem now is that the WvW players really need their own monthly. It’s a bit unfair currently, the PvE and PvP players have to do what they usually do to complete their monthly.
