Feedback: Event loot nerfed
Previously, when it used to give 6-8 silver per exotic bag, it was nerfed. Atleast it was understandable, but why nerf again?? Now it gives 0-7 silver per bag (3-4 average on exotic bag) and I thought that was ok. Then why reduce the amount of gold again??

It is in the context of them removing armour repairs and the cost of retraiting. Whether it’d result in more gold, less or the same amount in the economy we can’t say yet.
Notice how the picture was of the Queensdale troll?
Champ train much?
I hope they are prepearing for a new loot system t encourage players to play the dungeons/bosses with the motivation that amazing stuff can drop instead of, gold focused mechanics.
You mean they’re trying to make me play other content in the game? This is an outrage!

I think it’s gonna reduce the amount of gold in the economy. Repair costs and retraits (at least for me) cost me maybe a gold or two in my lifetime of pugging dungeons. Champ farms however make up a huge part of the economy. On the bright side, this means inflation may slow down a little, though with less outs for money in the economy it could just skyrocket.
The nerf on silver earned after succeeding an event is even a bigger joke. Lvl 80 events used to award 1s86c per successful event and nerf that too? Lol

The problem is that gold is by FAR the most valuable thing in game. EVERYTHING you could possibly want, you can get with gold. Which in itself wouldn’t be so bad, the bigger problem is: for most things you might want, the ONLY way to get them is by farming gold.
That’s the problem with a reward system that depends almost entirely on RNG. If you get lucky and get a rare RNG drop, you can make a killing on the TP. If you don’t, you will have to grind for weeks and months to be able to buy what you want off the TP. It’s a lottery based system which doesn’t make for enjoyable or rewarding gameplay, sadly.
atm you better off farming t6 in open world couse they cost 40 silver+ each
I feel the same way. Events are one of the absolute core feature of GW2 gameplay and completing events should be rewarded and encouraged at all levels. It should in fact be a lot MORE rewarded and encouraged than it currently is, not less.
:/
They aren’t reducing ‘loot’ per se, just the raw gold from events. Same with champ bags.
I think we’ll need to see how it goes, considering they are removing a couple of gold sinks in the process. Might balance itself out, but we don’t really know.
Maybe they’ll boost the karma for a successful event a tiny bit? Yeah probably not.
The little downsides like this I’m willing to take for all the other awesome stuff coming.
would rather this stay the same and keep repair costs.
I go to vigil keep, and go into overflow because so many people are standing around chatting near the forge, or waiting in queue to get into wvw.
I decide I am going to go seek out events in the world map, I go from one to the next and I see nobody. Every now and then I will run into one other person, but they aren’t doing the event, they are just running through.
I think to myself maybe people just aren’t doing the events because there is not a worthwhile reward to doing them?
And now I hear, Anet is removing what little gold there was as a reward for doing events, And that They Think It Will Help Spread People Around???
What the hell guys. some of us actually want to play this game, not stand around being a day trader on the Tradepost.
I really don’t get why they had to tie this in with the “tramp train” at all. I very rarely die let alone even get downed. So I am hardly ever paying for repairs anyway. The thing is I don’t do any of these “tramp trains” so saying they are lowering those rewards BECAUSE of the removal of repair costs (as well as other rewards in other parts of the game which may impact on me) is something I am just a bit iffy on. I sence they just want to remove cash in general for some reason…..
Also something else to think about, seriously how many if any that do run the “tramp trains” actually die to have to repair their gear anyways? I doubt any, so again this just seems strange to me to be tied in…
I guess the next thing they will say is that Dungeon rewards are also going to be lowered again due to this change. Oh well, again it wont effect me as I don’t run dungeons but if so I can see an uproar coming to the forums.

I do. I regularly run the temple events in Orr to get the t6 mats. Occasionally I run champ train I’m FGS when there is nothing else to do for some extra money. The WP cost is already there and it usually gets cancelled (with a 2s profit on an average) by the raw silver from the champion loots, so I thought the first nerf in October last year was fair enough

The current rewards are too low to be considered worth farming. They have to increase the rewards based on the time you spend completing them. They have to increase them drastically.
IMO, they want you to BUY GEMS with RLM and convert to gold to make IGM, very sad we can’t make and obtain gold/items/mats just by playing the game, so sad.

It does seem strange they would nerf the rewards for events when people always complained that the rewards where so low that events where not worth doing in the first place,
I guess they still have some learning to do when it comes to time vs reward.
Knew this would happend… Well.. guess complains are taking advantage over updates?
Hopefully nerf of even gold is a joke….Lol

Well I don’t think this will impact the average player too much. Maybe the champ train will take a knock, but essentially with this change the only running cost of pve play is waypoints.
Reducing the amount of gold you get from champions and events is a great feature! I’ve been waiting for this feature since launch!

It wont impact anyone because noone is farming events becuase it’s not worth the time. The have to increase the loot to stop dungeongrinding.
Remember that they are DECREASING gold sinks. No longer will you need to purchase multiple gem store sets, weapons, repair armor, etc. That translates to HUNDREDS of gold saved over the course of a year.
Don’t cry just yet because you’re getting 1s less per Champ bag/event. You can and likely will still farm the kitten outta them, so relax.
Don’t forget that this is also an on-going project: they will continue to tweak and balance the game so that ALL aspects are rewarding(perhaps not ideally equal, but hopefully close).
I don’t see how nerfing events and champ bags having less gold will “spread out player activity a bit” like they say in their post. Do they expect people to stop doing events and killing champs? What are they expecting to happen instead? I honestly don’t understand the logic.
No one does events pretty much as you said because besides the karma (which is pretty much useless anyways) they are simply not rewarding enough to do. For the map you are in think of it as the temporary LA since that was destroyed and has no access to bank/TP etc now. This is why people are just standing around and chatting or afk. People just feel the need of attention from others or that social interaction and LA was the place for that.
As for nerfing rewards, as far as events go they are already (supposedly) working on better rewards for doing events so perhaps the measly 1-2 silver we do currently get for doing events wont be effected at all. Perhaps it’s just the events that are currently part of the “tramp trains” that are going to be hit since they get both the event and champ loot rewards.
Let’s just hope that if ALL events are hit because of these changes they also are bringing in the better event rewards that they have promised for some time now. Which btw I figured would be similar to champ boxes anyways…
I especially like how vague it was, because telling us stuff in a blog post designed to tell us stuff would be spoilers, I guess.
ANet has abandoned events as a key part of the game on their own. They still have events as part of other stuff like living story and world bosses, but they have no interest in the rest of the events populating the world. They are no longer fixing them, and the Dynamic Events forum has been closed and moved to the archives.

Why wouldn’t they put it in the blogpost? Have you done the champ train in frostgorge on desolation? It’s a huge blob and on occasions we even get an overflow. A huge chunk of players are doing something that took Anet hours to create instead of fractals or dungeons which is something that’s gotten more heart into.
They are really putting alot of focus in the game now with this feature pack and WvW season 2 starting tomorrow and still a fair size of playerbase are still running around for hours all but just pushing number ’’1’’ and ’’w’’. Why should the most boring and easiest part of the game also be amongt the most consistent and rewarding? Maybe this will force some players to actually explore the game a bit more and see what more and rewarding stuff it has to offer.
The blogpost in itself isn’t all about free repairs so is it really a bad thing when they are trying to adress everyone affected?
And sure if people still want to run champ train, fine by them. They can do it but why should I who does world bosses, daily fractal and dungeon runs along with orichalcum farm earn almost equal as a champ farmer. It’s ridiculous. But it is all to balance the economy in the game and if that forces something to be nerfed champ train was a great choice. It’s dull, it’s boring and it’s waay too rewarding.
It’s not only about the rewards, it’s simply because they are too repetive and don’t give the player the illusion to have an impact on the world.

Did you even read the thread? We don’t talk about the championbags. We talk about the event loot. And as you may have noticed, the loot isn’t worth farming. They also wont decrease the gold income. The trading post can still be flipped, dungeons can still be used to get gold. Why sould you do events for 1s, if you can run dungeons for 1g? They don’t decrease the gold income, they just cut diversity.
Yah, I’m not really sure where the event farm nerf is even coming from.
No one farms events for the end reward. The end reward is a pittance as it is. You either farm the enemies during the event in hopes of getting drops, or you farm champ events for champ bags. The nerf is basically a solution for a problem that doesn’t even exist (and in fact it could be argued that the problem is the exact opposite, that the event rewards are too small).
I don’t champ farm so yeah this doesn’t impact me all that much. Sorry that your champ farming will be less productive.
I have literally opened 10,000’s of champion bags and am completely bored by whats in them anyway…so I don’t care…
If they nerf them too much, lets just all go to how it was before and avoid champions completely…

That’s really sad.
In my opinion it would be great if new events were constantly being added to the game. It gets stale when you know every single event in every single zone.
Zombies don’t really need gold anyways.

Anet has mentioned previously that their metrics tell them that we don’t like Dynamic Events, and don’t do them. That’s why none have been added since September 2012.
reducing gold income from events and champion loots will not stop the farming.
Trains don’t exist for raw gold income, they exist to find that sweet loot that sells high on the TP.
So what you are really doing is hurting players who do events and explore.
You basically just increased the grind factor. Players do not change unless you completely remove the reward or gate it. Why not only allow one champ loot box per day per account per champion???? That would definitely spread the player base…
Seems like the champ train whiners won out in the end.

It’s not only about the rewards, it’s simply because they are too repetive and don’t give the player the illusion to have an impact on the world.
I’m sort of ok with the repetitive nature, my problem is with quantity and finding the things. In areas I’m familiar with I pretty much know where the events occur (but of course these are events I know very well), in areas I don’t know I can spend 10 minutes running around looking for an event and not find one.
So in my case all ANet needs to do is, add more events and perhaps consider the ability to see events across the entire map your in, or at least in a much larger area. Sure this does destroy the joy of stumbling across a new event, but unfortunately after 2 years with very few new events not a lot of new any more.
If they wanted to kill champ trains they could simply just adjust the re spawn timers in FSG etc…
So this change was for something else.
They aren’t reducing ‘loot’ per se, just the raw gold from events. Same with champ bags.
What ? Raw Gold ? Events give something like 1s 30c .. no matter how long it takes. All they can reduce is the “raw copper”. Even the quickest possible events are not worth the time reward wise.
Mine iron ore or chop some wood and you’ve made more than with one event.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Anet has mentioned previously that their metrics tell them that we don’t like Dynamic Events, and don’t do them. That’s why none have been added since September 2012.
If so, they are simply stupid. Have they never considered that running a 15min dungeonpath for 1 gold is more satisfying than doing 15 events for 2 silver each?
I don’t see how nerfing events and champ bags having less gold will “spread out player activity a bit” like they say in their post. Do they expect people to stop doing events and killing champs? What are they expecting to happen instead? I honestly don’t understand the logic.
F’real. I spend most of my available GW2 time in the evenings hopping from group event to event. It nets me dailies, maaaybe a gold if I’m lucky (and usually most of that is NOT from the money drops, usually it’s from getting a rare sigil or two), some salvage, and light karma. My time would be better spent doing dungeons, probably, if I wanted pure coin. I feel like I’m being barely rewarded monetarily for my time to begin with… So why nerf a pretty low-coin-reward system already? I hardly spend anything significant on armor repair or trait resetting, so I feel like I’m getting the short end of the stick.
Mostly, I just don’t understand what I’m supposed to do with a spare 20 minutes with an end-game character besides a CoF run (which gets boring). How exactly will this “spread out player activity” or change my routine in any way? I don’t see how it could, but I could just be missing something :)
Fractals can take 2-3 hours depending on the group and which fractals you end up with, and dungeons other than CoF or some CoE paths can take an hour or more (again, depending on the group). I just… I’m not sure what this does except encourage me to event farm harder during my limited weekday time? -shrug- we’ll see.
Guess this is a good time to mention this
1. Make a perma level 51-53 character
2. Open all your champ bags on that character.
3. Salvage all of the equips you get
3. Sell the linen and rugged leather. (unless you need it)
I’m glad for the nerf on the champ train. a) You can make far better gold doing other things. b) I personally think this hurts the game because players tell new players this is how you earn money in the game, and they quit after seeing how grindy and boring it is.
I earn 12g+ in under 2 hours in Arah every night. Trust me, the champ train is not a great way to earn money. It is just easy and boring.

The sucks thing is you have champs in dungeons to not only in open world
