You know, outside of RP purposes, I think there are very few instances where players have to talk to NPCs with Hearts on top of their heads before they do a quest. I know this is meant to make heart quests less tedious to play but I have been thinking about this:

Instead of revealing all the details of the heart quest if you are within the heart area, give players the general objective behind the quest and to get more details, you need to speak to the NPC so he/she could tell you more and your quest log will reveal those details afterwards.

Maybe nice idea, FIRST time on map complete. But some people have many alts, and I know for myself, that would get really tedious really fast…. but maybe that’s just me.

Right now it’s a choice. You can speak to NPCs if you want to. Other people don’t have to.

I don’t think we should take away more choices in this game.

You think only the choices you don’t like should be taken away because you’ve expressed satisfaction with all the choices lost in the NPE thus far and dismissed others complaints asking to play how they want.

As far as I know you never have to speak to the NPC before doing a heart. That’s definitely what they intended when they were explaining the events/hearts system before launch.

I always do. Even if I’ve done that heart many times before I like to speak to the NPC for the background on why I’m doing this. But I appreciate that other people don’t want to do that and I see no reason to change it.

Although I’d also say the fact that all the hearts are completed in the area around the NPC eliminates most of the inconvenience already. It’s not like other games where a quest will send you across several different maps and then you have to go all the way back to tell the NPC you did it and collect your reward.
