Quite frankly your reaction to this is kinda pathetic , why would this make you happy? i could understand your dual wield concerns but to want to have legendaries completely removed from the wardrobe is…….erm whats the word I’m looking for here …..someone fills in the dots.

There is absolutely no reason to make a dual legendary at all after this change, people who wants legendary available in wardrobe will NEVER gonna make dual, people who made dual or more legendary gonna feel like idiots, and please don’t tell me that we lose nothing, you are not in our shoes, you will never, ever be one of us. Many people are feeling this way, that’s why someone made this thread and people like us are in this thread. Sure some people with dual not agreed with us, but they at least know how us feel..

Funny how people called us selfish, we Made dual or more, we have the RIGHT to complain about new changes.

I have dual legendaries and I still think this is a great addition. I can care less if people copy a single on or not. I earned mine and I know that they will have the best stats in the game forever. I do not want compensation or anything. The ones complaining are far and few between. The majority of people endorse this change and I am one of them.

So, you’ll be unique. And isn’t that the entire purpose of Legendaries? Then why complain?

Again, We don’t care about the unique that you are talking about, is it worth it? No.
That’s why we’re complaining.

And yes, you do have the right to complain. You have the right to hiss and moan and make a lot of noise, but at the end of the day, most people (including many dual-legendary owners) are overjoyed at this change and your petition to block it has 13 signatures. I still don’t understand why people call us “selfish”, we found a problem, we want Anet to improve on the upcoming system, not destroy it. Should we let the Eternity problem go live? You tell me! Same applies to dual wields, making one does not entitle you to have two at the same time. It shouldn’t be fair both ways.

I obviously want to enjoy the Legendaries in wardrobe system, don’t get me wrong from a removed entry on OP, but the fact is that dual wielders are not benefited at all stated in the past 14 pages (if you read).

This is a constructive thread to raise a current problem, not a ‘suck it up’ thread. If you want to tell us to ‘suck it up’, go craft Infinite Light TWICE right this moment, and ‘suck it up’.

I would sign that. I love cats!

And as much as I hate analogies, this is what came to mind:

Bob buys two PS3s for $599. A few months later, his time frame for refund has expired. They announce that anyone who buys a PS3 for $599 will get an extra for free. Joe buys a PS3 for $599 and gets an extra.

Bob can certainly get annoyed, disappointed, etc. etc. But is he entitled to a refund?

Except in this case, the free PS3 is actually a PS3 casing you can put it on a PS1 or an Xbox or whatever.

Essentially, what some people are complaining about is the fact that you can’t tell the difference between a player with “true” dual legendary from the player who just copied it to his off-hand.

In any game where development is ongoing, you run a risk whenever you make a decision that it will come back to bite you when things are changed. A lot of people would have done things differently if they had known this was coming. I, myself, spent 120 laurels putting the exact same ascended amulet on every one of my alts – whereas with this patch, I will only need one. Am I getting my laurels back? Nope. I know people who have 4+ ascended backpieces. Are they getting their stacks of ectos back? Nope.

If you compensate dual legendary wielders, you have to compensate everyone. We both know that’s not going to happen – it would be a logistical nightmare. The difference is, I know I paid a price to be first, and I’ve made my peace with it. People aren’t calling you selfish for making two legendaries – they’re calling you selfish for demanding that your losses be top priority fixes.

You can’t skin an amulet. No matter what you will still have your amulets and people with only one will still only have one. They are just going account bound (if any).

The top priority fixes most definitely is the Eternity bug, tell me I’m wrong and people who sell Eternity after soulbinding Twilight and Sunrise, gaining 4000-5000g and still able to use Twilight and Sunrise skins, are perfectly alright. We just pointed out an error in this system for dual wielders, and we were hoping they could do something about it. I don’t require compensation, but the only thing I’m interested in, is if they would adjust their system to fix these problems.

It really didn’t help garner sympathy that one of the first solutions proposed was “Give me a box of gold equal to value of legendary”. Greed, for lack of a better word, is not good in this case.

Except it seems that a lot of people doesn’t seem to consider it an improvement – quite the opposite.

Should we let the Eternity problem go live?

No, this is an obvious exploit. Practically anyone in this topic agrees with this.

Same applies to dual wields

Ah, it’s “the same” only for you. That’s what the whole discussion is about.

I obviously want to enjoy the Legendaries in wardrobe system, don’t get me wrong from a removed entry on OP, but the fact is that dual wielders are not benefited at all stated in the past 14 pages (if you read).

Exactly opposite, dual wielders are benefitting. They can make two different legendaries instead of having to make one they already have. If they already have duplicates, they will most likely be able to contact support in order to unbind one of them (and sell for a nice sum of gold).

This is a constructive thread to raise a current problem, not a ‘suck it up’ thread. If you want to tell us to ‘suck it up’, go craft Infinite Light TWICE right this moment, and ‘suck it up’.

Almost every “dual legendary” owner in this thread seems to think that Infinite Light should not receive the same kind of protection and that it should be for legendaries only. Specifically the very legendaries they personally have.

I’d also want to point out, that dual legendary wielders several times in the past made topics to claim, that having to craft two identical legendaries is unfair when two-handed weapon wielders need to craft only one. One of the most common propositions was, if i remember correctly, that Zap, Quip and Incinerator should be crafted as a pair of weapons.

Funny how things change, right?

The better option (though possibly harder to code) would be to remove dusk/dawn/twilight/Sunrise skin unlocks on Eternity forging. You want the skins back? Easy! Just click on the weapon(s) that grant those skins. You still have them, right?

Nope. Joe bought one, and get as many as he wants for free, does that sounds make sense at all? Now you see the problem.

I would be extremely happy with just accountbound. Would be very nice to be able to spread my weapons around easily. Although no matter what is done will still seem to be a small bit of a waste to have made 3 incinerators.

I’d be more happy to feel like 1 was a waste instead of my 2 extras I made though.

I really don’t understand... the skins won’t change and you’ll be able to use them on more characters, where is the problem? Did you buy a legendary because you thought it was some "prestigious" thing to do instead of just because you liked the skin?

I can understand being pretty annoyed that you go through all the trouble to craft not one but two legendaries of the same type, no doubt it has a certain prestige (and symmetry) to it, but at the end of the day it’s a game. I’ve crafted Bifrost and Eternity and soon bolt so I’m pretty overjoyed at being able to dual-wield Bolt.

Is your gaming experience and fun honestly going to be so terribly damaged because someone is dual wielding the legendaries you chose to make twice? It’s small compensation but you’ll have best in-game stats and changeable any time you choose, and if you’re really desperate to let people know you aren’t a scrub who made only one Incinerator (gasp!) just ping it so we can all bask in your glory. Sorry for being snide but having people try and revoke something that can improve your experience and in no way damage theirs is pretty aggravating (aimed at those against LW skins being available altogether).

You are all misunderstanding if you think people doing legendaries didn’t do them for the skins. Back half a year legendaries were exotics with normal stats, you ONLY did them for the skins.

Now you’re telling the most hardcore players : “those hundreds hours you spent to make your second incinerator were a waste, you should just have waited and done another legendary instead”.

It’s not right at all. Anet NEEDS either to unbind the legendaries and let people with duplicates sell the duplicates or give them another non-duplicate legendary skin.

I agree this realllly needs to be addressed.

I think if they make Eternity account bound on creation, I would have a greater inventive to actually craft it. Currently, it’s more cost effective to just buy Eternity out-right, which I think is sustained by people using it as a way to liquidate Sunrise/Twilight.

But to be honest, I never understood why Legendaries are actually tradable at all. King Arthur didnt just buy Excalibur off Ebay, so why the heck can you buy Eternity off the trading post, that makes it rather un-legendary.

The precursors should be still tradable because people get duplicates and frankly we need a non-RNG way to get them, but I think they should just make all Legendaries account bound from now on. I don’t think anyone actually shells out 600 bucks for pixels anyways.

You’d be surprised (actually probably not) how many people actually straight up buy legendaries with real money—>gold. I spoke to a person about a month ago or so who wound up spending like $300 for keys for Lovestruck weapons. He kicked himself after he realized he could have put the money towards a legendary (he didn’t know you could convert gems to gold).

Someone else I know has apparently spent close to $1600 on various gem store stuff. If people have the spare money and freedom to spend, it really is more convenient for them. The money replaces the time grind. He’s going to pay someone else $100 after his friend farms enough gold for a precursor for him.

^surely ‘paying’ a friend $100 is RMT and thus bannable but anyhow…

I’d say the number of people paying real works money for Legendaries is still a very small minority, and it’d be more beneficial for Anet to make them untradable because currently a lot if people just won’t bother going for a legendary because they’ve very much lost their prestige status because of being tradable.

If they change that in the long term we’ll have more players going for Legendaries, meaning they’ll player longer, meaning more gem sales from them.

There’s also an argument that if someone is willing to dump 600+ bucks into a legendary, they’ll dump that into gem store items/gold to buy mats to make a legendary anyways.

Besides all this, I’m still waiting for a response on what’s going to happen to Eternoty given now there an exploit associated with it.

April 15 Patch does 2 things:
1) Legendaries become Skins, opens up “options for players” to apply the Legendary skin to any tier of weapon (white, blue, green, yellow, pink) === Legendary lost it’s “prestigous end-game weapon” status, any player at any level can be seen with a Legendary as long as he/she owns one already, no need to wait for end-game.

2) Legendaries become Account Bound, not Soulbound anymore; opens up “options for players” to transfer Legendaries across to any of their characters === Legendary lost it’s value, no longer need to craft as many Legendaries as before. Precursor demand will drop a tiny bit. New PvP Reward Tracks also adds more Precursors into the game, higher precursor supply.

I’m excited to see Queensdale filled with “Legendaries” everywhere!!! Might be great to show new comers to GW2 what amazing items they could look forward to in the game.

Probably against the ToS. But I don’t think ANet really cares for the people giving money to their friends. They’re not as much of hindrance to business as the gold sellers are. Especially when the obtaining of the precursor will be done through legit means.

But I agree, making legendaries untradeable is probably best at this point, and it would close the potential Eternity exploit.

What do you mean by no need to wait for endgame? I dont think anyone can get a legendary just casually levelling up unless the bust put the credit card. And frankly, not many people I know would use a transmutation charge on a levelling weapon, but that’s an anecdote.

I didn’t see much of an effect when they added precursors as possible items from rank up chests in WvW, because the droprate is so small, its doesnt add many to the game to affect anything. If another Karka event hits, that might, but I doubt rank up chests in sPvP is going to be much different to their WvW counterparts in terms of precursors.

Although I can’t back this up, I can almost guarantee you that very, very, very few people outside of dual wielding crafted multiples of the same legendary. Because people want more, not more of the same.

Look, I’m super-duper sorry you feel like you wasted your time, but that doesn’t give you the right to waste everyone else’s time as well. This system is an improvement no matter how un-special it makes you feel, and make no mistake, spending a lot of money on cosmetics does not make you special. Like, at all.

The sense of entitlement in this topic is dazzling. I do feel for anyone with any duplicates, don’t get me wrong. But things like “Anet NEEDS” “I have the RIGHT” A-net doesn’t need to do anything and they owe you nothing, the game is in their hands.

All we can do is make suggestions, like the OP has done and raise awereness to issues, but whichever descision A-net makes, is the one we’ll all have to life with.

And on that note I’d like to express my concern about the Eternity issue, I think it would be a smart step for Anet to prevent Eternity’s market sinking and that it’d be unwise to just count on very few people being able to abuse it. Anything else concerning the Wardrope and Legendaries would be a bonus in my eyes.

Yes but on the opposite side if Anet doesn’t respect the hardcore players many guilds will die (when their leaders and officers leave) and the game population will suffer from it. I also haven’t spent a penny on the TP for the last 6 months because of how inconsequential Anet has been. You could see this was coming…

So my full sets of ascended armor are becoming account-bound… Great news! But what if I’ve transmuted the ascended armor with cultural armor? Or put a set of “Soulbound on Acquire” runes from a dungeon vendor in the armor? Has anything been said about how this will be handled?

I think that as long as the item in question is Ascended (or Legendary), it will always be account bound and can be freely swapped between characters on your account. Similar to how (before the change locked it down) the Spinal Blades backpiece could be freely swapped between characters on your account even if you’d already put an upgrade into it.

So you admitted it was a waste of time for us, that’s how we feel, we never said that we’re special.

We worked for what we earn. It’s Anet making it a waste of time for us.

Remember, we worked for what we earn, it’s NOT free, and this is not about we have the right to waste everyone else’s time.

Soulbound on acquire might get changed into account bound on acquire (if they’ll remember about it). Cultural skins will almost certainly remain race-restricted, so most likely you will get an accout bound ascended armor restricted to a specific race.

Actions, not words.
