We already have a ‘stat’ named Ferocity. It’s part of personality along with dignity and charisma. I would find it an odd coincidence indeed if they named multiple things the same name.

If ferocity is crit damage, maybe charisma to be added for heals? Perhaps dignity for toughness? Maybe ferocity will also be conditions?

There are plenty of speculation threads on this, but with the addition of ferocity … maybe more likely?

Or better yet, you’ll actually have to condition your character to have the right personality for the stats you want (additional stats).

Or more likely still, they don’t care about the personality or working it into the game, and this is simply more evidence of that.

Maybe it’ll have a different spelling such as furrocity, which would explain all the giggle fits from today’s stream.

At first I thought they were talking about the trait chart names… but on there it’s called prowess.

Hmmmmm interesting. Maybe this is what they were eluding to (something other big coming to the game that will effect things), our personalities effecting our combat skills/stats!? Now that would be cool, easy to change them too if and when we want to.

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

When will they add Charisma then and what will it do? Maybe they’ll add a Love condition.

Hahaha my Mesmer has “unpredictable” or some such for an almost perfect average of all 3 lines. Now that could be a fun combat stat, perhaps hit himself or his allies, walking off muttering something silly about rabbits or who knows what!?

If this is really an approch of making the personality system more important, by turning them into Stats, then I think that Charisma and Dignity should definetely get their own Effects.

There are some Effects, which could be useful for the game as new Stat Effects to improve Support and Control Effects:

Charimas for Control
Dignity for Support.

Dignity for example should reduce for the character the chance to receive Critical Damage and slightly also reduce Condition Damage

That way Dignity would become the Counterweight to Ferocity of Enemy Players and Condition Spam Builds going to have a good support synergy then with Vitality and Toughness

Charisma instead should increase Condition Duration and Boon Duration, that way it is for Control Builds very useful, especially for Mesmers and Necromancers I think.
Charisma would have then good Synergy together with Healing Power and Condition Damage I think.

But all of this is just speculation, otherwise I can’t think of any good reason, other than Anet just beign very uncreative to name the Stat Ferocity, when there would be much better fitting Names for that statt, like Courage, Agility, Valor, Perspicacity or especially Dexterity.

Personally I like the idea behind sub classes ~ quoted from Chris Whiteside

I am particularly bothered by this unnecessary stat name change.

We already have ferocity in game, and it has an entirely different meaning.

Prowess however, sounds a lot better as a stat name and the stat as such has existed since the betas.

I’d really like to hear a developer’s response and reasoning behind this.

Or how about “Malice”, which is pretty apt for a character who goes out of their way to hit the hardest they can. I wonder if Anet has even heard of a Thesaurus

Only on the wiki. Its not noted (as far as I know) anywhere in the game as a stat or character mechanic.
