What is the purpose of Ferocity exactly? It increases crit dmg, yes, but so do Power!

More Power = higher sustain AND higher crit numbers.
More Ferocity only adds to higher crit numbers.

Please tell me how you got Power/Power/Power gear. I’m stuck with Power/Precision/Ferocity.

sorry now i got your question.
The point is that WAS a crit % before, and they changed it to ferocity to nerf power builds.

How’d that work out for them, everything is not P/P/F

Even if they nerfed it now, and made something else the highest DPS, everything would just change over to it,

This is why I think they are trying to force gear checks on the new fractals, to force players away from P/P/F

Yeah power gives more damage over all but there’s only so much power stats you can get. To further increase DPS, precision + ferocity exist.

They didn’t change them to nerf power build. They did it to standardize the stats. They use that opportunity to nerf critical damage a bit, but it’s not the reason why they did it.

Yeah, the problem was that trinkets where giving way more percentage crit damage increase than armor and stuff because it was a straight % increase instead of a stat.

Necros don’t have reflects, invulns, vigor, blocks,
extra dodges, real stability, mobility skills,
burst skills, sustain, or good support. GG ANET.

Ferocity is still crit percentage, it’s just arrived at via the formula (@ 80) of Ferocity/15 = Critical Damage Percentage. Also, while the nerf to P/P/F builds was put in at the same time as the changeover to Ferocity, Ferocity in itself did not have to be a nerf. All it would have taken was a lower divisor in the formula. The change was in aid of having the critical percentage stat to use the same stat numbers as stats like Power, Precision, Toughness, etc.

You are correct about power, but you’ll reach a point where you can’t get any more power and at that point you need to balance precision and ferocity.
Too much precision and you’ll waste stats since it has a cap.
Too much ferocity and you won’t have enough crits to proc all that ferocity.

Also, ferocity is a multiplier, so its increase isn’t linear like power.

To give minmaxers something to do math with.

I won’t be able to give the numbers right now but the idea would be:
Armor + Weapons + Jewels with power as main stats
Runes + Foods with power as main stats
Depending on profession, traits/skills that gives power
Sum all that and you’ll get the max power available.

About precision, you can get above 100% crit rate, but it won’t help at anything so it is just wasted points.

Let P := power, R := precision, F := ferocity, M := major (primary stat), m := minor (secondary stats), u := infusion stat. Set T = M+2m+u.

The stat constraint for equipment is as followed:

  • 0 <= P,R,F <= M+u
  • P+R+F <= T
  • m <= P+R, R+F, P+F <= M+m+u

Where currently as of this build, M = 1382 or (1381), m = 960 (or 961), u = 70. Hope this help.
