I think Dragon Bash comes in June, though I can’t cite a source this very moment. I just recall reading it’s starting June 10 and going 4 weeks. The date sticks in my head because I’m traveling June 9 for 2 weeks to my parents and they said they wouldn’t have a computer available for me to play GW2 on So I only get 2 weeks of the Bash. Thus I’m extra pleased to get Sanctum before I travel when I thought I didn’t get to play fun patches until late June.

As to Sanctum, so many happies! That really was the best little zone addition they ever did. From music to ambiance to interesting movement skills, I felt relaxed and happy any time I went there. Sprint is the only activity I look forward to when the daily calls for it, and the only one I sometimes do extra runs of just to do it. One of my guild leaders is making noises about having an RP event there.

If it can’t be permanent content, at least it can repeat and become a tradition. I don’t understand why people complain about that — do they also fret “oh, man, turkey with the family AGAIN on Thanksgiving? Why don’t we get new different holidays each year, in different months, with brand new types of celebration?”

Oh man oh man oh man, I made an undignified noise at work when I read this announcement! My favourite Living Story content coming back, both of them at the same time! SO HAPPY! Just now getting into RP, too, so looking forward to dragging my terrified-of-heights character into the Zephyr Sanctum. And I never did get a chance last time to try out the Gauntlet…good thing I saved all of my tickets!

Was going to quote you a tweet from one of the devs (https://twitter.com/barefootmatthew) but he seems to have deleted/changed it. It did say aspect arena would be back (though I doubt in the activities rotation), with sprint. He had replied to someone else, but that tweet seems to have disappeared (guess I should have posted the info when I first saw it, like I was going to).

Personally I loved gauntlet, so I can’t wait to fight those ‘bosses’ again. Also please, please let us swap all our useless ascended materials for something good. I will love the Zephyrites forever if they can take all my stacks of ascended rubbish!

I’m glad Zephyr is back, as it was a beautiful zone, but I really really hope we’ll be seeing new item skins and not recycles.

Looking forward to revisiting the Labyrinthine Cliffs and the Crown Pavilion! Especially looking forward to finally completing that dang Light Up the Darkness achievement, and trading in my excess mats to help rebuild LA.

I don’t think that achievement will be back.

We do have a dev on record stating that he fully expects the Gauntlet achievements (NOT the Queen’s Jubilee ones) to return when the Gauntlet comes back. Of course, decisions might have changed between then and now.

Still, considering all of the SAB achievements were available again during Back to School, there’s still reason to be hopeful.

And if it’s not back? Eh, I’ll get over it. I managed to beat Liadri the first time around, so I’m content with that. I probably could have gotten it if my characters were properly geared at the time.

I didn’t get it last year. Had only one lvl 80 at the time, a ranger, and lacked the skill. That update is actually what pushed me into trying zerk gear. I never even tried Liadri, got fed up with the gauntlet at the boss right before her. Confident now that I can do it and will probably even try for the orb one if it’s still there.

One thing that occurred to me, I really hope they change the setup and put it in an instance or SOMETHING. With MegaServer there is going to be a permanent giant zerg in the Pavilion, which leads to massive problems for most people.

Unlike the people who have expressed their disdain for “recycled” content, I am looking forward to the return of these events. One of the things I liked about GW was that you could count on events returning to level alts, complete activities, or farm what you want.
Mega-servers could make the Pavilion quite interesting.

I remember my acrophobic asura Qledd being the first to cross the line in Sanctum Sprint. He was screaming the whole way through and had his eyes closed most of the time. It was his inspiration to take up aeromancy.

Why wouldn’t the people of Tyria want to rebuild. Why would they want to just let it sit there in ruin? That would be foolish as it is probably the best placed shipping city/location on the map?

Add to that, many citizens of LA escaped. Many of those, I suspect, may want to go back and rebuild the city they were from.

I’m all for rebuilding. And from a gaming standpoint, why have a huge zone that has nothing more than vistas, jumping puzzles, POI’s, and waypoints? What is the use in that? It is a dead zone in that case good for nothing more than map completion and jumping puzzle achievements.

I get the sarcasm, but that is hardly the case. There are events in all maps, renown hearts in most maps, and services in many maps. LA has none of this.

So to answer your question, no, I most certainly did not mean like 80% of other maps. Because, that is nowhere near the truth.

I hope they make LA a real zone – with enemies (such as bandits and pirates) you can actually fight.

I am SO glad this is coming back. It’s a traveling trade forum. Comes and goes and comes again.
