I have no idea what Anet is thinking. In my opinion they are decreasing the value of the game and frustrating the hell out of people, which could easily result in fewer people playing the game.
After the latest improvement we get up to 31 laurels per month (a 23% drop down from 41), and 12 gold coins a month (a 60% drop down from 31 a month). This so-called improvement will impact the number of ascended items that can be crafted per month by about 25%. Additionally, the gold coins are used for many things and now it will be near impossible to make many things with gold coins.
To me this is tragic. Increasing the time it takes to make ascended gear is an insult. These actions show that the game designers are clueless and do not know players wants. We want more ascended gear, not less. REALLY?

I’m making a legendary and I’m lazy so extra Obsidian shards and clovers will be quite useful to me :-P

@OP – See above points about 55 laurels.

Actually you can get more than 50 laurels per month, which would be an rather large increase from the 41 (which only was possible by doing the daily every single day and also only during the months that actually had 31 days. In February for example it would be as low as 38).

Every 28th day you get 2% permanent gold drop increase for your account. You also get rather much stuff from doing dailies which would most likely sell for more than those 12 gold coins you got with the old system.

How are they increasing the time it takes to make Ascended gear? I would say quite the opposite actually if you go with the Ascended Materials with the 28-day chest, since that gives quite a boost to the Ascended crafting deal.

It’s 55 laurels over the 28 days. But you do get fewer Mystic Coins which is 12 I believe.

there is an endchest that gives you 20 laurels

that makes it 55 laurels

you can chose the ascended materials chest too which makes it even easier to craft ascended items

and about the mystic coins:
players got too many of them easily anyway
if they were accountbound then this change might be bad
but since you can trade them anyway it is abosultely no problem

You get 13 more laurels and 17 less coins which is totally more rewarding. Coins are cheap and you have an entire month to put a tiny bit of your income to buy the 17 coins while you get 13 more laurels.

Also do not fully trust the numbers in the wiki. If you follow the link of every coin bag you get different count:
1: 2
8: 4
15: 6
22: 8
for a total of 20m still less than before, but a little better.

so it might be better to chose laurels
thats like a guaranteed 20 gold or more and the karma for shards and clovers is easy to get

Hmmm possibly and I can get the shards, which is my main issue, for laurels so possibly a better choice. Eh we’ll see how I feel when I get to 28 days :-P
