Fiery Dragon Sword - 10 Hall of Monuments
here you are:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guide_to_earning_Hall_of_Monuments_rewards
personally, i’d advise to:
1 link the accounts (3 points)
2. Finish at least one campaign – 2 points
3 get M.O.X hero (you need to buy all the campaigns and expansion for him, though). He doesn’t need an armor upgrade and can be placed in Fellowship – 1 point
4. Do the Black Moa quest, place black moa in Fellowship – 2 points (for rare pet, and for level 20 pet)
now you need to get 2 more points. My personal choice would be
5. Complete Wayfarer’s reverie quest (which can be done during the last week of August – remember though that it requires having all campaigns done for map access unlock) and exchange the token for a torment weapon for Valor monument – 2 points.
If you hurry, you should be able to do it easily before September.
Edit: as an added info, i suggest creating a Nightfall campaign character, since it will give you earlier access to heroes, or starting in Prophecies and asking someone for a quick taxi to Lion’s Arch and a help with travel quest to Elona. A quick jump to Eye of the North (for Hall of Monuments access) will be necessary in order to actually unlock the points in HoM, and additionally, as an added bonus it will give you 3 level 20 heroes that are going to make levelling and playing through any campaign way easier.
Remember, remember, 15th of November

cool thanks…must type 15 letters
The Black Moa Quest is unlikely if he is playing on his own, apart from the hunt for the parts ( yes wiki can help ) he would still need to beat the forgeman in sorrows furnace in order to get the lava pot drop ( unless its been changed ) and unless he has full heros to do it solo, henchmen are highly unlikely to cut it ( again unless its been nerfed )

Thats the Black Moa chick minipet quest. He was talking about the ranger pet (since minipets dont have levels :P)

You forgot one easy point, putting a minipet in the HoM. He can buy one ingame or ask for a free one from a Guild Wars 1 vet.

I dunno, I beat the Foregman years ago with henchmen only (before heroes were introduced), and I didn’t have any runes or inscriptions either, because I was a noob and I didn’t know any better.

so i really want this sword and i know i have to play gw1 to get it but the question is, whats the minimum i have to do in gw1 to obtain 10 Hall of monuments in gw2?
has anyone done this just for the sword? and what did you do in overall?
You should play GW1 for the enjoyment instead because it’s a fun game.

This is not a universal truth. I’ve tried, I don’t enjoy it. I have to force myself to finish prophesies, though, cause I was given enough minis to get 5 points out of that hall and I have no intention of wasting it.

No idea if its been nerfed, but my heroes and henchies pretty much did most of that dungeon a few months back with me only needing to step in for the boss. The fact that I breezed through it suggests a nerf somewhere along the line!

It’s not any nerf. It’s the heroes you had – they are a massive upgrade over the original henchmen.

I played GW1 to death years ago. Recently I decided I’d like to play through again so I began on a brand new account. It is still fun. Hella fun. Unlocking everything again, gaining all the heroes, playing through the story was all fantastic. I would thoroughly recommend it. I played it a few hours a day during a fortnight of downtime and completed all campaigns, Eye of the North, and Sorrow’s Furnace. Took me somewhere in the region of 60-70 hours and got 20/50 unlocked on the HoM calculator – now the property of one lucky friend.
Enough points for the Fiery Dragon Sword took no time at all really.
i was never good at micromanaging (or just simply picking up a good skillset for) heroes, so i think i probably didn’t enjoy gw1 as much as i could have.
I still have very fond memories of the game, though, and its the reason i bought gw2 the moment i could (another decision i have never regretted)

There are people who will trade GW2 gold for a GW1 mini. A friend of mine did this for exotic minis- it’s helpful if you’re new to GW1 and don’t have any ectos.
Unlocking HoM stuff in GW1 is super fun. I orignally was just planning to unlock the sword but quickly got addicted and got 30 points :P

This applies to basically any hom related achievements in GW1. If you have enough GW2 gold, you can basically buy most of your way to gwamm if you really want.

From what I remember, GWAMM requires 30 maxed out titles out of 43 choices. Only the activity titles could be bought which is like 8. If you want to count the plat needed for the skill hunter titles then that’s another 4 although you get more than enough for them just by VQ’ing and completing missions.
I only bring this up because your statement seemed to devalue the effort people put into getting the title by saying they could have bought most of it.

I wish I had known that before I did all that vanquishing in hard mode, ground out Luxor/kurzick faction reps, got the reputations with the Norn, Asura and dwarves Dwarves and the Lightbringer title grind as well as any other things I might have forgotten in the last years.
ANet may give it to you.

I did most of my gwamm title the “hard way” back when hom was first introduced, but I also know a lot of people who bought most of their gwamm titles. They mostly bought nm/hm missions, vanquishing, and speedbook(eotn rep) services. If you had a lot of GW1 gold (ectos/armbraces), you could basically buy 19 of the 30 titles required for gwamm. The only “grindy” titles you had to do on your own were the cartography and elona rep titles. After that, the remaining titles were very easy to do.
Even today, you can still find people who will run most of those services for either GW2 or GW1 gold.
I really need to just finish Prophecies and get to HoM. It’s so hard to get motivated for that though, even with the guarantee of 6 points when I do it. I haven’t even finished with the Charr and moved on to Dwarves.

If you have factions then you can re-roll and be there in a couple hours if you have help. If you do all of the primary/secondary job quests, you’ll be most of the way to level 20 by the time you get to Kaineng. Definitely something to consider if that’s all that’s stopping you.

Would the minis I have on my level 12 Ranger be accessible to the factions character, cause that’s 5 of the points, the other one was from finishing prophesies.

If your ranger has access to a Xunlai bank, he can put it in there for another char on the same account to pick up.
Edit: meant xunlai chest, not Zaishan (duh)

the xunlai chest in gw1 is account wide.
Guild Wars 1’s storylines are very good. Not like GW2’s, which is a boring skip to the end as fast as possible waste of time.

I found GW2s story a lot more involving, tbh, and they did a better job of not making it the sole focus.
By the end of prophecies, i was pretty burnt out and once i’d completed it i was just like, “…now what?”
sure, they added in that war in kryta content a bit later, but still. GW1 was almost totally campaign driven, whereas in gw2 it’s threaded throughout hte world but isn’t the sole focus of your activities. GW2s world just feels more alive & involving.

Actually, you could just level your toon to around level 10 or so, make your way to Lion’s Arch (the mission Gates of Kryta leads you to it), and then go to EOTN by taking the quest What Lies Beneath (given by Len Caldoron). You’re upleveled to level 20 for all of the EOTN content, so you won’t be too underpowered or anything.

The really good part about that is you get 2 heroes, Ogden, a monk, and Vekk, an elementalist for very little effort. Both are much better than any henchmen you might be using.

Yup! Plus, if you just go outside of that starting EOTN outpost and talk to Jora, you’ll be able to just run right to the Eye of the North (only needing to fight maybe six mobs on the way) to unlock a mesmer hero. Three useful heroes for minimal effort.

I’m working my way through the Shiverpeaks now. Based on my understanding of the map in GW2, LA should be just on the other side, right?

Pretty much. You’ll still have to go a tiny bit into Kryta but it’s not very far.
Another option, if you are a member of a guild ask if someone has any minipets in GW1 they don’t want. Often they will be all to glad to give them to you free. I have provided quite a few of these free to guild members.
Depending on how long you have been playing GW1 you may have a prestige armor set already. Some are fairly easy to obtain.
I found this map online. It has the outlines of the map boundaries if you’re running it instead of doing the missions.
You’ll want to stop at Beacon’s Perch to be sure, then you’ll need to go through Griffon’s mouth, go north out of Scoundrel’s Rise, then all the way back down to Lions Arch.
If you need help with positioning yourself in relation to the GW2 map, look at the locations of Beetletun (where the Caudecus Manor dungeon is located), The Temple of the Ages (near where the Shadow Behemoth event is located) and the Divinity Coast mission icon (directly above it is Shaemoor, further north is what will be Divinity’s Reach).

Yah. You can’t go straight west. You have to first go north then west then southerly to reach Lions Arch from Ascalon. I remember back then it was a loonnnggg trek.
