Finally some silents
Don’t you have to pay gems to use a custom server? If so, this will not be a fix for people that are wanting duels.
They could add this option where you right click someones portrait(or /duel) and the person you did this to, could click accept and that will allow you to duel! It’s actually an amazing thought.
I already mentioned that to fulfill the want for duels you have to:
1. Make a kit that makes an arena that never expires. Make it as expensive as you want, but paying to buy a custom arena for a month? I’m not that rich thank you.
2. Put in proper, FREE dueling. You know, like other MMOs did it, like some shooters did it, like mobas did it… Almost all online games make it possible for their players to have a 1v1 fights. But in guild wars 2 for some reason it costs money monthly.
I’m excited for this addition, but this is not really an alternative for dueling.
I hope they get the pricing right…more than 800gems per month is too much. That’s the HIGH end, imo.
“A release is 7 days or less away or has just happened within the last 7 days…
These are the only two states you’ll find the world of Tyria.”
you need gems to “host” an arena, playing in a custom arena won’t cost. (unless the host figures out some way to charge)

So you will have to pay to have a custom game? Or you are expected to spam chat hoping that someone will allow you to use the game that they purchased. Maybe they will charge a few gold a game or something. It really doesn’t help when they could just allow regular kitten dueling in the game, which would alleviate all of these issues.
Ideally, there would be a group or an individual that would keep up a public, non-passworded arena that centers on 1v1s.
I doubt that you can really expect a non-guild/friends arena with a password to actually last long without the password getting out. At least if it’s a popular arena.
In fact, in other games I’ve played (Diablo II, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater), the “pro” communities had a static password for their servers.
